I now have an Advice Show!
2025/12/10
Hi Folks,
Long time no chat! I now have a radio show (that is also a podcast).
I live on Cortes Island, BC, and I've got a live radio show. It's called Dear Lindsay, and it's an auditory advice column where listeners write in anonymously with their personal dilemmas and I respond with my best, sometime cheeky, advice.
You can listen to the Podcast version by searching "Dear Lindsay" on your podcast player.
I hope you come check it out!
Radio is CKTZ 89.5FM if you're in the area. Or live at CKTZ.ca Wednesdays at 9am and Sundays at 5pm.
#62 Update and Question
2022/11/25
It’s been awhile! And in this very short episode I admit that I’m not sure where to go with this podcast. I give you a bit of a life update and ask for your ideas of future topics.
#61 Graceful Transitions: how to go through life changes with more ease
2022/10/25
I’ve been going through several big life changes these last few months. In this week’s dose of Magic for Realists I talk about them and what I’ve been doing to make the transitions more easeful. I talk about the importance of ceremony, being witnessed, and being present for the process. I hope this is helpful.
#60 Lessons from my Bus: what Im learning as I build, both poetic and practical
2022/09/27
I’m transforming a short school bus into my own tiny home. I’m learning a lot along the way. This episode is a mixture of practical things (like what are self-tapping screws) and poetic things (like bringing a symbolic door knob from the ashes of a precious home) I’m learning. It’s my first recording from inside my bus!! Follow along: @magicforrealists
#59 Ten tips for Men in Online Dating (helpful even if you’re not a man, or you’re not online dating
2022/08/30
Ok, hold on….this one is a good time. 😝 It’s honest, maybe ruthless, probably funny and hopefully helpful. It’s my rant/opinion/wisdom about what to avoid in making an online dating profile, at least if you want me to give you a second thought ;) And of course, some deeper relational philosophy mixed in. Even if you’re not a man, or you’re not trying online dating, I think you’ll still enjoy this one.
#58 I Bought a Bus: the start of my practical magical home on wheels!
2022/08/10
It’s been a while! I’ve been summer busy, and also….I bought a bus!! In this week’s dose of Magic for Realists I tell the story of my decision and the mystical unfolding of this project to build myself a tiny home on wheels. If you’d like to practically help me with making this home please check out my page: https://gofund.me/61959ce0
#57 Truth is Sexy: how learning to feel and speak what’s true helps relationships
2022/07/06
In this week’s dose of Magic for Realists I talk about what I’m learning about telling the truth in small details and big choices. I read from the book “Ensouling Language” by Stephen Harrod Buchner which has influenced and helped me deeply as a writer and designer of my own life. I talk about how developing the skill of discerning what is coherent/accurate and trusting when we feel something is amiss creates the possibility for creative connections. I hope you find this helpful.

#56 Introducing Tarot: an explanation and example of how I play with the Tarot deck I created
2022/06/22
In this week’s Solstice dose of Magic for Realists I introduce the Tarot deck I designed, created and have for sale. I explain my philosophy behind playing with Tarot, and I do a live reading to give a little sample of how I work with it and what the guidebook I made sounds like. This episode will make more sense with visual accompaniment which you can find on Instagram @magicforrealists or on my website: magicforrealists.ca
#55 Long Game: the beauty of un-rushed relationships (with people and projects)
2022/05/24
In this week’s dose of Magic for Realists I explore how some of my relationships, with creativity and people, have long story archs. Lately I’ve been noticing and appreciating the length of some of my stories and how the beauty Im evolves over time. I tell of a recent experience with encountering a legacy of an art project from 7yrs ago. I talk about how slowing down is countercultural and beneficial. I ponder the question: would we act differently if we knew this (lover, project, job, home) was going to be around for a long time?
I hope you find this helpful.

#54 Status Update: a helpful tool for authentic connecting (includes an original song 🎵)
2022/05/11
In this week’s dose of Magic for Realists I share with you how this concept of a “status update” is present and helpful for me. Like on a road trip, even if we don’t know where we’re going, or have a tidy solution, updating each other on current feelings, needs and desires, enables honest connection and innovative solutions. I give various examples of how I’ve employed this in my life. I muse about attuned honesty, instead of unbounded, and the illusion of things staying the same. At the end, I’m delighted to share with you an original song I wrote and Matt Epp recorded. It’s thematic and loving and goofy and it’s called “Road Trip”. I hope you enjoy it 🎶 You can find Matt @matteppmusic and me @magicforrealists or magicforrealists.ca
#53 Magic Capes: what they are, how they work and how I make them.
2022/04/26
If you haven’t already heard; I make Magic Capes! In this week’s dose of Magic for Realists I explain what they are and how they work. In brief, Magic Capes work by playing to our human penchant for meaning making and materiality. I tell about the origins of this passion of mine and it’s evolution over more than a decade. I unpack my current process on how a Cape gets conjured and created. This is an exploration into meaning, art, mindful process, unconventional economics and wearable love. Magic Capes are playful, powerful, and for all ages. I hope after listening you have someone in mind (or yourself!) that I can make one for. #52 April: a dispatch from the middle.
2022/04/13
It’s variable weather over here, inside and out. This episode is a simple one, an undefined one, and dispatch from the middle of undefined (private?) process. I wanted to touch base with you but I don’t have a tidy package to deliver. I do have a request though, and a hint of what’s to come. Listen up!
#51 Entry Points to Understanding Polyamory: theory & anecdotes around expansive nature of love
2022/03/29
*This is not a case for or against polyamory, but a discussion of ways to approach understanding it as a concept.* Have you ever wondered how it was even ethical or possible to pull of simultaneous intimate relationships? I lived for years experimenting with versions of this. I’m now happily several years into trying monogamy.
However, I still believe that polyamory is an important addition to our cultural relational landscape and a beautiful (difficult!) venture. In this episode I give you (perhaps unexpected) examples of how you may have already encountered something close to polyamory. I discuss what purposes marriage has historically served, how these are changing, and how that is affecting how we approach partnership. I weave my own beliefs around the nature of love with anecdotes of my own experiences. I teach you a new word; compersion. If you’ve judged open relationships as wrong, or wondered how people cope with jealously, I hope you listen to this all the way through. @magicforrealists. #50 Proximity and Pacing: two helpful variables in relationships
2022/03/11
This week’s dose of Magic for Realists is a continuation of this series talking about relationships. This week I talk about how the physical closeness and the speed and amount of time we spend with someone affects the dynamic of the relationship. And, good news, these two variables, of proximity and pacing are just that: variable! Realizing these are adjustable has been very helpful to me in navigating all sorts of connections. I explain what I mean by these terms and give examples of how adjusting them has improved my relationships. I hope you find this helpful.

#49 What I Learned Through Open Relationships
2022/03/01
This week, continuing the “Love and Relationship” series, I expand on (some) of what I learned from years of being in open relationships. I explain how I define them and “polyamory”. This topic is dear to my heart, and some of my most beautiful, loving and challenging experiences of my life have come through this exploration.
I don’t profess to have a formula for the “best relationship structure”, but I do feel that some of the tenants I learned through open relating are invaluable to any healthy connection. I also believe that our current societal relationship norms are in desperate need of an overhaul, and that the discussion around open relationships is an important part of re-considering what a healthy relationship means.
I answer your questions of how I began being in an open relationship and my advice to those considering transitioning that direction. I hope you enjoy listening to my perspective as someone who’s explored all sorts of permutations of intimacy. I’d love to hear your reflections and further questions. @magicforrealists magicforrealists.ca
