Ep. 117 Marks That Last (Part 2)
2026/09/15
Anybody can start strong. The real question is what keeps character alive after the motivation fades. In Part 2 of the Seven Marks, Ed looks at the three that sustain all the rest: patience, Word-centeredness, and Spirit-dependence. Here is the heart of it. The marks of a principled life were never meant to run on willpower. They run on the Spirit of God in a yielded life. If you have been white-knuckling your growth, this episode is the exhale.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Patience as integrity stretched out over time.
Word-centeredness, storing the Word before you need it.
Spirit-dependence as the engine of real change.
One verse to hide this week.
SCRIPTURE ANCHOR
Romans 8:14 (NKJV): "As many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God." See also Hebrews 12:1 and Psalm 119:11 (NKJV).
THIS WEEK'S ASSIGNMENT
Pick one verse and hide it this week; memorize it so it is inside you before you need it. Then hand one striving place over to the Spirit.
JOURNAL PROMPT
Where am I running on willpower instead of the Spirit, and what one verse will I hide in my heart this week?

Ep. 116 The Marks That Show (Seven Marks, Part 1
2026/09/08
Most of us want to be better people and have no clear picture of what we are aiming at. So in this episode, Pastor Snyder gets specific. Principled character has marks you can actually name and measure. This week we take the first four, the load-bearing ones: integrity, decisiveness, consistency, and accountability. We hold each one against Scripture and against ourselves, not to shame anyone, but so you can stop aiming at a blur and start growing on purpose.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Integrity as wholeness, the same you in public and private.
Decisiveness as the fruit of settled principle.
Consistency and accountability, and why iron needs iron.
How to pick one mark to grow this month.
SCRIPTURE ANCHOR
Proverbs 11:3 (NKJV): "The integrity of the upright will guide them." See also James 1:8, Psalm 37:23, and Proverbs 27:17 (NKJV).
THIS WEEK'S ASSIGNMENT
Score yourself one to ten on integrity, decisiveness, consistency, and accountability. Circle the lowest, and take one concrete step on it this week.
JOURNAL PROMPT
Of the four marks, which is my lowest right now, and what is one concrete step I can take on it this week?

Ep. 115 Guard The Wellspring
2026/09/01
We spend so much energy managing our behavior and almost none guarding the place it all comes from. Proverbs says that out of the heart spring the issues of life. In this episode, Pastor Snyder stops trimming the fruit and goes after the root. The heart is a wellspring; it has gates (your eyes, your mouth, your feet), and you will end up living in the direction of whatever you protect. This is not white-knuckle control. It is tending the source so the stream runs clean.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Why the heart is the priority, not the behavior.
The three gates Proverbs 4 names, and how to guard them.
How a guarded heart becomes a pure heart that sees God.
One gate to audit this week.
SCRIPTURE ANCHOR
Proverbs 4:20-27 (NKJV): "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life." See also Philippians 4:6-8 and Matthew 5:8 (NKJV).

Ep. 114 The Fire Didn't Make You
2026/08/25
We tend to think hard seasons build our character. More often, the fire simply reveals what was already there. In this episode
Pastor Snyder stands at the mouth of Daniel 3 with three young men who answered a king with one of the bravest sentences in Scripture, "but if not," and traces the fire back to a God who refines like gold and never leaves us in it alone. If you are in a furnace right now, you are not being destroyed. You are being revealed, refined, and accompanied.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Why the furnace is an X-ray, not a forge.
The mature faith hidden in the words "but if not."
How fire refines like gold instead of destroying you.
Why you never stand in the fire alone once the Spirit lives in you.
SCRIPTURE ANCHOR
Daniel 3:16-18 (NKJV): "...our God whom we serve is able to deliver us... But if not... we do not serve your gods." See also 1 Peter 1:6-7 and Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV).
THIS WEEK'S ASSIGNMENT
Name the furnace you are in. Write your own "but if not" sentence, and stay in the fire one beat longer, asking what it is building instead of only how to escape it.
JOURNAL PROMPT
What is my current furnace revealing about what I already believe, and who is standing in it with me?

Ep. 113 Decide Before the Pressure
2026/08/18
We tell ourselves we will rise to the moment, but under pressure we usually fall to whatever we have already decided. Daniel shows a better way. Before the king's table ever reached him, he "purposed in his heart" (Daniel 1:8, NKJV). The line was drawn in the calm, so the pressure had nothing left to bargain with.
In this first episode of Living By Principle, Pastor Snyder walks through Daniel 1:8 and the Psalm 15 portrait of a settled person, and gives you one thing to decide this week before the pressure arrives.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Why character is set before the pressure, not summoned during it.
What "Daniel purposed in his heart" means for the decisions in front of you.
The Psalm 15 marks of a person who "shall never be moved."
Why pre-deciding is really an act of belonging to God, sustained by His Spirit.
THIS WEEK'S ASSIGNMENT
Name one line you have never actually drawn. Draw it today, in the calm, in writing, before anything asks you to cross it. Decide once, so you do not have to decide it a hundred times under fire.
JOURNAL PROMPT
Where am I waiting until the pressure to decide who I will be, and what one line do I need to settle today, in the calm?

