We recently conducted a survey looking at the experiences and requirements of job seekers! We were keen to understand the drivers for job seeking, the challenges faced and other key factors relevant in looking for a job in Jersey! As well as becoming more informed we wanted quality data, feedback, and a better understanding to provide the best service we can to both the job seeker and our clients. We have been delighted by the diversity of responses; both from the job seekers and the industry/environments that they work within meaning we got just what we wanted from the exercise! Welcome to our latest Podcast as part of the “a career in” series! This week we were delighted to welcome Briony Price a Director from Phoenix Plumbing and Heating. Briony has worked within the construction industry as a Plumber for over 25 years and we really loved hearing from her on her career to date and experience from this sector! From leaving her A Levels behind to move to Highlands and become the second female plumber on the Island to today as the Director of her own firm and all the gender and assumption challenges along the way; it was great to hear a new perspective. We were thrilled to have been joined by the lovely Rachel and Raine from ITV for this weeks episode, we had a great gab surrounding all things media related, how they started their careers (and how you could too!) what skills are required, top tips for someone looking to enter this field/ what roles are available plus much more! This week we were delighted to welcome Jacqui Patton MD of Ink Blot Creative and Founder of GREENHOUSE Jersey. She last year launched the fantastic GREENHOUSE Jersey – the Islands first business conference for small business owners and freelancers which returns this Autumn. This week we are delighted to continue our Well being series and welcome Trudi Roscouet from Vitality40plus. Trudi is an experienced Fitness Professional and Personal Trainer who created her business with a focus for women going through the menopause after her own personal experience and challenges. She now supports both individuals and corporates in building awareness and creating supporting programmes to empower women through this challenging time of life. She is extremely passionate and we loved chatting to her about her experience in this topical area!  

This week we are delighted to start a new series of podcasts focused on Wellbeing and in this episode we welcome Grant Henderson from Active Chiropractic Clinic.  Grant is an experienced McTimoney Chiropractor, and has been practising in Jersey for the last 30 years. As well as being a Fellow of the Royal College of Chiropractors he has undertaken extensive training as a Medical Acupuncturist, gaining a PGDip in Western Medical Acupuncture. Soon after arriving in Jersey, Grant recognised the need for professional workstation advice and trained as a workstation assessor. He provides a consultancy service to a wide range of employers in Jersey to enhance staff wellbeing. He carries out workstation assessments, offers seminars on improving posture in the workplace and provides specialist office equipment including sit stand desks and ergonomic office chairs. Grant is passionate about posture and has performed thousands of assessments for employers, helping thousands of office workers in Jersey to be more comfortable, more relaxed and more productive at work. This week we are delighted to welcome Hannah from Hannah Hearne Social to discuss her career in the marketing world, focused on social media. She also shares with us her story being an Entrepreneur of two successful businesses. Hannah is a former journalist and PR & Marketing Manager who established Hannah Hearne Social Media Consultancy and is also part of the successful gift and events styling business All About Love Jersey.

Perhaps lots of options are being put your way, “you should go into finance” is often suggested, but what actually does “ going into finance” mean??  There are some great options in finance and in this series of podcasts we shall take each sector (finance and everything in between) in turn and delve into the nitty gritty, what do you actually do on a day to day basis? What does the progression look like? What is the best thing about the job? What are the challenges? What was the interview process like?  So we are delighted to kick off this new series with “A day in the life of a “Junior Fund Administrator” Ella and Brittany joined us from Fund Management business Langham Hall where they discussed all of the above and bought their role and sector to life for us and for our listeners, it was great to hear their journey so far as well as their perspective on the role and industry in general. We wish them both all the best as they continue growing in their career.

Our Podcast episode this week, features Cara Coles, Cara was our lovely work experience student from Highlands College where she is currently studying Level 3 in Business. She came to speak to us on her second placement week to talk about her experience so far, what made her choose to work with us and what she was hoping to get out of her “work experience”  Why is work experience important? What should you think about when making your choices?  We cover all of the above and more and as well as getting involved in all of the daily recruitment activity, we also have put her in front of the microphone and into the spotlight, where she was a total natural.
