Rock Chalk Champions + A Bench Mob Therapy Debrief
2022/04/05
On today’s Championship Recap episode, the Kansas Jayhawks are National Champions. The guys break down the game which saw a few big runs by both teams. Carolina took a huge lead into half but Rico worked some Twitter magic and it turned it all around. The Jayhawks took went on a huge run but the Tar Heels didn’t back down. In the end, Kansas cuts down the nets in what was one of the most memorable tournaments. Rico is a big winner seeing as he’s been on the Jayhawks from Day 1. Or has he? And what does this mean for Bill Self’s legacy? Where does he rank among current and all-time coaches?
We finish up with a group therapy session discussing some controversial events this week in New Orleans involving one Rico Bosco. And then another competing podcast may have asked Jake to come on for an episode and Rico isn’t a fan of the idea. But everything will be hashed out and we are extremely thankful for all of our listeners. We had a great time this season and look forward to continuing to grow our brand and bringing you more great college hoops content.

The Funeral
2022/04/03
On today’s episode of Barstool Bench Mob, we bid farewell to Coach Mike Krzyzewski. Coach K’s career comes to an end after Duke falls to North Carolina in the Final Four. Marty and Rico are heart broken and Big Cat hops on to give their eulogies. Is Coach K’s legacy dead? What happened to Duke in this game? Did the game live up to the hype?
In the first game, Kansas went wire to wire and took down a banged up Villanova team. The Wildcats just didn’t have the horses. Did the Jayhawks have the easiest path to a championship game? And if they beat UNC on Monday night, will anybody except Jayhawks fans care?
We wrap up with some stories from our week down in New Orleans.

Villanova's Collin Gillespie, St. Bonnies Superfan Captain Beer + The Blue Blood Final Four Preview
2022/03/31
On today's episode, we break down all of the storylines heading into the Final Four in New Orleans. Is this Duke-UNC game the biggest college basketball game of all time? Don't you dare bring up Gonzaga-Baylor or Rico may shut down. Hubert Davis has surpassed our expectations but can his Tar Heels win the whole thing? And how will this Final Four impact Bill Self's legacy?
Then we welcome on Villanova guard Collin Gillespie to get his thoughts on returning to the Final Four for the second time in his career. Collin talks about being in a group with 3 other historic blue-blood programs, whether he prefers to play the first or second game, and how the Wildcats will have to adapt after losing Justin Moore to a torn achilles. Plus - Collin talks about his dad who has recently become a tournament celebrity.
We then welcome on St. Bonaventure superfan Captain Beer who talks about superfan life, his love for the Bonnies and how he became Captain Beer. Plus - the Captain got unblocked by a certain member of Barstool Bench Mob.
We then wrap up breaking down each of the two Final Four matchups. Can the Wildcats overcome the loss of Justin Moore? Who do the guys like gamblingwise? Kansas too chalk of a pick? And in the second game, can Coach K's Blue Devils avenge their regular season embarrassment against the Tar Heels? And Marty asks why people have such a big issue with others rooting for a school they didn't attend.

Who is the current Most Outstanding Player of the Tournament? And does it matter your path to making the Final Four? Kansas has yet to have a tough test leading up to their Final Four matchup against Villanova.
The magic ran out for Shaheen Holloway’s Peacocks but their run was one for the ages. Was their upset over Kentucky more impressive than UMBC’s shocker over Virginia?

2022/03/27

And now one half of the potential Duke-UNC Final Four matchup is set. Would that matchup be the most anticipated game in college hoops history?
In the South Region, Villanova made their 3rd Final Four since 2016 after winning a defensive battle over Houston. Has Jay Wright solidified himself as the best coach in the game right now? The Wildcats did suffer a tough blow at the end of the game with Justin Moore going down with a potentially severe leg injury. How will his loss be felt in New Orleans? The guys then wrap up with some audience Q&A and give their thoughts on Sunday's games.

