October Allies! Plus FREE Writing Workshop begins in 2 hours!
2026/10/09
Before I begin the rest of this newsletter, I want to remind you that our free writing workshop with special guest Derek Zboran (founder of Rolla Writers Club, Tedx speaker, and author of four books) is TONIGHT (October 9th) at 7:00 central time. This workshop is free and this is the Zoom link to join in! We are on the threshold of Samhain, honoring endings and welcoming mystery. Standing in the doorway, we make our commitment and allow our own lives to charm and delight us. We pause here, honoring what was and welcoming what will be. We thank our bones for carrying us. We turn in wide circles beneath the waning moon, letting our gratitude fly free to bless the darkening night. Happy October and welcome to this week’s Rituals of Returning newsletter! This issue explores our allies for the month. We’ve also updated the shop with our extra special Samhain ritual kits! This week's magic: 20 minute video: October Allies (note: this video goes live tomorrow!) Companion handouts are right here for you: Rituals Of Returning Companion Card Set 1.85MB ∙ PDF file Download Download A Book of Magic Days is available for pre-order on Kindle! The print edition will also become available by December 1 (hopefully earlier!). I’m also so excited to announce that I’ve opened submissions for our first anthology: Simple and Sacred, the book! I’m also pleased to have my essay, Earth’s Mystery School, and a poem (Table Rock Lake) in the newly released Missouri Writers’ Guild anthology, celebrating 100 years. And, I also have four poems in the forthcoming Underworld Guide and Holy Hag Hecate anthology from Girl God Books. Pre-orders are open for it now as well. And, wait, one more as well! I was honored to contribute to a new anthology from Pantheon Press called "In the Deep," poems of resilience and grief. The book was released in print this week! This is How We Pray In a recent Live community practice, I shared a quote from Mary Oliver: “So this is how you swim inward. So this is how you flow outwards. So this is how you pray.” It felt like a perfect encapsulation for what we do together in circle and in our lives. There is a rhythm to a well-nourished life: a movement inward and a movement outward. Time alone and time in community. Reflection and expression. Receiving and offering. If we swim inward but never flow outward, we can become stagnant, over-contained, cut off from the life that wants to move through us. If we flow outward without ever swimming inward, we grow depleted, brittle, burned out by constant giving and doing. So in circle we practice both: Swimming inward, (breath, body, journaling, contemplating, noticing our own inner landscape), flowing outward (blessing one another, sharing stories, creating, writing, making things with our hands). This, too, is prayer: not only words, but in the ways we show up for our own lives and for each other. (photo is from GGG last month) Announcements: October Enchantment Throughout this month, I’m offering a simple and sacred class called October Enchantment, designed to help you settle and soften into the enchantment of the season as well as to explore Baba Yaga and to deepen into our allies for the month. This class is included at the $10 tier and above! Too Much Woman anthology Available for pre-order, I’m also delighted to be a contributor to the third Womancraft Publishing anthology, Too Much Woman. Really excited about this one! Resource Reminders: May we continueto practice fierce self-care.May we honor and trustour own boundaries.May we listen to our sacred yesand holy no. Our popular Back to the Root free series is still available: Make sure to check out the collection where all of the free posts are available. And, you can still grab your welcome kit with beautiful journals and customizable covers. Intro audio about the Goddess Magic Mystery School I’ve started to add our monthly activation replay videos for this year’s #30DaysofGoddess practice to the homepage! Scroll past the “2026 Practice Updates” section to access the videos. Note: Live monthly activations are available to any member of the Goddess Magic Mystery School Patreon community free and paid both! FREE class: forty week Intro to Goddess Studies class! Gift a Goddess Magic membership to a friend! Life’s Bits and Pieces: Today, soften intothe great web of belongingand feel itenchant and inspire you.Today, believe in the constancyof change.Today, trust the yearningtoward returning, the seed of possibilitybeing nourishedin the dark wombof beginnings. Currently reading: (to self) Daggerbound—from T. Kingfisher, this is second in a series about ancient warriors bound/trapped in magical swords. This one has a m/m romance subplot and an absolutely fabulous new species of character that I will not spoil by describing! (The library suddenly got a digital copy of this and I set aside Summer in Orcus in favor of returning to the world of the White Rat!) (listening to by self) The Spare Room—surprise! This is NOT by T. Kingfisher! I haven’t listened to enough of it yet to draw any conclusions—it seems to be domestic suspense/mystery-ish, but I also think it has a salacious side that I might not be ready for, toxic relationships are about to begin. Side note: I also did manage to finish listening to Yesteryear, which was very engrossing, but was also more appropriately described as domestic suspense than “comedy,” and was truly about descent into mental illness rather than anything else. October’s Allies: Baba Yaga, Burdock, Tortoise, and Labradorite Reminder: May you anchor in. May you root deep. May you tap your resources, and may you claim the wild within. Note: expanded edition is