We're in the Dignity era... and this is only part 1! I will be covering Dignity across 2 episodes because I feel like people don't really get what a massive turning point this was for her life and career. 2006 was a tumultuous year during which she took control of her brand and more importantly, herself. This first part of Dignity leads us out of Most Wanted into Material Girls, some scandalous comments from Hilary, Play With Fire, and With Love -- the perfume, the song, the video, and the utter ICONERY that occurred due to her legendary soft choreo. I finish up by talking about the transformation of her movie career with her interesting turn in the political satire film War, Inc. PATREON Subscribers heard this episode completely ad-free! The new Hilary episode is here!! There is so much in this one because girl this era was A LOT. So many changes for Miss Duff during this time, from her music to her relationship with Joel Madden, her appearance, online bullying, feuds, and the downfall of her movie career. As these changes occurred, Hilary and her team struggled to grapple with them and keep up the same old media narratives that had worked previously. If you watch interviews from this era month by month, you see Hilary get thinner and thinner, more and more exhausted and frustrated with the media and the fame she wanted when she was still way too young to know what she was getting into. It's a really fascinating thing to break down, so I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed making it! MY DREAM CAME TRUE!!! I interviewed one of my all time favorite singer/songwriters, JC Chasez of *NSYNC at GalaxyCon last weekend. This episode includes the full, unedited interview as well as my wonderful guests Lizzi and Steph from @thinkingofnsync to help break it all down. They were also two of the lucky content creators that were chosen to have face time with JC so you get their perspectives on that as well including some nostalgic *NSYNC stories, how they went from regular fanpage to interviewing almost the whole group, and more! Well, it's been quite a ride since I asked my favorite band since age 12, Hanson, to do a giveaway with me and they said YES!! In this episode I explain what it's like to go from fan to fan with a platform... surreal. I talk about the 4 Hanson shows and 1 Taylor Hanson show I went to from June-July including the dates we did the giveaway for: July 16th at the Cape Cod Melody Tent and July 19th at the South Shore Music Circus in MA. Hanson was kind enough to not only let me giveaway tickets and meet & greets, but gave some to me too so of course I had to share how life changingly supportive they were when I finally got to thank them for believing in what I do enough to collab with me. Thank you Taylor, Isaac, and Zac!!! This is what dreams are made of, indeed.

Last month, a dream come true! I got to go backstage and interview Jessica Simpson at her show in Pennsylvania. This is the full version of the clips posted on my socials, so for those of you who follow me, it won't be new. I wanted to post it on the podcast feed and also include the behind the scenes of how it all went down and give a little concert review. I hope you'll all get to see Jessica in concert soon when more dates are announced -- seeing her live is a very special experience. Thank you so much to Jessica and her team for the wonderful opportunity! Podcast Merch: https://ultimate-fangirl-apparel.printify.me/ PATREON Subscribers heard this episode completely ad-free! It's a couples episode!!! Join me to relive one of the most iconic on and off screen relationships of the 2000s! Ryan Gosling & Rachel McAdams met during production of The Notebook and instantly hated each other... so naturally, 2 years later they were madly in love. It's a fine line, people. I explain the on-set drama that lead up to an awkward press tour and eventually their real life romance blooming. I also talk about the impact of The Notebook on all of our lives, what makes the movie so effective, what's great about it and what's not so great. Finally, I share clips and quotes of the two fawning over each other during and after the relationship ended. *Everything in this episode is alleged or my opinion* MERCH: https://ultimate-fangirl-apparel.printify.me/ PATREON Subscribers heard this episode completely ad-free! I've made hundreds of episodes about artists i'm hugely passionate about, but never covered my favorite band, Hanson. Why? I have too much to say about how much I love their music and the way they move through life and the industry... and frankly, I wouldn't know where to begin. Since I'm hosting a giveaway of Hanson tickets and meet & greets for a couple of their shows this summer, I figured it was finally the time to attempt it. I hope it's entertaining for die-hard fans who can relate to everything I'm saying as well as my listeners who maybe aren't as familiar. In this episode, I explain why Hanson is one of the most uniquely talented and savvy bands in music history, talking about their early days that turned into worldwide success and ultimately the creation of their own independent label, 3CG Records. I cover three of their most important songs, sharing personal stories as to why they're so meaningful to me and many of their fans as well as recounting some recent exciting experiences I've had with the band. Finally, I give my opinion about the rumors swirling in the fandom that Hanson might be winding down. After 34 years, are they closing shop, or just getting started? A new documentary on what it was REALLY like to be a member of a 90s/00s boy band has been released on Investigation Discovery and HBO Max. Produced by Joey Fatone of *NSYNC, this two-part series goes a lot farther than the myriad of others produced on the subject. Here I go through 5 moments that stood out to me, but really there is SO MUCH more that I could not possibly cover so you should definitely check it out for yourself and let me know your thoughts! Imagine this: you're one of the most famous teenagers the world over. Your hormones are raging, you're dealing with peer pressure from friends, wishing you had more privacy, trying to form your identity, writing about Aaron Carter in your diary, and much more. You've starred in the most popular Disney Channel show ever, the biggest Disney Channel Original Movie ever, and just had multiple box office hits as well. So of course, the only thing to do is make an album. But hold on -- you have little to no musical talent, so a team has been assembled to help you create something your already adoring fans will love just as much as Lizzie McGuire. You have to figure out how to say lines like "if the light is off then it isn't on" and "if you can't do the math, then get out of the equation" convincingly, while hoping to impress your hot (and older) co-star. The genre of music they want you to sing is not your favorite and not what you think is cool... and being cool is what you want more than anything. You know how brutal the media and fans can be and you've already had multiple people say negative things about you publicly unprovoked. You are extremely anxious, especially because you are so busy that you sometimes forget to eat. You are tired all the time, but refuse to pull back on your work ethic, and there is no adult who will demand you take time off. You're worried everyone is going to see through the fact that you maybe aren't prepared for all this, that the whole thing will crash and burn, leaving you mortified with low sales, horrible reviews, and endless shit-talking from your peers. But then... the album comes out and goes to #1. You had nothing to worry about because you are THE DIVA!!!! Is it the best album ever? Well no! That's okay though... we love it anyway!!! Let's get into Hilary Duff's music career and her debut smash hit album, Metamorphosis. Saddle up everyone… this episode covers a LOT! We’re getting into all the tea on Cadet Kelly, Agent Cody Banks, and The Lizzie McGuire Movie today. Due to the towering success of Lizzie, Hilary Duff was able to transition pretty seamlessly into movies. This is where we have to take a closer look at Hilary’s parents, especially her mother Susan, who has been called the “ultimate stage mom” … but was she? In some ways, I admire her for being a trailblazer in terms of taking no shit from Hollywood CEOs and protecting her daughters on and off set. On the other hand, some recent revelations from Hilary changed this episode mid-edit when I felt I could no longer defend her mother. The drama continues as LaLaine (Miranda on Lizzie McGuire) exits the show just 6 episodes shy of the finale and also doesn’t participate in the movie, another issue many have blamed on Susan. More on set issues occurred as Hilary was unhappy with the music she was given to sing (I use that term loosely) in the movie and the outfits she wore… but the it turned out ICONIC anyway!!! Or did it? Many prefer the show to the film… what do you think? However you see it, Susan Duff definitely was a powerhouse… for better or for worse.