The Peacocks Make History, Kansas Survives, + Are We Destined For Duke-UNC?
2022/03/26
On today's episode, the guys recap day 2 of the Sweet 16 which featured another absolute stunner from the St. Peter's Peacocks. How did Shaheen Holloway's squad take down the heavily favored Boilermakers? And it was another disappointing end for Matt Painter's Purdue team. Is it time to be concerned if you're a Boilermakers fan?
In the battle of the Blue Bloods, UNC took down UCLA continuing the Tar Heels late season run. Is it destiny that we get a Duke-UNC Final Four matchup? How does Marty feel about that? And a year after making the Final Four, Mick Cronin's Bruins exit in the Sweet 16. Was this season a failure out in Hollywood?
In the Midwest Region, the only remaining 1-seed. Kansas, took care of business against Ed Cooley's Friars. And they'll take on Miami on Sunday after the Hurricanes beat Iowa State. The ACC has 3 teams in the Elite Eight, more than any other conference. Did we underrate the conference all year? What does it say about regular season evaluations?

Coach K's Devils Keep Dancing, Gonzaga and Arizona Go Down, + Villanova Stays Hot
2022/03/25
Jake, Marty, and Rico are back with another night of live postgame reaction from Thursday night's Sweet 16 slate. Marty, Coach K and their Blue Devils survive against Texas Tech. The magic continues for Duke as they are one win away from a Final Four. In their way, the Muss Bus as his Razorbacks beat down the top team in the nation, Gonzaga. What happened to the Bulldogs? Can Arkansas take down the 1 and 2 seeds in the region and advance to New Orleans?
In the South region, the 1-seed Arizona fell to Houston. The Cougars dominated from start to finish in front of a majority home crowd. They now take on Villanova after the Wildcats beat Michigan. Is there a more sure bet than Jay Wright's Wildcats in March?

Providence Head Coach Ed Cooley + Sweet 16 Preview
2022/03/23
On today's Sweet 16 preview, the guys break down each of Thursday and Friday's 8 games. Off the top, Marty and Rico address the weekend's drama involg Ohio's Tate.
Then we move onto Thursday's first game - Gonzaga and Arkansas. Do the Razorbacks have a shot against the top team in the nation? And is Gonzaga still the favorite to win it all? Then we go down the region to the Duke-Texas Tech matchup. Will Coach K's final dance come to an end in the Sweet 16? Will elite defense win out over great offense?
Then we move to the South Region where Arizona-Houston and Michigan-Villanova fight for spots in the Elite 8. Can the Wolverines March run continue against a red-hot Wildcats team? And after escaping disaster against TCU, can Arizona bounce back and take down an under-the-radar Cougars squad?
We then welcome on the Big Dog, Providence head coach Ed Cooley. Coach Cooley's Friars are heading to the Sweet 16 in a matchup against 1-seed Kansas. Coach talks about the vibe in his locker room heading into the Sweet 16 and what it will take to beat a top ranked Jayhawks team. Plus - Coach Cooley talks about how he's preparing his team for the biggest stage of their basketball lives.
Next we move onto the Cinderella story of the tournament, the St. Peter's Peacocks, who take on the Purdue Boilermakers. Does Shaheen Holloway's Peacocks have enough magic to take down another giant? Are the Boilermakers too big and too talented to lose? The winner of that will take on a blue-blood, either UNC or UCLA. Can the Tar Heels late-season run continue? How hurt is Jaime Jaquez and can that derail the Bruins?
And finally we head to the Midwest region where 1-seeded Kansas takes on the Big Dog's Providence Friars. Can the magical season for Providence continue to the Elite 8? Are we most confident in the Jayhawks to make the Final Four? Either the Jayhawks or Friars will play a double-digit seed in the Elite 8. 10-seeded Miami takes on 11-seed Iowa State to round out the round of 16.
We end things touching on the coaching carousel including Kevin Willard's move to Maryland and Sean Miller's return to Xavier.