here. Questions What are you grinding away that is extraneous? What are you shedding or casting away? How do you embrace your own wildness? Where in your life are you being asked to pay attention, or to seek solitude? Who do you count on when you are burned out and your soul is malnourished? What lineages are you already part of? Which ones do you want to claim? Where does structure appear in your life? Are you comfortable in it, or do you rebel against it? Where do you need to slow down and set your own pace? Where do you need stronger boundaries? Where are you being asked to own your authority? Affirmations Magic lives in this very moment. I reclaim my life-loving wisdom. I embrace the fullness of living. I travel on pathways I make myself. I reclaim the wild one within. I express my wild self creatively. Keep it simple and sacred whisper the trees, let go with grace and trust the turning, watch how the leaf rides the air all the way to the ground.Let life astonish you, mess and magic all entwined.Be patient with yourself.Feel the mask slip away as the mist rises and mystery invites you in. Embers (and Allies) for September
2026/09/12
And, so,gently, September slides into the year, bringing breaths of cool air,the first yellowing leaves, and welcome clarity as we review what we learned in the cauldron and emerge to once again commit to what we know to be true, choosing with trust, determination, and renewed purpose as we look at our lives, at the abundant possibility around us, and settle into the rhythm that nourishes us, that supports us as we both change and thrive. Let us savor the time spent being here in this season of power and plenty. Happy September and welcome to this week’s Rituals of Returning newsletter and our September allies as we cross the threshold into a new season! We’ve updated the shop with some beautiful OOAK goddesses and color experiments as well as Hestia flags and bags. And, we’ve got our beautiful, powerful, magical ritual kits for Mabon ready as well! September Thresholds Imagine standing at a doorway in your life, a threshold into a new season. By the door there’s a basket. You don’t have to abandon anything forever. You can simply set a few things down for now. It’s okay to put some things in the basket, leave it at the threshold, and step across into what is waiting for you. (If you change your mind, you can always go back and get it later.)Prompt for this week:Name one thing you’d like to “leave in the basket” as we cross into September. Embers for September In the threshold meditation I recorded for the Goddess Magic Mystery School with an expanded version of the above, I also invited people to consider their “ember for September.” If you imagine your life as a hearth, then September is not necessarily about building a roaring fire, it can simply be about tending a single glowing coal. It might be an ember of rest, or an ember of creativity, an ember of courage, or an ember of trust. You might name this ember with an intention, a word, or simply a sensation in your body. You might place a candle on your altar and light it once a day. You might notice a moment—a hawk flying overhead, a monarch crossing your path, the smell of apples in the air—and name that as your ember of joy Inviting you, too, to consider: What ember am I tending this September? And, then, give that ember what you have: breath, presence, a smile, a few minutes of attention, a hand laid gently on your own heart. Feel free to hit “reply” or to share your thoughts on either of these prompts in the comments section! This week's magic: 20 minute video: September’s Allies—Replenish with Hestia. I’m celebrating the equinox and a book-aversary and the Kindle edition of Return is on sale until September 15. My poem “the poem I wasn’t going to write” was published in the Amethyst Review in June (but I didn’t see it until this month). Other new videos: September’s activation replay (35 minutes) August’s Book of Magic Days flip-through (2 minutes) and, check out the new Wayshowers experience from the Divine Feminine App! Such a neat idea (and I’m honored to be included). New Class! Replenish at the Hearth Throughout this month, I’m offering a simple and sacred class called Replenish at the Hearth. Inspired by the goddess Hestia and by the “release and review” energy of the autumn equinox as well as our allies for the season, this class includes: The Hearthkeeper’s Handbook printable Hestia devotional which includes a poem, prompt, and practice for each day of the month. A companion guidebook for September, including a fall equinox ritual. Four short, simple guided audios with companion ritual “recipe” cards Weekly Live community practices on Patreon. This class is included at the $16 tier and above! For additional info and a special secret offer for September, check out this post. Note: if you are already a member of the Goddess Magic Mystery School you don’t have to do anything else—you’re already in and you’ll automatically get everything for the class. This post and announcement is for new members only (and so the post will be invisible to you if you’re already a member—you’re not missing anything, you’re just already there. :) ) Announcements: Writing Nature and Magic I’m delighted to be the guest teacher for this year’s session of Writing Nature and Magic from Lucy Pearce and Sarah Robinson. I’ve created SO MANY good things to share for this course, including two hour-long workshops (The Magic of Place and Poetry and Practice), a printable book, and a set of mix and match oracle cards. Registration with an early-bird discount is open until September 15 and the course begins in October. It is self-study for four weeks and concludes with a live workshop on November 