“This is very kind of you” — chapter 14 — Upon hearing that a man had come forward to sacrifice his life in the lake, the princess danced with joy. She would do her part of the bargain, grateful for someone to be doing theirs. “Look at the rain!” — chapter 15 — the transformation in the princess undid the magic of her wicked aunt and ushered in a new era for the entire kingdom.

“Here I am” — chapter 13 — needing a willing volunteer to give up his life for the princess and lake, the king sent out word throughout the whole kingdom in hopes of a hero among his people. Only one such hero emerged.

“Where is the Prince?” — chapter 12 — Having gone some time without seeing the princess, the prince resolves to go undercover and get whatever information he could find.

“Where is she?” — chapter 4 — not responding to gravity causes issues for those caring for the young princess. “What is to be done?” — chapter 5 — as much as the downstairs staff enjoy the peculiarities of the princess, the royal family upstairs are brought to the ends of themselves not knowing what to make of such a child. “She laughs too much” — chapter 6 — now gown up, it’s become apparent that the princess is not only light in weight, but also light in her approach to all things of life.

No children?” — chapter 1 — we meet a king and queen from long ago who had no children. “Won’t I, just?” — chapter 2 — at last, the king and queen had a daughter, but neglected to invite one important guest to the christening. “She can’t be ours!” — chapter 3 — the mischief done, it is discovered how the spiteful guest has bewitched the new princess.

“The bend in the road” — given all the sorrows of the summer, and all the uncertainties of the future, Anne makes a drastic decision, one that changes the course of her life, and brings hope to the future of Green Gables.
