The Ark of the Covenant had just arrived back in Israel from the Philistines. Now, it is resting…for 20 years! But something wasn’t right. God was there, but their cities were still in ruin, their armies were weak, and they were still ultimately under the hand of the Philistines. The prophet Samuel tells them how to get all of God, not just enough of God. It seems like in today’s culture, not much has changed. We don’t mind the idea of God-but not the rule of God.