3 with Lucy, Sarah, and me. Yay! Too Much Woman anthology Available for pre-order beginning today, I’m also delighted to be a contributor to the third Womancraft Publishing anthology, Too Much Woman. Really excited about this one! Resource Reminders: When you feel lost in all that swirls, may you remember: you are always invited to return.Every candle, every card, every deep breath, every pang of longingis a doorway home to yourself. Note: Live monthly activations are available to any member of the Goddess Magic Mystery School Patreon community free and paid both! FREE class: forty week Intro to Goddess Studies class! Gift a Goddess Magic membership to a friend! Life’s Bits and Pieces: Spirit of the Deep, remind me to tend my spiritas lovinglyas I tend my to do list.Nudge me toward wildflowers, long books, and creative conversations.Keep my soul awake, brave enough to say yesto what I need. When you temporarily get lost in a swirl of demands, do not shame and blame yourself. Remember, you are always invited to return. You will forget sometimes. You will scroll too long, over commit, get scattered, and feel frazzled.Remember. The practice isn’t perfection; it’s returning.Light the candle.Draw the card.Read the poem.Step outside and watch the birds.Blow a kiss to the moon. You are always allowed to come back to your breath, your body, your magic. What helps you nestle back into the real? Currently reading: (to self) Swordheart—my beloved T. Kingfisher coming through for me again with a daring tale of a middle-aged woman and a dashing and seasoned warrior who happens to inhabit the blade of a sword. (to kids): The Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking—I have already listened to this one, but I decided to see if T. Kingfisher could come through for my kids as well and break us out of our reading rut. We’re doing our best. This one is about a “minor mage” who has power over dough and baking, but finds herself as the last remaining hope of her whole city. (listening to by self) The Raven and the Reindeer—surprise! T. Kingfisher again! This one is based on Nordic folklore and is a retelling of the Snow Queen with some sapphic undertones. About a girl who sets forth to rescue a boy and discovers that perhaps she actually likes girls better than boys. Some Sami folklore and magic are also woven in. side note: Mark is currently reading Nettle and Bone also by…T. Kingfisher. I’ve already listened to myself and it is a favorite for me! (It is coincidentally this month’s book club pick at the local library, which is why I snagged a copy for Mark) (listening to with Tanner) The Magician’s Nephew—I could not resist getting the complete Chronicles of Narnia from Audible when I had a credit to use up before cancelling my membership. It is a single credit purchase for 33 hours and THE ENTIRE SERIES as one file. The first is narrated by Kenneth Branagh too, who is doing an excellent job with voice acting it, so it isn’t like you got discount/AI narrators for such a bargain either! I’m finding the Christian allegory a lot more heavy-handed than I tuned into as a kid and, of course, I’m also annoyed by the “witch is evil” trope, which feels very tired. However, it also contains some truly excellent understated British humor and I did so love this series as a kid that it remains fun to share it. September’s Allies: Hestia, Nettle, Nasturtium, Amethyst, and Fox Hestia,Keeper of Cauldron and Flame, bless this hearth, this desk, this sink, this screen, wherever my life is actually happening.Let my small acts of stirring, typing, folding, and feedingbecome prayers of care for myself and the world. Reminder: replenishment begins at the hearth—within yourself and your home—and then naturally extends outward into community. Note: expanded edition with practices and printable companion cards is here. This month’s theme is “Replenish.” As you watch and listen, you might consider: What in me needs replenishment? What is ready to be harvested? What is ready to be released? Our guiding presence this month is Hestia, keeper of the sacred flame and goddess of hearth and home. Hestia reminds us that: A house becomes a home when the hearth is tended. The hearth is not just physical—it is the center of your life, your heart, your body, your inner fire. Consider these questions: How are you tending your own hearth space? Does your home—inner or outer—need more attention, care, or love? Has your home become just a place to sleep and change clothes, instead of a place that nurtures you? An affirmation to continue working with this month (inspired by last month’s turquoise ally): I call myself home to myself. You might repeat: My home nurtures me. I am allowed to seek and receive replenishment. I am allowed to nourish and nur
Flourishing and Finishing as Summer Draws to a Close

Let us be generous with ourselves.Let us rest well and wisely. Let us listen to the yearning in our souls. Let us leave space for wonder and space for delight. Let us create and nurture wide margins for magic in our lives. Let us trust the call we feel. Let it lead us to leap in the direction of desire. Welcome to this week’s Rituals of Returning newsletter! This issue is short as we are traveling this week and the shop is closed. We will reopen on September 2 and our special edition Mabon kits will drop on September 4th! I hope you enjoy a sweet pause to deepen into this week’s resources. I am also taking a full Cauldron Week off of social media. The only place I will be active online until September 4th is in the Quips section of the Goddess Magic Mystery School. Despite being closed, I still wanted to squeeze one last newsletter into August to give you a free Tiny Summer Poems booklet that I