176: You Didn't Attract This. But You Are Reinforcing It
2026/10/13
You can change your entire life and still run the same old loop. Have money and still worry about losing it. Have a loving partner and still scan for where things will fall apart. Have a team and still carry everyone’s work. I know because I did all three. In this episode, I’m taking you back to an afternoon at McDonald’s as a single mom raising three kids on $24,000 a year. I bought one Happy Meal to split between them. My kids were smiling in the pictures. Behind the camera, I felt completely humiliated. My life eventually changed. Some of the responses I learned during those years stayed with me. That’s what we’re unpacking today. I’m sharing my practical interpretation of karma and dharma: karma is momentum. Dharma is direction. These ideas help explain how familiar responses keep creating familiar evidence, even inside a life you worked hard to build. I’ll walk you through: Why I reject the idea that you attracted every painful thing that happened to you. The five-part loop: Experience → Meaning → Response → Result → Reinforcement. How your old identity shapes the meaning you give an experience. A fictional business owner named Jess who keeps finishing her team’s work at 11 p.m. How helping everyone can reinforce the belief that everything depends on you. Why pleasing, fixing, and overworking provide such quick relief. Where you can interrupt the loop through your next honest response. Why discomfort doesn’t automatically mean you’re off track. How repeated aligned choices build evidence for the woman you’re becoming. Here’s what I want you to take from this conversation: Your defaults are old strategies that once protected you. You can begin choosing a different response. Send the unfinished work back. Ask for support. Tell the truth. Hold the boundary through the discomfort. You don’t control every outcome. You can practice how you show up. Your reflection for this week Take a situation in your life that keeps repeating. Finish this sentence out loud: “See, I knew…” Whatever comes next is a clue to the identity that’s been collecting evidence. Get curious about it. Your past has momentum. It doesn’t get the final say. 175: The House That Made No Sense
2026/10/06
You have a dream you keep calling “someday.” The house. The move. The book. The thing you barely admit you want. You’re waiting for the numbers to work. For the plan to make sense. For someone to tell you it’s possible. But a woman who has decided moves differently. In this episode, I’m taking you back to the house Chris and I fell in love with two weeks into dating. We didn’t know where it was. We didn’t have the finances figured out. Building it made absolutely no sense on paper. Today, I’m recording this episode inside that house. I’m also celebrating the release of Unblocked. Another dream I had to move toward before I knew how it would turn out. Through the stories of our home, our pool, my book, and my daughter’s move to the Netherlands, I’m sharing what changes when you stop treating your desire like a distant possibility. You don’t attract what you want. You become available to it. Inside this episode: The difference between hoping for something and deciding. How a decision changes your questions, conversations, and actions. Why the next step often appears before the whole plan. The cost of pushing through something you’re not aligned with. What our children learn from watching us pursue our dreams. Why fear and pride can exist in the same moment. What being unblocked means beyond the book. This conversation also makes room for an important truth: hardship is not proof of failed alignment. Illness, loss, and painful experiences are not your fault because your “frequency was off.” You can choose differently without blaming yourself for everything you’ve lived through. Your invitation this week Name the thing you want. The one that feels a little embarrassing to say out loud. What would your next step look like as a woman who has decided? 174: The Dream I Hid for 8 Years
2026/09/29
In 2018, I told my husband I wanted to write a book. We were alone on a hike in Singapore. My hands were shaking. I could barely say it out loud to the person who loved me most. Then came the questions. Who am I to write a book? What would I even say? What if people read it and decide I’m wrong about my own life? I didn’t go home and start writing. Life was messy. I kept coaching women, studying human behavior, building my work, and living through experiences I hadn’t yet learned how to put into words. I also wrote chapters for three anthologies. Each one gave me a little more evidence that I could share my story. Now my solo book, UNBLOCKED, is coming out. I thought the hardest part would be writing it. Turns out, I could have edited it forever. There was always one more sentence to fix and one more story to soften. At some point, editing became a way to hide. In this episode, I’m sharing what happened between that shaky conversation in 2018 and the decision to let the book go. I talk about the old identity I carried into a new life, the fear of being seen, and why you don’t have to feel like the woman who can hold your dream before you take one step toward it. I also share how UNBLOCKED and The Unblocked Integration Journal work together. The book helps you see your patterns. The journal helps you practice choosing differently. In this episode: Why it took me eight years to write the book I wanted How an old identity can keep running a life that has already changed What writing for three anthologies taught me about using my voice How I caught myself using perfectionism to delay being seen One question to ask when a dream still scares you Before you finish listening, name the thing you keep talking yourself out of. Notice what shows up right after you say it. You don’t have to make the fear disappear. What’s one response you could take that would give you evidence you can hold what you want? UNBLOCKED comes out October 6. If you named your dream while listening, DM me. I would love to hear it. 173: What If You Just Asked? The Scary Ask That Could Change Your Life with Patty Aubery
