Dating Is Hard: Flirting Fails, Mixed Signals & Relationships
2026/10/20
Dating Is Hard: Flirting Fails, Mixed Signals & Relationships Why is flirting so awkward, and how do some people end up in relationships when the rest of us can barely tell if someone likes us? This week on Red Eye & Erratic Asthmatic, we're talking about dating disasters, missed signals, terrible pickup lines, and the confusing business of finding someone. One of us once got a yes to a dinner invitation at a wedding and somehow followed it up by telling her not to forget she promised. We unpack the difference between being friendly and flirting, wonder how some couples get together after barely exchanging a couple of head nods, and question whether people are looking for love… or just someone to split the rent with. Plus: marriage deals with friends, whether we're actually ready for long-term relationships, how much you'd change for a partner, and the important question of whether having only three recipes makes you a terrible future partner. In this episode: Flirting fails and confusing romantic signals Awkward approaches and terrible pickup lines Dating for love versus splitting the bills The pressure to settle down and get married Are we ready for a serious relationship? Cleaning, cooking, and changing your habits for someone else Love is confusing. Dating is awkward. And apparently, becoming a good partner might require learning more than three recipes. 🎧 Listen, laugh, and let us know

Spending Money to Save Money
2026/10/06
Sometimes spending money is actually saving money… apparently. This week on Red Eye & Erratic Asthmatic, we get into the strange ways we justify spending money from stacking discounts and gift cards to somehow turning a €449 washing machine into a €49 washing machine. We also get into the nightmare of buying gifts for adults, questionable birthday traditions, why free food turns coworkers into animals, the awkwardness of receiving a terrible present, and why gift cards might secretly be the safest gift of all. Then there's laundry, moving house, rearranging bedrooms, broken suitcases and the eternal struggle of finding more space… only to immediately fill it with more stuff. It's another conversation about money, shopping, gifts, chores and all the little decisions that somehow become complicated. Spending money to save money. That's how it works, right?

Hot Takes We Have to Defend: iPhones, Marvel & Airplane Seats
2026/09/22
How controversial can a few completely ordinary opinions get? In this episode of Red Eye & Erratic Asthmatic, we're bringing back the hot take challenge, where one of us has to defend a statement, whether we actually agree with it or not. First up: the iPhone is a terrible phone. We get into iPhone vs Android, simplicity vs capability, notifications, chargers, iMessage, autocorrect, cameras and why being "intuitive" doesn't always mean being better. Then we turn our attention to Marvel movies. Are they actually overrated, or are we just expecting too much from superhero movies? We get into Spider-Man, the multiverse, casting, sequels, CGI, nostalgia and why Hollywood keeps going back to the same franchises. Then comes the airplane debate: Window seat or aisle seat? More legroom, easier bathroom access and getting off the plane faster or the ability to look out the window and lean against the wall? And finally, we tackle whether morning people are actually more productive than night owls, or whether productivity simply depends on the person. Four hot takes. Plenty of arguments. And absolutely no guarantee that either of us will still agree with our own opinion by the end.

Growing Up and Realizing Adults Were Making It Up
2026/09/08
At some point growing up, you realise something terrifying: adults don't actually know everything. In this episode of Red Eye & Erratic Asthmatic, we look back at the things we genuinely believed as kids and the ridiculous things adults told us along the way. Santa Claus. The Tooth Fairy. Superheroes. Parents who seemed to have all the answers. Teachers who were supposed to know everything. Then you get older and start noticing that maybe the adults were just… making it up as they went. From childhood beliefs and strange family traditions to questionable teachers, bizarre classroom experiences, ridiculous school punishments, and discovering that your parents weren't necessarily the perfect students they expected you to be — this conversation turns into a hilarious look at what happens when childhood innocence meets adult reality. Because eventually you stop asking: “Why did I believe that?” …and start asking: “Wait… who was actually supposed to know what they were doing?” 🎙️ Red Eye & Erratic Asthmatic

Back to School, Bad Decisions
2026/08/25
Back to school means back to the memories we probably should've left behind. Red Eye and Erratic Asthmatic are digging through the childhood archives and discovering just how many questionable decisions, terrible ideas, and unnecessary injuries happened before adulthood. This episode starts with childhood pranks — including a senior prank involving a stink bomb and a school intercom — before getting into ridiculous sibling arguments, trying way too hard to impress someone you liked, and the strange things kids do just to look cool. Then things get painful. Broken collarbones. Glass doors. Bike crashes. Forehead injuries. Basketballs to the throat. Somehow, they both made it through childhood. And naturally, half the memories don't even appear until they're put on the spot. What was the dumbest thing you fought with your siblings over? What's the stupidest injury you ever got as a kid? And what ridiculous thing did you do just to impress someone? Welcome back to school.

Table for Three: Solo Travel, Driving Tests & Dutch Bike Chaos
2026/08/11
What happens when you travel alone, your holiday plans suddenly change, and you start wondering whether €3,000 is better spent on a driving license or a holiday? Red Eye and Erratic Asthmatic get into all of it. The conversation starts with Erratic trying to reorganize a complicated trip after plans change and the realization that planning a holiday is already annoying enough without having to do it twice. That leads into the joys of travelling alone: no schedules, no arguing over restaurants, no waiting for someone who doesn't want to go somewhere, and absolutely nobody stopping you from booking a table for three when it's just you, yourself and I. The guys also debate whether the best way to plan a trip is simply to find the food first and build everything else around it. Then comes the €3,000 question. Should you spend thousands getting a Dutch driving license, or take the money and disappear somewhere for a week instead? From the cost of driving lessons and exams to public transport, car insurance, road tax and parking, the guys try to work out whether owning a car actually makes sense in the Netherlands. And naturally, the conversation ends up exactly where you'd expect: Dutch bikes. Shark teeth. Right of way. Crosswalks that apparently function more like suggestions. And the shocking revelation that Erratic hasn't ridden a bicycle in years despite living in the Netherlands. It's another episode full of travel problems, first-world problems, bad financial decisions, Dutch road survival and plenty of shenanigans. 🎧 Listen now

Summer Shenan Agains | Ralph Barbosa, Vegan Food & Dutch Summer Chaos
2026/07/21
Our summer shenanigans go on! This week on Red Eye & Erratic Asthmatic, we catch up after another Amsterdam adventure. We talk about surviving the Dutch heat, the strange news about water shortages in a country surrounded by water, and how AI somehow gets blamed for everything. We also head into Amsterdam to watch Ralph Barbosa's live comedy show, break down his crowd work, and talk about why European audiences react so differently from American crowds. Before the show, we discover Green Farmers, a fully vegan fast food restaurant that completely surprised us. Vegan fish that smells like fish. Vegan chicken that tastes like real chicken. Burgers, fries, sauces and whether this might actually be one of the best vegan fast food spots we've tried in the Netherlands. We also get into overpriced tacos, Dutch public transport frustrations, upcoming food adventures, Vegan Pizza Bar, Kenyan food, travel stories, and the random conversations that somehow always happen when Red Eye and Erratic Asthmatic sit behind a microphone. If you enjoy comedy podcasts, food reviews, Amsterdam stories, random conversations, travel experiences, vegan food, stand up comedy and two friends talking absolute nonsense, this episode is for you. 🎧 New episodes every week.