wrote, inspired by the #tinysummerpoem challenge hosted by Beth Kempton. I hope you enjoy it! Tiny Summer Poems, Booklet Layout 1.33MB ∙ PDF file Download This week's magic: 10 minute video: Pele’s Fire—Anger and Desire. Note: September’s Ally video will become available on September 6th. Our herbal allies are nettle and nasturtium and our animal ally is the fox. Other new videos: 11 minutes: June prayerbook flip-through 6 minutes: Back to the Roots flip-through 7 minutes: We’Moon 2027 unboxing and, just for fun—I was featured in Patreon’s “what does a Quip sound like?” reel on Instagram. Gift a Goddess Magic membership to a friend! Life’s Bits and Pieces: In each year, some things flourishand some things finish.Be patient with yourselfas you listento your own life. August and early fall offer powerful invitations into both reviewing and renewing. What are you inviting to become real? In this month’s Simple and Sacred live circle, I read one of my poems from 365 Days of Goddess and then offered this invitation: Tonight’s candle lighting invites you to consider what is bubbling up from that cauldron of dreams. What are you inviting to become real? We named: contentment, harmony, acceptance, creativity, aligned action, listening to intuition, finishing books, speaking up, slowing down. After each, I offered the benediction: May it become real. I share this now with the wider circle present here in the the Rituals of Returning newsletter. What are you inviting to become real? Feel free to share yours in the comments, or whisper it into a candle flame tonight. Pele’s Fire Reminder: May you follow the call of your desires, dance with all your feelings, and keep living your magic. Note: expanded edition with practices and printable companion cards is here. Questions to consider: How are you in touch with the molten, fierce aspect of your life—that deep inner heart, that core beneath distraction, division, worry, and concern? What is the fierce, molten core of your life right now? What is your relationship with your own anger? How have you been taught to handle anger (and how does gender socialization impact it)? What is your heart’s true desire? How can you more intentionally listen to the rhythms of your heart and breath, your own “internal drumming”? What dreams are you ready to extend your arms to embrace? Affirmations I extend my arms to embrace my dreams. I embrace my own passion. I dance to the rhythms of my life. I take action to manifest my heart’s desire. I choose and change. It is now that we rememberwe are here to be in love with living, not to exist for productionor performanceor to pleasethe electronic rectanglesof approval and discordthat we carry with us through our days. Here, now, curled in a green cocoonof becoming,we remember how it feelsto treasure our place on this earth, raindrops sprinkling our shouldersand starshine in our eyes, feet planted on the earth, arms lifted toward the moon. This is what is sacred now, being alive in the real. Wild Enchantment and More Allies for August!
2026/08/15
Pause. Root yourself in where you are, your own landscape of living. Allow yourself to be, whole and here, held and heard. Keep a space for the sacred at the center of your own life. Hold it holy. Return often. Happy weekend! I hope you are making some space to steep in the deepness of this thick, heavy, hot summer season. To honor the abundance of this time of year, we have our new Summer Meadow goddesses in the shop. We also still have some of our special edition Pele-inspired Lava goddesses available. This week's magic: It is now that we are invitedto step into the cauldron of change,to sink downand inand let everything we are carryingsoften and melt awaywhile we remember how it feelsto simmer in everythingwe have made, all that we love to tasteand serve. My most recent essay for Feminism and Religion, Notes from the Cauldron of Change, was published this week. 14 minute mini ritual video: from reactive to creative, more allies for August. scroll all the way down to the bottom for your free companion card set! New audio for Everyday Magic: Wild Enchantment. I’ve actually started working on my next book! A Book of Magic Days should be finished by late fall. As I explained in this week’s community practice live, when I say “writing a book,” what I really mean is that all of the pieces of the book are already written, I just have to start putting the puzzle together and getting it all formatted and laid out. Unfortunately, the laying out part is the hard and boring part. I’m really in the thick of it! I am up to April in it so far. I was hoping to have the first draft in my actual hands by the end of this month, but I don’t think I’m going to make it that swiftly. Speaking of writing, I’m so pleased to announce that we’re offering a free, special Writers Workshop on October 9th at 7:00 central time (via Zoom) with the founder of Rolla Writers Club, Derek Zboran. Feel free to bring your questions for the second half of the night which will be a writers Q & A segment about writing, self-publishing, and more! Life’s Bits and Pieces: We all need momentsof pause in our days, moments with clear eyesand open hearts,a willingness to step into magicand to be alert for scraps of enchantment. We need timewith our breath slow in our bellies, our hearts easy in our chests.May we be brave enough to listento what we need.May we open to trust.May we be brave enough to listen.May we choose and actfrom the centerof our own living wholeness. reading: (to self) The Raven Boys—not fully sure how I feel about this one yet. Older-YA fiction about a girl, Blue, who comes from a family with psychic powers and a ley-line-obsessed private school student and his assortment of troubled