2026/09/22
How many times have you talked yourself out of asking for what you wanted because you were already convinced the answer would be no? You decided you weren’t ready. You told yourself you hadn’t earned it. You assumed someone would notice your work and offer you the opportunity without you ever having to say a word. Look, I get it. Speaking up can feel terrifying, especially when you’ve spent years being the woman behind the scenes. In this episode of The Unblocked Woman, I’m talking with Patty Aubery, a powerhouse speaker, bestselling author, and transformational coach who knows exactly what it means to stop hiding and give yourself permission to be seen. Patty began her career as a secretary for Jack Canfield. Within months, she had reorganized the business and named herself vice president of operations. She later became president of the company and spent decades helping build Chicken Soup for the Soul into a billion-dollar brand. She co-authored 14 Chicken Soup for the Soul books, including three New York Times bestsellers. One of her books had one million copies in its first print run. But none of it would have happened if Patty hadn’t made one big, scary ask. That’s what hit me during this conversation. The opportunity that feels enormous to you may not feel enormous to the person receiving the request. Sometimes, the rejection you’re trying to avoid hasn’t even happened. You simply removed yourself from the room before anyone else could answer. Patty also opens up about the years she spent helping other people become visible while staying safely behind the scenes herself. Her mother’s final words changed that: “I did not raise a daughter to be invisible.” Today, Patty helps women show up, speak up, and be seen. She brings real strategy, decades of experience, hard-earned wisdom, and the loving kick in the pants we sometimes need. In this episode, we talk about: The bold decision that changed Patty’s career What it took to build Chicken Soup for the Soul before the success arrived Why women take themselves out of the game before anyone says no The hidden cost of waiting for people to recognize your value Why copying someone else’s success can leave your work feeling flat The difference between buying another strategy and becoming the woman who can carry the vision Why asking for help gives someone else the opportunity to contribute What it really means to tell the truth faster Being an unblocked woman doesn’t mean fear disappears. It means you stop letting fear make every decision. Do the scary thing. Make the ask. Say what you actually want. The answer might change your life. About Patty Patty Aubery is a powerhouse speaker, bestselling author, and transformational coach. She spent decades behind the scenes helping build Chicken Soup for the Soul into a billion-dollar brand. She co-authored multiple New York Times bestsellers and helped shape a movement that reached millions of people. Today, Patty helps women stop hiding, start speaking, and give themselves full permission to be seen, heard, and fully expressed. Her work combines practical strategy, hard-earned wisdom, and honest encouragement for women ready to rewrite their stories and step into leadership. 172: Why You Keep Becoming The Same Version of You
2026/09/15
You can know better and still keep doing the same thing. You can know you need to set the boundary and still say yes. Know you don’t need another opinion and still ask five people. Know you’re capable and still overthink the decision. Know you need support and still insist on doing everything yourself. Why? Because knowing better and being patterned differently are two completely different things. In this episode, I’m breaking down The Loop™—the identity pattern that explains why we can keep recreating familiar results even when we consciously want something different. I’ll walk you through: The Loop™: Experience → Meaning → Response → Result → Reinforcement How The Default Loop™ keeps reinforcing who you’ve learned to be How The Aligned Loop™ helps you create evidence for who you’re becoming Why your identity influences the meaning you give an experience The “See? I knew it” moment that quietly reinforces old patterns Why changing your identity takes more than positive thinking or affirmations How to interrupt the Loop without needing to fully believe the new identity yet Real-life examples around self-trust, people-pleasing, boundaries, visibility, business, perfectionism, receiving, and success The one question that can help you catch the pattern in real time: Which identity is running the Loop? Here’s the biggest thing I want you to take from this episode: The woman you’re becoming needs evidence, not just affirmations. Every time you choose an aligned response—even while the old fear, guilt, or uncertainty is still there—you create another piece of evidence for who you’re becoming. You don’t have to change everything at once. See the Loop. Interrupt the Loop. Align the Loop. One rep at a time. 171: You Didn’t Choose This. But You Choose What Happens Next.
