In this honest and transformative conversation, Gena sits down with her life coach and mentor, Susan, to share the

Episode 2: Meet Your Host - My Healing, My Becoming, My Why....
2026/02/21
This Episode is sponsored by ElikaMaria.com
This relaunch episode opens the door to my story — the woman behind the mic, the journey that shaped me, and the healing that transformed me into a trauma‑conscious life coach. It’s an invitation into the truth of where H.E.R. began: not from perfection, but from lived experience, survival, and the decision to rise.
My Healing Journey
I share the parts of my story that matter most to the work I do today — the seasons of unraveling, rebuilding, and reclaiming myself after trauma. This episode explores how I learned to understand my nervous system, my patterns, my boundaries, and my worth. It’s a conversation about the moments that broke me open, the tools that helped me rebuild, and the deep belief that healing is possible for every woman, even when the path feels impossible.
Becoming a Trauma‑Conscious Life Coach
My coaching didn’t come from textbooks alone — it came from lived experience, from navigating systems, relationships, and seasons that demanded resilience. I talk about how trauma‑conscious work is different: it honors the body, the brain, the survival strategies, and the truth that healing isn’t linear. It’s compassionate, grounded, and rooted in safety. This episode explains why I chose this path and how it shapes every conversation I hold on this podcast.
The Vision for H.E.R. — Heal • Empower • Rise
H.E.R. is more than a podcast. It’s a space for women to feel seen, supported, and strengthened. In this episode, I share the heart of the relaunch: creating a community where healing is normalized, empowerment is accessible, and rising is a collective experience. I talk about the conversations we’ll have, the stories we’ll share, and the intention behind every episode — truth, safety, and transformation.
Introducing the H.E.R. Vault
This season launches a new series called H.E.R. Vault — a collection of real, tangible tools for becoming the woman you’ve always wanted to be. These episodes will offer practical guidance you can use immediately: emotional regulation tools, boundary‑setting scripts, self‑trust practices, nervous system support, relationship clarity, and identity‑rebuilding exercises. The Vault is where healing meets action, where empowerment becomes embodied, and where rising becomes a daily practice.
H.E.R. Relaunch Trailer

To learn more about or connect with Shelley Wells:
Shelley Wells is the Owner and Licensed Esthetician at SAP Skin Care & Makeup Artistry. She has been an Esthetician for over 5 years and started her own business shortly after she received her license. Though she loves all things aesthetics, her passion lies in skin care. She was a waitress for about 15 years and wanted to start a career and make a change. An opportunity presented itself for a receptionist position at Pure Makeup in Eureka. Shelley quickly fell In love with everything an Esthetician does, especially makeup and skin care. She had to work 3 part time jobs to get through school and pay rent and take care of her daughter but she was driven and desperately wanted this. She passed her exams and received her license in 2016 and soon after started her own business in a small room in the back of Siana Spa in Arcata. It was tough being on her own.
She had just opened a new location in Arcata when Covid hit and she had to close. She had been dreaming of creating her own skin care line and had an amazing formulator that she was working with and using her plant based formulas in her facials and on her own skin with amazing results. It is super important to Shelley that she promotes natural plant based products because so few of them out there are as natural as they advertise.
She loves natural plant-based ingredients and products. She wanted to create something that would spark a self care ritual that anyone can easily do at home while at the same time making sure it is safe and potent.
A fun fact is that Shelley rides a motorcycle and joined an all women’s riding group called The Litas. In the rare free time she has, she loves to take a bath, do tarot, and read a good book. She is currently reading The Mists of Avalon.