friends. (to kids) we’re struggling to find something anyone likes. HELP! So far, we are now partway through Steelheart (too violent, depressing, and occasionally cringe in characterization for my taste, but kids are semi-interested in it and it IS by Brandon Sanderson) and also Gabriel Finley and the Raven’s Riddle (this one is on the chopping block because the riddles are, frankly, so bad. For a book in which riddles feature heavily, you think you’d include some good ones. This book is about people having lost their former special magical relationship with ravens and also about valravens, who are evil, flesh-eating immortal ravens. Yeah. Sounds like it would have potential…right?). I have Dragonwatch queued up in my kindle, but they kids got annoyed with Seth during the Fablehaven series and he’s in this book too. I’ve also got Wolf Tower by Tanith Lee in print that I got from a playgroup giveaway box back in the day and maybe her time has finally come! (listening to with Tanner): From the Desk of Zoe Washington—a story about a girl who wants to be on a kids baking show. She also has an incarcerated father that she begins to communicate with secretly. It is ALSO narrated by the same voice actor that narrated Mighty Miss Malone, who we have now learned is Bahni Turpin and she is one of our favorite narrators! She does an amazing job. This is a second listen for us, because we also listened to it a couple of years ago for Alaina’s literature. (listening to by self): A Dark and Wild Wood—I’ve actually been listening to this while typing, but then I had to stop to focus. I thought initially it was a re-visioning of Bluebeard, but I might be mistaken. It is about a woman with some un-controlled, dark magical powers (still unspecified), who experiences quite a lot of trauma and bad experiences and ends up going from a convent to a brothel to a mysterious chateau in the woods with a potentially dangerous man-spirit of whom I will give you no more info in case you decide to read it. Note: I am on Fable if you want to follow along with what I read there! Resource Reminders: August’s practice update for #30DaysofGoddess! Back to the Root free series is still available: Make sure to check out the collection where all of the free posts are available. And, you can still grab your welcome kit with beautiful journals and customizable covers. Make sure to keep up with our dedicated newsletter for Gaea Goddess Gathering! Coming up in September right here in Missouri. Side note: I’ve been listening to SO MUCH SJ Tucker this month as she’s our special guest at this year’s Thirtieth anniversary GGG. From Reactive to Creative, An August Ritual with Pele This is a spacious time, on the cusp of change, in which we savor what is simmering and celebrate what is emerging. In this season, we give thanks for all that has bubbled up and all that still brews unseen. We bless what is finished and what is yet to come. Reminder: Gather your splintered attention, awaken your inner fire, navigate by joy, and nourish your body and spirit so that your life becomes creative rather than reactive. This video explores: Pele – awakening, elemental fire, and the magic of paying attention Honeybee – navigating by the sun, joy, and your inner compass Oats (Madre of Water) – nourishment, self-care, and emotional soothing Questions to consider: What is awakening for you? Have you been sitting still for too long? Where is your attention right now? Are you living from a creative place or a reactive place? Where is your attention splintered or fragmented? Do you overthink things and put out your inner flame? How can you, like Honeybee, store some of life’s liquid gold so you have a little sunshine when you need it? Where does your life need a little extra organization, and how can you draw upon the wisdom of the hive? How can you dedicate time to following the sun and aligning with its rhythm? Where can you allow yourself more rest and replenishment? How can you nourish your body and spirit? Affirmations I wake up to my potential and power. I see things as they really are. I pay attention. (Paying attention is powerful magic!) I navigate toward joy. I align myself with my inner compass. I open my heart and let my intuition flow. I nourish my body and spirit. I am kind and gracious to myself. I transform tension into healing. I embrace my emotions. Reminder: I do create monthly handbooks for members of our Goddess Magic Mystery School community. Note: We also still have a few of this month’s ritual kit available. Expanded post available here. August at the border… August is a doorway,a border month*,one foot in the clover, one in new-fallen leaves,a hand full of elderberries,a pocket full of wind. This is the odd, uneven time*when hydrangeas suddenly bloom and sunflowers go to seed, and our lives are like this toosome things lavish, some still in leaf, some withering, some tight-budded,and waiting to bloom. We may dream of great cauldrons of changein which to steep and dream, but have a mug of time instead, ten minutes, one page,a single rose, yet even this small spacesoftens something inside us.So, we bless the first fruits, the half‑finished, falling things, and whisper our simplest spell:Breathing in, we arrive.Breathing out, we softenand make peace.“Hey ritual,”we say,“I’m returning.”(*"border month" comes from Tove Jansson. "odd uneven time" comes from Sylvia Plath. Both from pieces written about August. "Hey ritual," part is a funny, but fitting autocorrect from this month in which I said: "a ritual of returning," and the voice-to-text gave me, "hey, ritual! I'm returning!") Sending love to all of you. Keep living your magic, This is a public episode. Happy Lammas! August's Allies and More!