2026/09/08
There are things in life you never would have chosen. The betrayal. The divorce. The diagnosis. The loss. The way someone treated you. The decision someone else made that changed the direction of your life. Taking responsibility for your life does not mean taking responsibility for everything that has happened to you. Some things were unfair. Some things hurt deeply. Some things changed your life through no choice of your own. But eventually, there is another question. What am I going to do now? In this episode, I’m sharing a conversation I had with one of my oldest friends that made me think differently about responsibility, patterns, and personal power. Two people can go through hard things and tell themselves completely different stories about what those experiences mean. One story says, “Look at what I’ve survived. Look at what I’ve learned. What can I choose from here?” Another says, “Why does this always happen to me?” Neither erases what happened. But the story you repeat can begin shaping the choices you make next. That is where patterns start. Choice becomes repetition. Repetition becomes pattern. Patterns, when practiced long enough, can start to feel like identity. And eventually, you can stop realizing you are choosing any of it at all. This is why awareness matters so much. The second you can see the pattern, you reopen the possibility of choice. This episode is not about pretending everything happens for a reason. It is not about blaming yourself for what someone else did. It is about asking a different question: What is actually mine now? Your boundary. Your response. Your standards. The help you ask for. The truth you finally admit. Your next decision. Sometimes taking your power back is not a huge, dramatic move. It might be telling someone you are not okay. It might be asking for help. It might be choosing not to send the text you know you will regret tomorrow. It might be saying, “I have no freaking idea what I’m doing, but I know I can’t keep doing this.” That still counts. In this episode, I talk about: • The difference between blame and responsibility • How repeated choices become patterns • Why awareness gives you access to choice again • What it means to identify what is actually yours • How to stop letting an old pattern choose for you • Why small choices still build personal power • The question that helped me through some of my hardest moments I also walk you through a simple exercise. Make two columns. On one side, write: What isn’t mine to control. On the other: What is mine to choose. You cannot control what someone says about you. You can choose whether you engage. You cannot control whether someone understands you. You can choose how you show up. You cannot change what happened five years ago. You can notice what you are allowing today because of it. Then ask yourself: What pattern wants to choose for me here? What am I choosing that keeps creating more of what I say I don’t want? What choice will I respect a year from now? You do not have to solve your entire life today. Find the choice that is actually available to you today. A Line to Sit With: “I may not have chosen how I got here, but I am here, and I don’t have to keep choosing what keeps me here.” Your life is not only the sum of what has happened to you. It is also the sum of what you choose in response. You may not get to choose every circumstance. But you still get to choose who you become inside of it. 170: How to Trust Yourself More Than Other People’s Opinions with Rosie Milsom
2026/09/01
You know what you want to do. Then five minutes later, you’re asking three people what they think, running it through ChatGPT again, second-guessing the decision, and trying to find some kind of guarantee that you’re making the “right” choice. That’s the pattern we’re talking about in this episode. I’m joined by Rosie Milsom, Self-Worth & Success Coach and host of the Self-Worth School podcast, for a conversation about self-worth, self-trust, and why so many women have learned to trust outside opinions more than their own voice. Rosie shares how her own journey through infertility, IVF, personal development, and eventually coaching led her to recognize something she kept seeing again and again. Underneath so many of the things keeping women stuck was the belief that they weren’t good enough. And that belief doesn’t always look obvious. Sometimes it looks like asking everyone else what they think before you make a decision. Sometimes it looks like overthinking something you already know. Sometimes it looks like waiting for certainty before you move. Sometimes it even looks like using AI, coaches, friends, or family to make a decision that deep down, you already know how to make. We talk about why self-trust isn’t about always getting it right. It’s knowing that even if you make the wrong decision, you can handle what happens next. Rosie also shares why every time you ignore your intuition and look outside yourself for confirmation, you reinforce the belief that your own voice can’t be trusted. That’s where the loop begins. And breaking it starts with choosing yourself again. In this episode, we talk about: Why so many women struggle with feeling good enough How childhood experiences and social conditioning shape self-worth Why knowing what you want isn’t the same as trusting yourself enough to act on it The ways women unknowingly outsource their decisions How overthinking