Robert's oldest daughter joins him on the podcast.  Currently in the middle of applying for scholarships to help with college next year, Audrey O'Donnell talks about what she loves about her current and previous teachers, as well as why she loves reading and to edit writing.  It is a great look into the mind of a student who has genuinely always loved to learn in school.

Author, keynote speaker, motivational guru, and downright funny guy Hal Bowman enters the podcast.  He shares his beliefs about schools and why boys struggle in the system, why relationships and engagement matter so much, and what he would tell all governors and politicians to change in our profession if they asked him.  Have some laughs and enjoy the convo!

Now a Superintendent in South Dakota, Don DeBoer was happy to spend some time on the podcast while the temperatures outside of his home hit -11 and -27 with the wind chill.  He started out in Las Vegas 25 years ago on the same day as Robert at the same school, but then took a different path to the top.  The two reminisce about the past, talk about leadership, and agree that relationships matter more than anything.  

Robert's wife enters the podcast for a very interesting back and forth about all types of topics.  They discuss the great things about middle school compared to elementary, the history of teaching history, and whether or not she would like to work for a principal like him at a school like his.  It is a fascinating conversation that evolves into a power struggle to see who is right by the end of the 50 minutes.  Enjoy!

Happy 2024!  A quick five minute message regarding some things to reflect upon, as well as my educational resolutions for the upcoming year.  What area do you wish to improve upon in the upcoming year?

Kindergarten Chaos returns!  Abbie Peterson, the original cohost of the podcast, makes her return to talk about her adventures since her last conversation.  She discusses her time in other schools across the country and what she sees as important items for teachers these days.  The future  of education also comes up in this enlightening conversation.

A blast from the past!  Mrs. Sarah Dlouhy spends an hour with Robert this week discussing education and all that comes with being a teacher.  She reminisces on her time being in the classroom and talks about how leaving the profession helped her personally grow and heal.  Sharing her insights about the profession from her new position within the "Get Your Teach On" organization and comparing it to being in a school, Sarah tells her story of being a part of that world while balancing it with being a mom and wife, and how she hopes to make an impact on today's kids and educators nationwide.

Co-author of "Building Dynamic Teamwork in Schools" with Robert (which is now available on Amazon), educational guru and motivational speaker Dr. Brad Johnson enters the podcast  to discuss leadership within schools.  His vast knowledge of how to put teachers first and lead people in a positive manner through inter-relational skills is critical to getting the best out of the people in the building.  The author of 15+ books takes the time to share his insight into various topics and provides a reminder that education is always about relationships.

Angie and Shawna are back in the arena!  The ladies join me to discuss an idea that we are using at Thompson ES this year and how the discussions are enhancing teaching and learning outcomes.  It is a fabulous conversation, and gives the listener an example of the topics and conversations we have daily while working to be the best team and school possible.

This week's guest is Jen Ballejos, a Kindergarten teacher in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Not only does she discuss teaching in her grade level, but she has taken a unique journey with her son which she shares, and she provides information on a positive change that everyone can make for their family, yet so many do not know about it.  Her son's journey is a cautionary tale, but one that we can all learn from, and gives hope that if the right people hear about it, perhaps we can make some huge changes in education that can have positive effects for all students.

Starting in 1999 with Robert, Dan Hungerford has worked his way up the ranks and continues to lead Givens ES in Las Vegas.  He is passionate about Nevada and will advocate for the city and state any chance he gets.  He is also passionate about his school, partnerships that he has created, and the hope that things can change as the time in his career dwindles down.  It is a great conversation from two administrators in Clark County who started at the same school on the same day over 24 years ago.