2026/08/01
In the heat of summer, I pause at the crossroads, lighting a candle in the sacred cauldron of my heart.I listen to the whispers of my soul,as dreams coalesce and possibilities take form.I stand in the center of my own life, where I extend my hands to touch the infinite fieldthat carries and holds me in each moment.I breathe in the ordinarygifts of life, the bright sky above me, the solid earth beneath me,the squirrel’s dance, the fox’s crossing, the falling star’s blazing message.Grant me the courage to show up,the willingness to notice and see,to love the ordinary and trust itas my pathway to the sacred. In this living practice of presence, magic, mystery, and meaningcoalesce. (to kids) Into Battle, book five in the Seventh Tower series—I took a break from reading while we were gone to Nevada and so we’ve just started this one. I’m a little disappointed that they are now prepping for this big battle and solving the problems of their unraveling society and worldview with a fight. (listening to with Tanner): How to Trap a Tiger—a story about a girl and her mother and sister who go to live with their grandmother in a small town and there is a mysterious, elusive tiger that she keeps glimpsing. Rooted in Korean folklore, but set in modern times. (listening to by self): Mila 2.0—contemporary YA fiction about an android girl who doesn’t originally know she is an android super solider and is now on the run from the government. Finished the Saint of Steel (Paladin) series by T. Kingfisher and they were all so good. Loved them. My favorite series this year! I also finished reading The Magic of Us. Gift a Goddess Magic membership to a friend! Tara, White Willow, and Clear Quartz: June’s Allies Happy June! Willow and Linden are our herbal allies for June—rooted, wise, and healing. Welcome to our June and our allies for this month! This month we journey into the heat of summer, creativity, and the energy of Litha (the summer solstice) guided by Goddess Tara, White Willow, Linden, Clear Quartz, and the Mouse as our animal ally. Thank you for being here! May you go back to your roots, let your feelings move like water, and welcome a clear, joyful reset this summer season. Reminder: I do create monthly handbooks for members of our Goddess Magic Mystery School community and June’s handbook is available here. Expanded post available here. Questions to explore: What would it feel like to let yourself be surrounded by love—right now, as you are? Can you have a feeling without putting it into words? What is stagnant in your life right now? Where in your life are you repeating the same emotional script instead of letting it move? Do you feel yanked hither and yon by the pull of your feelings or by other people’s needs? What would it look like to let emotions flow through you and then go, rather than damming them up? If you could return one aspect of your life to the “factory settings,” what would it be? What are your own deep roots right now—what actually nourishes you? When you go back to the roots, what do you discover you truly want to keep, and what is ready to be released? Where in your life are you choosing what is convenient or comfortable over what might be deeply true or needed? Affirmations: I listen to the child within. I am surrounded by love. I nourish wholeness by going within. I dance with what life has to offer. I create my life with joy. I dip my feet into the current of the sacred. My emotions flow through me with ease. I listen to the ways of water. I stay open to what is. I stay open to what’s unfolding. I welcome a clear, loving reset in my life. I return to my roots and open to new possibilities. A gift to be here… I treasure my place on this earth, the power of connection, the roots of inspiration, the softness of settling in, the certainty and grace of belonging. It is a gift to be here, watching it all spin. Sending love to all of you. Life’s Bits and Pieces: Today, I listen to my body, where she is saying no, so that my soul can say yes, to the muse in both land and skin who know the way.My no is a spell of protection. My yesis a spell of devotion. I let inspiration carry me with ease. reading: (to self) Fields of Asphodel—a novel about the daughter of Hades and Persephone and her relationship with Thanatos. It is okay, but I do keep forgetting where I am because it isn’t that memorable. I also took a break from it while I read… (just finished) My Other Heart—this was August’s book club pick at the library and it was so engaging that I ate it right up in a few nights. It is about two girls, one who is adopted and is half-Japanese, and one whose single mother is from China, as well also about a Vietnamese woman with a tragedy to investigate. It was really touching and felt very real in terms of characterization. (to Tanner) More Milly Molly Mandy—these vintage UK stories from the 1920’s charmed me as a little girl and they still charm me today. Love them! I’m taking a break from reading to everyone because they got fed up with the Seventh Tower series and need a break. I’m going to be extremely sad if that series is what stopped my tradition of reading aloud to all my kids each night (including those in their twenties). :( (listening to with Tanner): Conjure Island—a story about a girl who ends up having to stay with a long-lost great-grandmother on a mysterious island off the coast of South Carolina, where she finds out that she comes from a long line of Gullah people well-versed in Southern conjure magic. Happy July and welcome to this week’s Rituals of Returning newsletter! This month we are steeping in the Cauldron of Change. We also have August’s ritual kit ready for you in the shop. This week's magic: 13 minute mini ritual video: allies for July impromptu “witch at work” studio altar tour part two house altar tour I’m happy to report that I won third place in the Deane Wagner Poetry Contest for my poem: “Do Poets Eat at Taco Bell?” My 100 word story, “Warm-blooded” (shortlisted in the Tadpole Press 100 word story contest last month), has now been published in the 10th volume of “How to Save the World” from Compassiviste Press. 