To quote Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons “Oh what a night.” After having such a fantastic time playing DiscoBee/DiscoTech back in ANZAC weekend I was super stoked and totally honoured to be asked to play the GAAAATEZOOONE at Winter Solstice Ōtepoti || Dunedin 2025. Apparently in previous years GAAAATEZOOONE was a smallish renegade kind of vibe in a small gazebo but this year they upgraded it to a massive stage roughly the size of a horse float and a much boosted soundsystem and it was sooo much fun. The crowd was amazing, friendly, upbeat and up for a good time and I was super stoked to be able to help them with that. Mad props to Jack, Albany & Robyn, ShowerCap, Vanessa, Matt Hatt, Jimmy, Hanna, Anna, Chris Boyd, Ruby, Miro, everyone who came up to me over the night who said “hi” and all the rest of the party peeps that I may have forgotten. On the Friday night of the April 2025 edition of DiscoTech a.k.a. DiscoBee I had the honour of playing the 9 PM set. The crowd at the festival was super lovely, chill and friendly; and despite not being a home crowd I received many kind words about my tunes. My good friend Kerry asked if I could play her birthday party. Fresh off a banger of a gig at Obie's I thought "hells yeah!". The brief was upbeat party vibes so I played the likes of Justice, Bowie, Gameboy/Gamegirl, Haiku Hands, Soulwax, Uffie, Duck Sauce, The Rapture as well as one of my own towards the end. Last Saturday I had the honour of playing tunes at my very old friend Obie's 40th birthday party. We've known each other since youth group days in the mid-90s and in fact I started DJing youth group discos a couple years after that. We're both quite different people in many ways these days but we still know how to party 🫠 Little did I know it but James Curd was headlining! This makes it the second time that I've played support for him, what a night!! This set features the latest from Terr, a funky wee number from DMX Krew, a Bowie remix, Kyle Watson smashing a kick drum, an Armand Van Helden remix of Uffie, a classic from Phoenix as well as one of my very own tunes, Disco Brutus (F.L.O.).