can become an attempt to create certainty Why certainty isn’t required before taking action The connection between self-worth and self-trust How ignoring your intuition weakens your trust in yourself Why following through builds confidence Using mistakes as information instead of evidence against yourself How optimism can be learned and strengthened What it really means to become an Unblocked Woman A line to sit with:“Self-trust is a choice. It’s a choice that you have to make over and over again.” Every time you follow through, keep your word to yourself, or choose your own voice over someone else’s opinion, you’re building your self-trust. One decision at a time. About Rosie Milsom Rosie Milsom is a Self-Worth & Success Coach and host of the Self-Worth School podcast. She helps purpose-led women stop second-guessing themselves, trust their own voice, and take the actions that move their lives and businesses forward. Combining neuroscience, psychology, and practical coaching, Rosie is passionate about helping women bridge the gap between knowing what to do and having the self-worth to actually do it. 169: Why You Can't See Your Own Pattern (and what actually let's you)
2026/08/25
You know that moment when you finally come out of a spiral and think, What the hell was I doing? You can see it afterward. The overthinking. The people pleasing. The controlling. The text you rewrote five times. The yes you gave when you wanted to say no. The decision you almost changed because one uncomfortable moment made you question everything. But while you were in it? It felt completely reasonable. That’s the conversation in this episode. I’m talking about the patterns that are hardest to change because they don’t actually feel like patterns when they’re happening. They feel like logic. They feel like instinct. Sometimes they even sound like wisdom. I just need more information. I don’t want to disappoint anyone. I’m being realistic. I know how this needs to be done. Look... sometimes those things are true. And sometimes your old pattern has simply gotten really good at making its case. In This Episode, I Talk About: Why your patterns can feel completely reasonable while they’re running you How old patterns can disguise themselves as logic, instinct, or wisdom Why smart, self-aware women can still miss what’s happening in real time The clues that help you spot a pattern faster Why repeated situations matter, even when the people or circumstances change What defensiveness can reveal about what you’re protecting Why some patterns once made sense for your survival, belonging, or approval How curiosity helps you see what shame never will Why catching a pattern sooner is still real growth How The Mirror helps reflect back what you can’t always see on your own The goal isn’t to become a woman who never gets triggered, never overthinks, or never falls into an old response again. The goal is to recognize what’s happening sooner. To catch yourself before the pattern gets to make the next decision for you. Pay attention to the reaction that feels way bigger than the moment. Notice the situations that keep changing characters but somehow end with the same result. Listen for the behavior you immediately need to defend. Look at what keeps costing you peace, time, money, energy, relationships, or trust in yourself. That’s where the pattern usually leaves clues. And instead of immediately asking, Why am I like this? Try asking: What is this trying to do for me? That question changes the entire conversation. Some of the things you’re frustrated with today once helped you belong, stay safe, avoid disappointment, earn approval, or protect yourself. You don’t need to excuse the pattern. You need to see it clearly enough to choose something different. And if you’re catching it faster than you used to, don’t dismiss that. Three weeks becoming three days matters. Six months becoming six days matters. Typing the reactive text and deleting it matters. That is how identity changes. Not through one giant breakthrough. Through the moment you realize, Oh. I know what this is. And choose differently. A Few Questions to Sit With: What keeps happening? What do I make it mean? What do I automatically do next? What is that response costing me? What might I be trying to protect myself from? You don’t need the perfect answer. You need enough awareness to create a choice. Go Deeper If you keep thinking, I know I have patterns, but I genuinely can’t see mine, this is exactly why I created The Mirror. Bring it the real situation. The argument. The money spiral. The boundary you keep avoiding. The thing you keep doing even though you swear you won’t do it again. Sometimes what looks like five separate problems is one pattern wearing five different outfits. 168: Who Are You — And Who Did You Learn to Become
2026/08/18