100% of the proceeds from the anthology goes to the Zaatari Desert Garden project, helping Syrian refugees develop hydroponic food production in the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan. The digital book is available from: Compassiviste website Amazon Barnes and Noble Kobo Event notice for upcoming free event (not-affiliated, just passing the word along): On July 21st at 11am PT/ 2pm ET/ 8pm CET, there is a free online gathering with Pat McCabe (Weyakpa Najin Win, Woman Stands Shining): Seeding a New Future. Back to the Roots collection with so many free resources from June! The Cauldron of Change I’ve been making space to steep in the Cauldron of Change this month, even with just a few morning minutes to reflect and integrate. I made this little prompts booklet for my community and it has been such a helpful resource—I’ve also been dropping my Womanrunes draw of the day into the Cauldron rune and seeing how the two work together. I’d love to invite you to join us as well—we’re doing live community practices each Monday! Back to the Roots! Life’s Bits and Pieces: Even when life is busy even when there is too much to do,even when everythingand everyone needs something from you,you know a one word spell of power:Return,a practice,a process,a prayer, an invitation to settle and re-settle into your own wise center,to root downand reach outand reclaim. reading: (to self) How to Save the World—referenced above from Compassiviste. This is an interesting anthology with poems, short stories, and book excerpts from speculative fiction. It has made me highlight several book titles to get separately because I was hooked in by the extracts included. (to kids) The Violet Keystone, the sixth and final book in the Seventh Tower series (why there aren’t seven gets on all of our nerves, but we’re also ready for the series to be over). listening to: by self: Caroline—this is an adult retelling of the Little House on the Prairie saga through Ma’s eyes. It WAY overuses simile and is a little more navel-gazing than I expect Ma would actually have had time for, but I’m finding it very engaging and interesting. Listening to this for me is completely independent of the new Netflix series that is currently ALL over the news and social media. I didn’t even know there was going to be a new series until just this week and I have been on the waiting list for Caroline for several months now. I also feel like I need a disclaimer that despite my deep childhood fondness for this series, as an adult, I’ve definitely come to see what a sanitized, idealized, and whitewashed picture it paints of the westward expansion, colonialism, and the indigenous nightmare of forced removal. with Tanner and Mark: Daughter of the Deep—a lengthy revisiting of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Rick Riordan. Shades of Percy Jackson and a bit of Harry Potter abound therein. I do enjoy the diverse cast and the female heroine. This made for good listening on our recent drive to Ohio and Kentucky. Rooster call, cicada buzz, fly dance, wind rustle, spiderweb shimmer, ironweed in bloom. Wise weeds and wild ones, show me the holiness hidden in what I overlook. There is plenty right here, a cocoon for the metamorphosis of now. Inviting you to step into the Cauldron of Change in our Rituals of Returning video for July. This month is a gently powerful invitation into midyear reflection and integration—a sacred pause to let your experiences steep, so you can carry forward what truly nourishes you. Reminder: I do create monthly handbooks for members of our Goddess Magic Mystery School community and July’s handbook is available here. Expanded post available here. Questions to consider: What from the first half of this year needs to be: Scooped out and released? Left to steep longer? More fully savored and integrated? What needs to be reconsidered, redefined, or re‑explored at this midpoint of the year? Where do you need spikier boundaries around your time, your days, and your energy? What needs to be lovingly cut away so you can choose transformation? Where are you being invited to savor the sweetness of your life more fully? How can you create sanctuary in your everyday life, right where you are? How can you create what you seek right now, in the middle of everything? What might become clear if you grant yourself a sacred pause this month to integrate, reflect, deepen, and steep? Affirmations I tumble with the turning. I allow myself to choose and to change. I take my life to the cauldron and listen. I am on the lookout for the presence of wonder. I am awake to the miracle. I tend to the secret garden in my soul. I am at home in myself. I create a sanctuary in my everyday. I savor this sweet and wild life. A Blessing of Belonging We close our weekly live community practice each week with our familiar blessing of belonging:Breathing in, we arrive in our bodies, breathing out we soften. We remember we belong to the earth and the sky,to ourselves and one another.May our small, steady flamesjoin countless othersin a great weaving of repair. Here, in the Cauldron of Change of summer, we remember: we do not change alone. We change in circles, in conversations, in the solidarity of knowing that other people, other places, are lighting their candles too, placing their own experiences into the cauldron, asking their own questions, and trusting that together, across distance and in all our imperfect humanity, we are part of a great weaving of repair. So as July unfurls, I invite you to steep in some practices/ideas that we’ve recently been exploring in circle: Let July be July. Let yourself be yourself. Release what is too heavy. Let what is still becoming have time to steep. Savor what is already sweet and true. And remember, every time you pause to remember you belong: you are a small, steady flame in a wide, wild, shimmering cauldron of change in which we can brew a new world to share. Our Inner Pace… My inner pace in Julymoves in resonancewith the languorous, liquid, luminous, lazy rhythm of desire,of longing,of curiosity and wonder. It is the pace of discovery,of creative renewaland energetic re-setand review, the pace of life’s own unfolding,on its own time,in its own ways. Sending love to all of you. Summer's Invitations: Allow, Let Go, and Create!

