If you wanted a story about John Stewart's origin or a feel-good Hal Jordan romp or a tale of galactic space cops out doing police work this isn't it. If you want a CliffsNotes version of the Rann–Thanagar War smashed in between '90s Green Lantern bookends then we've got good news for you. We still liked it but to put Green Lantern in the title is a bit misleading when it's a DC Universe movie. I guess realistically this is close to an Adam Strange cross-over movie. He ties things together the most but I doubt that many people would be interested in buying an Adam Strange DVD so we get what we have. You can judge us for watching this movie all you want but when we both first watched this movie we were so ready for something that was absolutely dreadful that we enjoyed it. Now without those rose colored glasses we realize it is absolutely dreadful. Stay for the Jaguars, Tip Toe, Below, and a brief story of a dog killing a squirrel. "Dirt and Stars." Respect to the show runners for answering most of our questions but did we like it? You are gonna have to listen to figure out. Then stay for our American Football rundown and a sneak peak into what we've personally got going on for the spooky season. How many men could a manhunter hunt if a manhunter did hunt men? "The Jordan Boys’ Legacy⁩." We are setup for the finale to answer a lot of our questions. A lot of people are saying that Hal isn't really dead. A lot of people are begging for Parallax to be revealed. Jim lays out his theories for how this all goes down. Everybody should feel bad for Hal now. Also the fan favorite Jacksonville Jaguars recap segment. They took advantage every misstep that the Patriots took and came out looking like a very capable team. "Bad Optics." Come for the Lanterns but stay for the Jaguars recap. This episode of Lanterns was definitely better than the entirety of Week 2 of the NFL so maybe don't stay for the Football talk. Not answering any questions but setting the scene for where things are going with the rest of the season. We get Guy Gardner and his great bowl cut hairdo making a proper appearance. What's the deal with the space box that can only be unlocked by Hal's voice? What was Early doing for 10 years? They absolutely hit fast-forward on resolving the 2016 Rushville Nebraska stuff. The Manhunter is revealed. The Manhunter's M.O. is revealed. The pleasures that Hal has experienced in space are revealed. The whole crystal heart thing was real. So what have they got cooking for the last 3 episodes. We gotta get Guy Gardner right? You hear that Kwik Trip is removing all their hot dog rollers grills because people were gravitating towards the grab-and-go items instead of needing to use tongs and build their own snacks? That's the best reference to a weenie that I've got. Clearly the Guardian hologram isn't a real Guardian. The real question is how deep does that lie go. Is Sinestro involved? Who is actually the Manhunter? How much do Zoe and Will Macon know about each other? Is it as straightforward as anybody thinks? Really building the intrigue but I get that this can't live up to the magic of last episode. Can we all come together as one peoples and agree that this is the best episode so far? Great placement for this bit of story telling in the 8 episode season. But what's the deal with Guardians giving out diamonds for people in emotional distress. They think they can just buy off humans? Jim didn't want them to go deep into Green Lantern lore but that's where we are going and so far it's working out. We just need them to make sure they stick the landing. Mogo, Earl, Manhunters, Sinestro. We are getting deep into the mythos that'll need a lot of exploration. Everybody said it was going to be True Detective meets DC and I was skeptical but it works. It works great and we are glad to be along for the ride. Hal Jordan very reluctantly training his replacement for reasons we don't know why yet. Who is doing these murders? Are the Manhunters involved? Is that a real rural Nebraska accent? So many threads to untangle as we continue on this season. High hopes that it delivers. The visions what we had for the last two episodes did a lot more to tie up loose ends and had a lot more of Apocalypse being nasty. We don't want to be this critical about something we generally enjoyed watching but it is such a big let down from Season 1 that it's hard for just to be zen about everything. ApocaGambit vs ApocaRogue? What?!? Send us an email: [email protected] Visit us on the web: https://www.lostlight.stream Listen to all our TAPEDECK podmates at: https://solo.to/tapedeck

As much as we love Colossus and we love Nightcrawler this episode wasn't giving us what we needed this close to the end of the season. We have a great time predicting what is going on with this whole Gambit & Apocalypse thing though. Does anybody care about all the pile of mutants in the background shots? When the Danger Room decides to ramp up the "danger" and downplay the "room" this is what you get. We both agreed that the old version where Professor X imprisons a life form in the Danger Room so that he can train his students and then it's a revenge story is a better version of this. Also looking forward to Undead Tarot Gambit when that happens. "They nerfed the Brood." Weapon X, Lies, and DVDs -- But before that we talk about the Heated Rivalry/X-Men connection that nobody wants to discuss. We get into Wolverine's strange history with the Weapon X Project. Caleb gushes over Maverick. Garrison Kane has a situation on screen that... nobody feels bad for him. We revisit the cover of Uncanny X-Men #268. All in all it's a nice little stand alone episode. No clue where this goes next.