There’s a big difference between knowing your pattern and actually changing it. In this episode, I’m pulling back the curtain on why I created The Mirror™, but more importantly, I’m talking about the deeper question underneath it all: Why do we keep repeating behaviors we already know aren’t serving us? Most women don’t have an information problem. We know when we’re overthinking. We know when we’re people pleasing. We know when we’re procrastinating, abandoning a decision, or doing the exact thing we promised ourselves we wouldn’t do again. Knowing isn’t always enough. There’s usually a pattern underneath the behavior. Until you understand what’s driving that pattern, changing the circumstances won’t necessarily change the result. A new offer can carry the same self-doubt. A new relationship can activate the same fear. A new goal can bring the same old reaction. Your circumstances can change completely while your patterns stay exactly the same. I also share why I use the Enneagram, Human Design, and identity work together. Not to give you another label to live inside, but to create more context around the way you think, react, make decisions, protect yourself, and move through the world. Because one of the most powerful questions we can ask is: What is actually me, and what did I learn to become? The responsible one. The successful one. The easy one. The strong one. The woman who never needs anything. The woman who fixes everything. At some point, those identities can stop feeling like who you are and start feeling like armor. Growth isn’t always about becoming someone new. Sometimes it’s about separating who you are from who you learned you had to be. In this episode, I talk about: Why awareness alone doesn’t automatically change a pattern The difference between behavior and the motivation underneath it How the default identity loop reinforces what you already believe about yourself Why uncertainty can trigger self-distrust How the Enneagram helps uncover the strategy behind your behavior How Human Design gives another lens into the way you naturally operate The identities women adopt for love, approval, safety, and success Why self-awareness should create more freedom, not another box How to catch a pattern while it’s actually happening What real growth looks like when triggers and old reactions still show up How awareness, alignment, and abundance work together Why I created The Mirror™ as a real-time tool for deeper self-trust A question to sit with: Is this response aligned with who I’m becoming, or is it familiar because of who I’ve been? You don’t need to judge the pattern. You need to see it early enough to choose. The Mirror™ was built to help you see what’s happening underneath the surface while you’re actually in it. Bring the decision you’re overthinking. The conversation you’re avoiding. The reaction that feels bigger than the circumstance. The pattern you’re ready to understand differently. Your first 3 sessions are completely free. If you don’t know your Enneagram or Human Design, you can also take both quizzes for free inside The Mirror. 167: The Shortcut To Happiness
2026/08/11
What if feeling better isn’t always about doing more for yourself? In this episode, I talk about something we often overlook in a culture that constantly tells us to work on ourselves, optimize ourselves, and keep becoming more. Sometimes, the shift we need comes from looking outward. I talk about the connection between joy, service, and real human presence. I also share why being connected online is not always the same as feeling truly connected in your life. I reflect on the small ways we can show up for the people around us. A visit. A thoughtful gesture. A phone call. A few intentional minutes with someone who matters. I also share a personal story from my life that changed the way I think about service. That experience reminded me that helping someone else does not always deplete us. Sometimes, it fills us in ways we did not expect. I take you behind the scenes of a very full day in my own life too. Instead of pushing meaningful gestures to the bottom of my list, I made space for them earlier. What happened surprised me. My schedule did not fall apart. I felt lighter. More connected. More present. This episode is not about adding another responsibility to your life. It is about remembering what makes life feel meaningful in the first place. What You’ll Hear Why more self-focus does not always create more happiness How meaningful connection can shift the way you feel Why real presence matters in a digitally connected world What service can look like without over giving A personal story that shaped the way I see connection Why small acts often matter more than grand gestures What happened when I prioritized people inside an already full day How to create more connection without making your life more complicated Sometimes, the thing that brings you back to yourself is the way you show up for someone else. 166: Confidence Is Built Through Action, Not Before It with Tricia Conyers
2026/08/04
What if confidence is not something you need before you begin? What if confidence is something you build because you began? In this episode of The Unblocked Woman Podcast, I sit down with coach, facilitator, leadership development expert, and author Tricia Conyers for an honest conversation about confidence, courageous action, and the ways women unknowingly keep themselves waiting. Tricia spent more than two decades working in leadership development and organizational change, including ten years as Vice President of Learning and Development for a boutique consulting firm in Houston. From the outside, her career looked established and secure. Inside, one question kept following her. Is this it? Leaving meant walking away from familiar systems, a steady paycheck, and people who felt like family. It also meant stepping into entrepreneurship without knowing exactly how the journey would unfold. That decision reinforced one of the most important principles behind her