Torah Portion "בהעלתך/Beha'alotecha" which means "When you Kindle," delivered on June 18, 2022. This week's portion covers Numbers/Bemidbar 8:1-12:16 and begins, "And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying, 'Speak to Aharon, and say to him, "When you ascend to trim the lamps, let the seven lamps give light in front of the lampstand." ' "In his teaching today, Ro’eh covered a lot of material that was gleaned from just the verses found in Numbers 10:28-30. He revealed similarities between the stories of Yitro (Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law) and Ruth. We also learned the importance of the order and positions of the tribes when moving from one site to the next, and why it is important to stop comparing our present circumstances to our past, and to stop complaining about it. How is complaining like hatred, and what is the opposite of complaining? We also learn the mussar (character trait) that is found in this portion, that of humility (anavah in Hebrew). Torah Portion "בחקתי/Bechukotai" which means "In My Statutes," delivered on May 28, 2022.This week's portion covers Leviticus 26:3-27:34, and begins, "‘If you walk in My laws and guard My commands, and shall do them,'"Why does it seem as if the whole world is cursed? This week’s Torah portion is relevant to the current times and may hold some answers. To the degree we continue to act contrary to the Torah (His ways), He will act with hostility toward us and deliver us into the hands of our enemies. What can we, as Torah observant believers in Yeshua, do to mitigate the curses destined for the whole world? Why is dissatisfaction a curse? The Hebrew word for "dead" is revealed to mean something deeper and greater than the simple surface definition and Ro'eh makes a connection to a statement that Yeshua makes when he says “the dead are to bury their own dead." Ro'eh Richard also makes a connection to the previous parasha when it says in Leviticus 20:27 that a spiritist or medium is to be put to death. Ro'eh also poses the questions, "Why is a leader worthy of double honor? And why are we to submit to the leaders that Hashem puts in our lives?" These questions are answered by Ro'eh Richard in a very enlightening way. Also in this parasha, it says a daughter of a priest is to be burned if she commits adultery. Why the burning and not the typical prescribed manner of punishment of death by stoning? We'll see the importance and the distinction between a daughter of Am Yisrael and a daughter of a priest. Or is it founded on how we view our neighbor and his life compared to ours? Many will argue that it's the small things that mean the most to Hashem but should that really be our primary focus? If we look so closely at the splinter in our brother's eye who is failing in these small matters, we fail to recognize the plank in our own and lose sight of the big picture. Thus possibly pushing others away from the Light of the Torah, our path, and the saving grace of others in this world. After the death of ourselves when we stop saying “I have the right, I am entitled” and we realize that we have no rights as we serve HaShem in holiness versus (Lev 18:3) “You shall not do what is done in the land of Egypt where you lived nor are you to do what is done in the land of Canaan where I am bringing you. You shall not walk in their statutes.”Canaanites and others promoted temple prostitution in their fertility worship. Israel was to be different and Holy. The Chumash states that culture is an accumulation of practices where many of which are not in the least logical. The Torah cautions us to avoid falling into habit-forming, mind-molding traps of imitating the practices of alien societies. We are to submit and surrender our social & moral life to HaShem, which is not religion but a way of life EVERYDAY.Pastor concluded with the Mussar connection regarding “responsibility” which is the hidden root of Acharei. We are accountable to one another and we ARE our brother’s keeper. He also tied this to the scapegoat ritual: one man is atoning for Israel with a live goat. He lays the sins on the head of the goat and sends it away to the wilderness. To make a donation towards our Building Completion costs, please CLICK HERE: https://rb.gy/xhzhsdSpecial Portion "מצות/Matzot” which means “Unleavened Bread” delivered on April 22, 2022.This week's portion covers Exodus 13:17-15:26 and begins, "And it came to be, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that Elohim did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, though that was nearer, for Elohim said, 'Lest the people regret when they see fighting, and return to Mitsrayim.' ”In the teaching today, Ro’eh Richard teaches that our mussar (character trait) is “Bitachon” (absolute trust and reassurance). The teaching focuses on Exodus 15:22-26, with specificity to the Hebrew word “nisy“ which means “plucked out, pull out, and to break up from an encampment.” The Israelites were camped at the bitter waters of Marah and many people died there as a result of their own bitterness. Before they moved on from there, Hashem gave them statutes and rules. The great sage Rambam said that these rules were given in order that the Jewish people learn to pray for their needs without grumbling and to get along with each other during their journey through the wilderness. "This is the chapter that Rabbi’s have chosen for the first day of Pesach. Pastor Richard shows the connection of Yeshua with the Exodus out of Egypt. It is said that Moshe will be the first and last Redeemer … Not literally himself, but that the last redeemer will have the virtues of Moshe, the Law of God.In Exodus 12:38, where the scripture reveals that Israel was “driven” out of Egypt, we see the Hebrew word for "driven" has to do with “divorced,” so in the future the ruler of this world will “divorce” us.After 430 years to the day the payment for transgressions was complete and then DELIVERANCE. Pastor Richard shows how Chazal (sages) teach that until that particular hour (debt paid} they were not worthy and we see this concept also in Matthew 24: 22 "And except those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened." (Was and will time be manipulated?) In HaShem’s loving kindness he is looking for ways to redeem us from our present exile.On the 6th day of creation Adam broke covenant and in 6000 years that debt will also be complete and again there will be DELIVERANCE.Watch to see all of this teaching with the exciting conclusion of the future FINAL Redemption and how the difference of being driven to the wilderness (from Egypt) and how we will be allured to the wilderness where there will be HIS provision for us and the judgment to purge the rebels.