Ep. 112 Living By Principle Pt.2
2026/08/13
What drives your life, the flesh, personal ambition, or the Holy Spirit? Pastor Ed Snyder explains how Spirit-led, principled living produces life, peace, purpose, stability, and visible transformation. Discover why convictions must be settled before pressure arrives and how the fruit of the Spirit reveals the evidence of a genuinely Spirit-driven life.
Ep. 111 Living By Principle
2026/08/13
Everybody is building a life on something. The question is whether that foundation can withstand the storm. Pastor Ed Snyder introduces Living by Principle—a Word-centered approach to developing the fixed points, foundational truths, and internal compass that keep us steady in a changing world. Anchored in Acts 2:38, this message calls us away from feelings-driven living and back to repentance, baptism in Jesus’ name, the gift of the Holy Spirit, and solid biblical ground. Welcome to the Nation.
Ep. 110 The Beast Grows in the Dark
2026/08/06
"The beast grows when emotions go unchecked."The beast does not grow from big blowups. It grows from quiet neglect, the things we swallow, rehearse, and never bring into the light. In this episode, Pastor Snyder shows the third way between exploding and stuffing, and how a daily check-in keeps small things small.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
- Why neglect, not intensity, is what feeds the beast.
- The difference between unchecked and unfelt.
- How a daily walk-through governs what would otherwise grow.
SCRIPTURE ANCHOR
Proverbs 29:11, KJV: "A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards."
THIS WEEK'S ASSIGNMENT
Once a day, ask, what am I leaving unchecked? Name one thing and deal with it before it grows.
JOURNAL PROMPT
What have I been swallowing instead of governing, and where has it quietly grown?

Ep. 108 Your Response Reveals Your Leadership
2026/07/31
You can put "leader" on a business card, but you cannot fake it when something goes wrong in the moment.
In this episode, Pastor Snyder makes the case that your response under pressure is the truest reflection of your resume, and gives you the reps that raise your leadership level, one moment at a time.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: Why the people you lead read your composure more than your words.- What a "city without walls" teaches about ungoverned reactions.- Three quiet reps that raise your leadership level: pause, question, own your part.
SCRIPTURE ANCHOR: Proverbs 25:28, KJV: "He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls."
THIS WEEK'S ASSIGNMENT: Pick the one situation most likely to test you this week. Name it before it happens and decide your response in advance.
JOURNAL PROMPT: What is my most common reaction under pressure, and what is it teaching the people who watch me?

Ep. 107 Knowing What You Feel, Choosing What You Do
2026/07/31
Emotional intelligence gets called a soft skill.
It is not. It is two hard moves done in order: name what you feel, then choose what you do. In this episode, Pastor Snyder shows why naming is the discipline most people skip, and how the gap between feeling and choosing is where your real power lives.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: Why naming a feeling accurately loosens its grip on you.The difference between feeling (honest) and acting (accountable).A simple twice-a-day drill to build the muscle.
SCRIPTURE ANCHOR: Proverbs 16:32, KJV: "He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city."
THIS WEEK'S ASSIGNMENT: Twice a day, finish the sentence out loud or on paper: "Right now I feel _______, and I am choosing to _______."

Ep. 106 Lead The Beast, Don't Kill It
2026/07/31
Lead the Beast, Don't Kill It
Quote of the week: "You don't have to kill the beast. Learn to lead it."
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: For years, Pastor Snyder thought the goal was to kill the anger, the reaction, the heat that rises before he could think. Genesis 4 says something different: rule over it. In this episode, Pastor Snyder unpacks the difference between killing the beast and leading it, and gives you three moves you can use the same day to put your emotions back under leadership.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: Why your emotions are information, not the enemy.- The three moves that turn a reaction into leadership: name it, gap it, aim it.- How governed energy becomes drive instead of damage.
SCRIPTURE ANCHOR Genesis 4:7, KJV: "...sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, but thou shalt rule over him."
THIS WEEK'S ASSIGNMENT: In one real moment this week, put your hand on the reins. Name what you feel, take one breath, and choose a single response on purpose.
JOURNAL PROMPT: Where in my life am I trying to kill the beast instead of leading it, and what would leadership look like there?
Ep. 105 The Room Always Follows The Calmest Person In It
2026/07/31
In the hardest rooms, crisis, rage, and grief, the room does not follow the loudest voice or the highest rank. It follows the calmest, most grounded person in it. In this episode, Ed Snyder unpacks why calm is the most powerful force in a high-tension moment, what Scripture says about the soft answer, and how to become the steady presence other people can land on. Calm is not weakness, and it is not something you manufacture. It is something you carry in on purpose.
In This Episode • Why calm, not volume or authority, sets the temperature of a room
• The difference between a soft answer and a weak answer
• How Jesus redirected hostility instead of matching it
• Why calm is borrowed, not manufactured
• Three questions that make you the calmest person in your hardest room
Scripture Proverbs 15:1 (KJV): “A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger
Ep. 104 Anger Is The Smoke: Not The Fire
2026/07/31
Anger isn't the enemy; it's a warning sign. Most people try to manage their anger by suppressing it, venting it, or apologizing after it. But none of that addresses the real issue. Anger is the smoke. Somewhere underneath, there's a fire, and until you find it, nothing changes. In this episode, Pastor Ed Snyder draws on more than 30 years of experience as a pastor, author, and law enforcement chaplain to help you: Understand why anger is a symptom, not the root problemIdentify what's actually fueling your emotional reactionsStop responding in ways you regretLead yourself, your family, and your team with greater confidenceWhether you're dealing with conflict at home, pressure at work, or stress in leadership this conversation will help you stop chasing the smoke and start addressing the fire.
