Two investigators drive into Joplin Missouri, on a case that looks like a waste of time and resources: to investigate the finances of a rural shelter for homeless youth. It looks like poison to careers that are already on life support. Unless there’s more to it. Unless the ghostly lights of tall tales really do rise over the black woods. Unless the leaves whisper with memories beyond life and death. In this episode, I'm joined by Maia from Looking For Mom. The Godsinger crew has crossed the Greenstream, survived Ragged Wood, and secured the parasite cure. Now comes the part nobody planned for: getting Happy laid. To save him from his own self-destructive heartbreak, Kezza, Bebo, and Zin have to help Happy win over the only thing he's ever truly wanted: the love of his misses, The Kraken. That means surviving its mating ritual, either impress the leviathan or be crushed and pulled into the undereaves. Between dodging tentacles, managing three enthralled captains, and trying not to become collateral damage in a kaiju romance, the crew will need every trick they've got just to get everyone out alive. It's messy. It's absurd. It might actually work. This is the final chapter of the Happy Eater tale, but we're hoping to bring you more stories from Rivenwake. If you enjoyed the journey, please spread the word, it helps more than you know, and consider supporting us on Patreon to help make the next arc happen. Kezza, Bebo, and Zin link up with the crew leaders of the Screw Loose and the Little Rascal to plot an escape from Happy's suicidal embrace. But first, they have to cross the Greenstream, the mighty southern current separating the safety of the Mesoreia from the lawless mangrove jungles of Ragged Wood. Mile-tall irontide trees sway and crash in unison, threatening to splinter their ships before they even reach the far shore. Survive that, and the real challenge starts: finding the fabled juju bean, a guaranteed cure for parasites, including the happy kind. But the deeper they push into uncharted Ragged Wood, the closer they're drawn to something they can't outrun: Happy's lady love. Disclaimer: This episode contains profanity and violence. The fleet sails south, and the crew of the Godsinger is running out of time to figure out where they stand. Kezza, Bebo, and Zin press Happy on his motives and get an answer they didn't expect. The Godsinger is wrecked. The Screw Loose hit hard and didn't hold back, and now a second ship, the Little Rascal, is bearing down on what's left. Kezza, Bebo, and Zin scramble for a new play. Their survival earns them an audience with the infamous Captain Aurek, commander of the Happy Eater, the galleon they were commissioned to find. What the crew learns aboard it reframes everything they thought they knew about the fate of the ship and the job they thought was almost over. Disclaimer: This episode contains profanity. The Snarl lives up to its name: a maze of razor reef and sunken ships. The crew of the Godsinger has set their trap, the decoy is in place, and the Mesoreia pirates are sailing right to it. All Bebo, Kezza, and Zin have to do is hold their nerve. Easier said than done when Kezza won't stop reminding the crew he's not sticking around for long. With the trap set and the pirates closing in, it's the worst possible moment for the Godsinger crew to question whether they're even a real crew at all. Kezza leads Bebo down into the thrash on what should have been a routine harvest of Crezzerin. Oily, black, and volatile, the mysterious goo that shapes the Wildsea doesn't forgive mistakes, and this wavewalk leaves both sailors changed. Meanwhile, aboard the God Singer, Zin takes the wheel as the crew pushes onward through the Mesoreia and toward the Snarl. The pirates they're hunting won't wait forever, and neither will their rivals, The Mass Romantics, closing in from behind. Every league counts. Redcrown lies behind them. The Happy Eater, somewhere ahead. And the crew of the Godsinger is in a race to beat their rivals. The Mesoreia (Mezo-ryah) has a reputation for being a smooth stretch of verdancy, but the crew learns that reputation is not entirely true. Zin pulls a half-dead stranger from the waves, one who might know more about their quarry. Bebo spots something shiny, but there's no time to celebrate: something burns on the horizon, and the ship is moving straight for it! Caught between pursuit and disaster, it's Kezza who sees the angle nobody else could. Fortune favors fools. Good thing the Godsinger has three to spare. In Redcrown, opportunity and danger go hand in hand. The crew of The Godsinger meet Lemo Saeve of The Timberflow Mercantile, who offers them a job with high stakes: pirates are strangling trade across the Mesoreia, and he needs a daring crew to put an end to it. Before they can take on the contract, the crew seeks atonement from the Kingsman of Redcrown. As creepy as the Kingsman are, if Bebo, Kezza and Zin want to survive what’s coming, they’ll need every edge they can muster. Their plan to catch the pirates? An alluring brain pearl. But in Redcrown, that’s a dangerous mistake, and one that forces them to set sail sooner than planned. Disclaimer: This episode contains profanity, descriptions of disease, and drug use. The Wildsea is an award-winning, post-fall fantasy tabletop roleplaying game set on a rampant ocean of living green. Players take on the role of wildsailors, carving paths through the verdancy aboard chainsaw-driven ships. The Happy Eater is the first campaign in Tales From The Wildsea, our new actual play series. In this introductory episode, you'll meet the crew of The Godsinger, a humble hauling vessel with ambitions of glory. They hold a chart to a secret treasure far to the north, but before they can chase after it, they’ll need the right parts. Kezza, Bebo, and Zin, alongside their Tzelicrae captain Tzenko, set their sights on Redcrown, the oldest island in Rivenwake, in search of a job big enough to change their fortunes. You'll never expect where things lead in this gonzo adventure. This campaign is inspired by a year-long playtest of an original reach called Rivenwake, a jungle expanse defined by divergent tree currents, strange economies, and the greatest race on the verdancy. Rivenwake wouldn’t exist without the support of Mayday’s patrons who took part in our Patreon-exclusive campaign. Thank you to everyone who helped bring it to life. You can download a free PDF supplement that helps you follow along: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1F04-OvyIBDbeMsryzUDvqWQzdwwsgSb3/view?usp=sharing Our playthrough focuses on immersive roleplay and cinematic storytelling. While mechanics are visible for clarity, you should not expect much "out-of-character" discussion. Sergio describes the successes and complications, and the players describe their failures. Twists are described by the player who rolled them. Disclaimer: This episode contains profanity and violence. Viewer discretion is advised. In collaboration with Three Black Halflings, Roleplaying Public Radio, and Red Moon Roleplaying, Mayday presents Looks Could Kill, a scenario of petrifying horror for Delta Green, the role-playing game. The first day of Fall in Boston, MA. An urgent call comes in to the CDC, and somewhere on government servers, Delta Green’s algorithms flag it. Someone has died…of petrification. Now, it’s up to the agents of M-Cell to figure out how and why, but how do you stop something you can’t look at? Sometimes the unnatural can’t be beat with a bullet.