work. Confidence does not arrive before the action. Confidence is built through the action. During our conversation, we explore how preparation can sometimes become a polished form of waiting. One more certification. More planning. More time. More proof. Confidence begins to grow when you stop expecting doubt to disappear and start taking small, deliberate actions while it is still present. Tricia also shares her Brilliant, Brave, and Bold framework. Your brilliant self is grounded in your values, strengths, instincts, and inner truth. Your brave self is willing to stretch beyond what feels familiar. Your bold self allows you to be seen, own your perspective, and communicate your ideas with clarity. Your first attempt may be messy. That does not make it meaningless. Every courageous action gives you new evidence of what you are capable of becoming. What You'll Hear: Why women mistake preparation for progress How overplanning and credentials can become avoidance Why confidence develops after action Tricia’s Brilliant, Brave, and Bold framework Why bravery does not need to look big How small actions create evidence of your capability Why visibility is part of becoming bold How one small action can change your life You do not need to have everything figured out. You do not need another credential before you begin. You do not need your doubt to disappear. You need one small action. Confidence does not arrive before the action. It is built because you took it. 165: Find Your Room
2026/07/28
What if the reason your growth is not sticking has nothing to do with discipline? What if the real issue is the room? In this episode, I talk about one of the most overlooked parts of personal growth. Your environment is shaping your identity every single day. The people around you are not just witnessing who you are. They are reinforcing who you are through their reactions, conversations, standards, expectations, and unspoken rules. That is why you can spend an hour journaling, affirming, meditating, and doing the inner work, then step back into a room that pulls you toward the version of yourself you are trying to leave behind. Because one hour of expansion cannot outpace sixteen hours of contraction. This is not a willpower problem. It is an environment problem. We talk about the friendships, group chats, family dynamics, online spaces, and work environments that quietly shape what feels normal for you. We also unpack the question that reveals whether a room is calling you forward or keeping you connected to an identity you have already outgrown. If you have been doing the work but still feel like something is not changing, this episode may help you see the missing piece. Sometimes, you do not need more strategy. You need a different room. What You'll Hear Why affirmations and inner work are not always enoughHow your environment can undo your growth in real timeWhy identity is contagiousHow your nervous system calibrates to the people around youWhy you feel expansive in some rooms and smaller in othersThe unspoken rules inside friendships, families, workplaces, and communitiesHow to recognize when a room supports your growthThe five areas of your environment that need an honest auditWhy your group chats reveal more than you realizeHow family roles can follow you into your business and relationshipsWhy your online environment is constantly shaping your identityHow your work environment affects your standards, confidence, and beliefsThe one question that reveals the truth about every relationshipWhy history does not always mean alignmentWhat the right room actually does to your nervous systemHow the right environment rewires what feels normalWhy growth becomes easier when you stop doing it alone One Line To Sit With “You don’t rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your environment.” Your Invitation This Week Write down the names of the five to seven people you spend the most time with. Then ask yourself: Who do I become around them? Not who do I like around them. Not who have I known the longest. Not who feels familiar. Who do I become? Do I feel more confident? More honest? More expansive? More self-led? Or do I become smaller? Quieter? More doubtful? More connected to a version of myself I have already outgrown? Do not use the answer to judge the relationship. Use it as data. Pay attention to the rooms that reinforce who you used to be. Choose more of the rooms that call forward the woman you are becoming. Clip-Worthy Moments “You can’t outgrow a room you’re still spending all your time in.” “You don’t rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your environment.” “Identity is contagious. You catch it from the people you spend time with, whether you want to or not.” “Every room has unspoken rules.” “Show me your group chats and I’ll show you your nervous system.” “Inspiration is cheap. Anyone with a Canva account can inspire you.” “Find women who don’t get weird when you grow.” “The right room reflects the woman you’re becoming, not the woman you’re trying to leave behind.” “The right room does not just inspire you. It rewires what feels normal.” Mentioned In This Episode The Unblocked Women Collective The Mirror™ The Unblocked Method™ Save this episode for the next time you start questioning why the work is not sticking. Then send it to the woman who has been doing all the inner work but still feels like something is missing. It might be the room.
