You Asked For It (Extra Questions Podcast)
2026/10/11
Zach answers the remaining questions sent in by students! (Questions are below) // 1:36 // — What’s the difference between good pride and bad pride? // 3:30 // — Why is it so hard for churches to raise up the next generation in ministry? // 6:26 // — Why aren’t we actively pursuing Paul’s and Timothy’s? // 9:30 // — If God has a plan for everyone why do his plans not consist of following Him? And if God has unconditional love for all, why would he want them to suffer in hell? // 12:05 // — How did the people who wrote the Bible know what was happening? // 14:30 // — How do we know heaven is real? And if God forgives everyone why do people go to hell? // 17:09 // — What part of our physical selves goes to heaven in a spiritual body? // 21:44 // — There’s so many religions with the same base core how do we know Christianity is the main true one // 23:17 // — How are people who do drugs, sex, drink, etc so content and happy without Christ but I struggle to be happy with Christ // 25:48 // — Am I a bad person for saying I will pray for someone then forgetting to? // 26:45 // — What does the Bible really say about piercings and tattoos // 28:50 // — how can other people around us who are not following Jesus feel so complete and happy, but I only find my happiness while following Jesus? // 29:37 // — Is speaking in tongues and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit the same thing? And do I have to speak in tongues to be on fire for God? // 30:36 // — If jealousy is a sin/wanting what other people have then does God not sin when he says he is a jealous God in the Bible. // 32:04 // — Will our pets go to heaven? I know that it is common belief that they will not, but what about Psalms 36:6? // 33:24 // — How do I handle struggles with body image/eating/exercise? How do I bring it to God and trust him? // 35:39 // — After experiencing foster care, losing my dad, and now a difficult breakup, how do I trust that God’s way is right instead of feeling like He keeps taking good things away from me? (Question is read & answered fully in the podcast) // 38:35 // — Why does Eastview allow women to preach? // 39:03 // — People know I am a devout Christian, so I get a lot of questions, which is great! But, as someone who really struggles emotionally when debating or arguing I can really struggle to completely answer. I get really sad when someone doesn't believe in God and really anxious and overwhelmed when challenged by others. Yesterday, I was trying to help someone and then two of his other atheist friends all came and I was just really struggling. How do I help this? // 41:36 // — When we pray, are we praying to a specific part of the trinity? Or just God in general. The same question goes for worship too. // 43:05 // — I know in the Old Testament they used to have to sacrifice when they sinned. Since Jesus has fulfilled the Old Testament, we still must repent of our sin, but do I need to do that for every single sin I make. What if I forget or do recognize I even sinned. I know Jesus knows our heart and intentions though. // 44:20 // — How do I know if I’ve truly repented and therefore am saved? And how do I know if I’m too focused on going to Heaven vs. being with Jesus now?
You Asked For It (Week 4) - Zach Thompson
2026/10/11
In Week 4 of "You Asked for It," Zach continues answering questions submitted by students! (Questions are below) // 1:32 // — How do I get people in my small group who don’t go to church to come to church? // 2:40 // — How do I know it’s a sign from God versus me just telling myself it’s what I want to hear/see? // 5:11 // — Why did the Holy Spirit lead Jesus into the wilderness to get tempted by the Devil? // 7:32 // — Do you consider God an angry God? Like fire and brimstone? // 10:22 // — I love everything else that God loves, but myself. How can I fix that? // 12:50 // — How exactly does God tell you to counter envy and jealousy? // 15:27 // — Do you have to get baptized to go to Heaven? // 16:54 // — What does God say about suicide and self-harm? // 21:26 // — Why does God answer the prayers of some who are blessed while others who are suffering and less fortunate seem to receive nothing despite their faith and prayers? // 24:02 // — What’s the real difference between other denominations? Do people who follow or were born into other religions immediately go to hell because they were never introduced to God? // 26:33 // — I feel like living a Christian life can seem like a list of dos and don’ts. How do I change my mindset on my faith? // 28:36 // — If God can’t be around sin, then how is He “with us always?” // 30:00 // — If God makes the rules how does he “have” to do things? // 31:54 // — How do we know for sure that it is all real? How do you combine reality with your spiritual life?
You Asked For It (Week 3) - 9/27/26 (Zach Thompson)
2026/09/27
In Week 3 of You Asked for It, Zach continues answering questions submitted by students! (Questions are below) // 2:30 // — If all of my close friends are atheist or not strong on believing and are always saying bad things should I step back and find another group/friends // 4:55 // — What are the different roles of knowledge and feelings in faith? What if I don’t “feel” in love with Jesus? // 6:55 // — Why does God create bad people if he already knows that they will do bad since he’s omniscient? // 10:30 // — How can I tell myself that I am enough and I don’t have to be somebody I am not // 13:13 // — What if demon possession is just the way people of biblical times viewed mental illness? // 14:15 // — Why aren’t the dueturocanonical books included in the Bible (Tobit, Judith, 1 & 2 Maccabees, Baruch, and others)? // 16:24 // — I have issues truly believing. The best way I can explain it is I know the path and how to walk but I can't seem to actually walk. Like I know Jesus I know he saved me but how can I truly devote myself to him and be like others I see who have gotten it.....and how can I use my autism and A.D.H.D to serve God // 19:20 // — How do we know that our “version” or denomination of Christianity is correct? (Non-denominational vs Catholicism: there are many recorded miracles and other proofs for the Catholic Church but they believe different things when it comes to communion for example) // 22:00 // — I was diagnosed with cancer in Jr. High and had to undergo the three most painful years of my life spending so much time in hospitals and surgeries and for the longest time I blamed God. There was a point during this time where I thought death would be better than my current state of life. During these few years I despised god I didn't read my bible I didn't really go to church and I wanted nothing to do with god. I finished chemo in 2024 and over the last year and a half I've tried so hard to love god again and I'm getting better at it but deep down I'm still partly angry at god and can't fully forgive him. Is this okay? What steps should I take next? How can I love God and not blame him for my Cancer? // 25:14 // — How do we know when God will defeat satan? // 26:00 // — How is it possible that Jesus was the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit? // 28:20 // — Everytime I get super close to my baptism, one of my family members has gotten sick or hurt and I can't get baptized, do you think God is telling me not too? It has happened 3 times. // 29:30 // — If God really is all powerful then why was sending his son to die on the cross his only option? Or was it not his only option and he just chose that way to flaunt how sacrificial he can be for us?