164: Do The Damn Thing
2026/07/21
What if the thing draining your energy isn't your schedule? What if it's all the little things you've been meaning to do? In this episode, I unpack one of the biggest myths about procrastination. We often believe we avoid tasks because we're lazy or unmotivated. But that's not what's actually happening. More often, our brain decides something is bigger, harder, or more exhausting than it really is, and we spend days, weeks, or even years living inside that story. The surprising part? It's usually not the task that's costing us. It's carrying the unfinished task. I share a simple mindset shift that completely changed how I look at procrastination, along with a personal story about a garage fridge that quietly stole little pieces of my peace for an entire year before I finally spent twenty minutes fixing it. Because sometimes the smallest unfinished things are the ones taking up the biggest space in your mind. If you've been feeling mentally cluttered, constantly saying "I'll get to it later," or wondering why you feel more exhausted than your workload should justify, this episode will help you understand why. More importantly, it'll help you finally let some of that weight go. What You'll Hear Why procrastination isn't a character flaw The surprising reason your brain makes small tasks feel overwhelming How unfinished tasks quietly drain your mental energy every day What "open loops" are and why they stay loud in your mind The hidden cost of constantly putting things off The simple 20-Minute Rule that helps you reclaim your energy Why the story you tell yourself about a task matters more than the task itself The lesson one messy garage fridge taught me about freedom, peace, and momentum Memorable Quotes "We don't procrastinate because we're lazy." "You're not avoiding the task. You're avoiding the story you made up about the task." "An undone thing doesn't just sit there quietly. It hums in the background of your mind all day, every day." "We don't procrastinate on the time it takes. We procrastinate on the time we imagine it'll take." "The task was never the problem. The story about the task was the problem." Your Challenge This Week Make a list of all the little things you've been putting off. Not your big goals. Not your five-year vision. Just the small tasks that quietly follow you around every day. Next to each one, estimate how long you think it will take. Then pick one. Set a timer. Give it twenty minutes. You might discover that what has been costing you weeks of mental energy only needed a few minutes of your attention. 🎙️ Subscribe to The Unblocked Woman Podcast wherever you listen to podcasts so you never miss a new episode. 🤍 If this episode encouraged you, share it with a friend who's been saying, "I'll get to it later."
163: When Grief Finds You: What Nobody Tells You About Healing and Why You Can't Rush It
2026/07/14
This week's episode comes from a deeply personal place. A loss in our community this week brought grief back to the surface in a way I wasn't expecting. It reminded me of losing my sister to suicide when I was ten years old, a loss that happened 36 years ago but still quietly visits me every June. At the same time, families across Utah are watching wildfires destroy homes filled with decades of memories, proving that grief rarely arrives in just one form. In this episode, I share why grief isn't something we fix or move past. It's something we learn to carry. I walk through the framework that has helped me understand grief more than anything else. The Grief Funnel. At first, grief fills every part of your life. Over time, it doesn't disappear. It becomes integrated. The goal was never to empty the funnel. The goal is to slowly build a life that can hold it. We also talk about why grief rewires your brain, why you can't rush healing, what the stages of grief actually look like in real life, and how to truly show up for someone who's hurting when there are no perfect words. Whether you're grieving the loss of someone you love, the end of a relationship, a dream that didn't happen, or simply walking beside someone who is carrying unimaginable pain, I hope this episode reminds you that you don't have to navigate it alone. What You'll Hear Why grief doesn't disappear, even decades later. The personal story that inspired this episode. How the Grief Funnel explains what healing actually looks like. Why healing doesn't mean forgetting. How grief literally changes your brain and nervous system. Why the five stages of grief aren't a checklist. The difference between moving through grief and trying to outrun it.Why acceptance doesn't mean you're okay with what happened. How to support someone who is grieving without trying to fix them. Why comparing grief only creates more pain. The surprising ways grief reshapes how we love, live, and see the world. Key Takeaways Healing doesn't mean forgetting. Grief isn't a problem to solve. It's a process to honor. The goal isn't to stop feeling grief. The goal is to learn how to carry it. Time doesn't erase loss. It gives your nervous system the space to build a new map of life around it. The people and places we lose never truly disappear. They become part of how we love and who we become. 🪞 The Mirror™ If you've been carrying patterns that feel impossible to explain or break, The Mirror helps uncover what's happening beneath the surface in just minutes. 🤍 The Unblocked Women's Collective You don't have to navigate life's hardest seasons alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to someone you trust or contact a local crisis resource in your area. You do not have to carry it alone.
162: The Signal You Keep Ignoring
2026/07/07
How many times have you looked back at a decision and thought, "I knew it from the beginning"? Not because you didn't know what to do. Because you overrode the part of you that already did. In this episode, I unpack one of the most quietly expensive patterns I see in high-achieving women. The habit of outsourcing your own knowing. Looking for more proof. Asking for one more opinion. Talking yourself out of the signal that was there from the very beginning. We explore why self-trust isn't about confidence or certainty. It's about learning to honor yourself even when doubt is present. Because every time you override your own knowing, you're not just delaying a decision. You're weakening the relationship you have with yourself. If you've ever found yourself saying, "I knew it," after it was too late, this episode will help you understand why that pattern exists and how to finally begin changing it. What You'll Hear Why self-trust is not actually a confidence problemThe difference between self-trust and self-certaintyWhat the "override loop" is and how it quietly disconnects you from yourselfWhy you keep looking for more proof when you already know the answerHow childhood experiences teach us to stop trusting our own voiceWhy honesty builds self-trust more than getting the decision rightThe personal story that changed my relationship with trusting myself foreverThe simple three-step practice for rebuilding self-trust one decision at a timeWhy women who trust themselves naturally become magnetic One Line to Sit With "Self-trust is not the absence of doubt." Think about one decision you've been sitting on. Not the one everyone else has an opinion about. The one where, deep down, you already know. Notice where you feel it in your body. Ask yourself one simple question: What does this signal need from me right now? Then honor it. Even if it's one small step. Because every time you choose your own knowing over the override loop, you strengthen the relationship you have with yourself. Clip-Worthy Moments "When was the last time you listened to yourself and actually acted on it?" "It's not a confidence problem. It's a pattern problem." "Self-trust is not the absence of doubt." "You do know what's best for you." "You cannot shift what you can't see. But once you see it, you absolutely can shift it." "The pattern protected you. And now it's the very thing that's keeping you from the life that you say you want." "It costs you more than the wrong decision. It costs you the relationship with yourself." "Honesty is the foundation. Not accuracy." "When you're not at war with yourself anymore, you're magnetic." "You're not broken for struggling to trust yourself. It's a pattern. And patterns can shift." Want To Go Deeper? If this episode helped you recognize your own override loop, imagine what becomes possible when you can see the patterns beneath every decision you make. That's exactly why I created The Mirror™. It's an AI-powered self-discovery experience built on The Unblocked Method™ that helps you uncover the hidden patterns shaping your thoughts, behaviors, and decisions so you can stop repeating them and start trusting yourself again.