Waters flowand clear light shines, summer’s magic is now mine. reading: (to self) Red Rising—a little violent and disturbing and disheartening (a blend of Hunger Games meets Ender’s Game), this book is also immediately engaging and swoops you right up into this sci-fi world of far-future colonists of Mars and how they have stratified society into a brutal color-caste system. Naturally, we must rely on a plucky, gifted, unwillingly heroic 16 year old to save the day (world). (to kids) Into Battle, book five in the Seventh Tower series—almost finished with this one (also color-caste based society with Red at the bottom, interestingly!). We’re starting to get a little annoyed by some elements of this series, I have to admit. I don’t want to spoil it, but sometimes the plucky, unwillingly heroic, teenagers get a little too “promoted” through the ranks than makes any logical sense. (still listening to with Tanner): How to Trap a Tiger—we’ve got about 20 minutes left in this one. Rooted in Korean folklore, but set in modern times. Gift a Goddess Magic membership to a friend! Allow, Let Go, Create: More Allies for Summer Happy Summer! I return to the roots.I return to now,to the pulse beneath all the noise,to the ripeness of this moment. I let presencetransport meinto the sacred. In this week’s video, I share our supplemental herbal ally, Linden, and our animal ally, House Mouse, inviting us to return to beginner’s mind, embrace imperfection, and create our lives with quiet, persistent joy. Reminder: I do create monthly handbooks for members of our Goddess Magic Mystery School community and June’s handbook is available here. Expanded post available here. May we have patience with our infinite dreams and our beautifully human limitations. May we make space for deep listening to our heart’s longings and trust in inner wisdom.May we remember that we are woven into a magnificent web of magic, supported, connected, and enough.May we be soft but persistentas we continue to create lives we love to live. Questions to consider: What attracted you to a goddess faith, or an earth-based path, or to everyday magic and sacred living? Can you allow space for mystery in your days? Side note: this reminds me of a quote I read after making this video: “God is the name of the blanket we throw over the mystery to give it shape.” (Barry Taylor) How might you tackle the challenges in your life by going in small? How might we tackle some ordinary situations in our lives that are heaping up and asking for attention—one book, one box, one basket, one item at a time? Can you allow yourself to go back to the roots? Affirmations I am flexible as I build my future. I protect my resources by surrounding them with what I love. I take on my tasks with a playful air. I take care of what I love. I open my hands and let go. I allow my life to be as it is. I allow ease. I allow joy. I allow discovery. I allow transformation. I allow myself to go back to the roots. I create my life with joy. I accept this moment. Flowering Where We Are June holds the full creative power of the year—everything lush, buzzing, ripening, in bloom. And still…sometimes we don’t feel ready for all the brightness and busyness. In our Simple and Sacred circle this month, we honored that it’s okay if this isn’t your year to be in full blossom, maybe you’re strengthening roots instead of showing flowers. You are no less magical for blooming slowly. Does it feel like this is a root-growing summer or a flower-showing summer for you? "the faithfulness I can imagine would be a weedflowering in tar, a blue energy piercingthe massed atoms of a bedrock disbelief"—Adrienne RichIn our Community Practice last week, I shared an essay by Daniela Molnar called “Flowering in Tar" (Oregon Humanities). She invites us into our senses for a "geohaptic" connection. Imagine that your six senses—touch, sight, sound, taste, smell, and intuition—are six thick roots extending from your body down, down, down to the center of the planet, where they anchor into what Annie Dillard once called Holy the Firm. Holy the Firm can be whatever you name as ultimate:• Goddess/God• gravity or time• molten metal or mystery• the sacred, the absolute, the hum at the center of things From that core, these roots rise back through the layers of the earth—rock and soil, water and air—reaching into your veins, your skin, your bones, your mind, and heart. "You are socketed into the living world through your senses." This deep rooting is a gift. And, a quote to remember and draw strength from: “When the world feels hard, remember this: We live on a planet where trees feed their dying elders through underground rivers of root and fungus. Where whales carry songs older than memory across entire oceans and octopuses dream in shifting colour. Where every breath we take is given by trees and the algae drifting through the sea. Where plants rise around us as medicine, monarch butterflies travel thousands of miles on wings softer than paper, and tiny birds navigate by sensing the earth itself. Where starlight travels for millions of years before touching the earth, and tiny seeds break open stone in their longing for light.” -- Brigit Anna McNeilNote: this section was part of my Back to the Roots series free on Patreon. A summer blessing… And so,we crossed the thresholdinto summer, the vision we breathed into beingon the winter solsticehas now taken form.May we have the courage neededto stand in this liminal space, one foot in creative darkness, one foot in bright possibility.Let us look into our own cupped hands, seeing the seed dreamwe have nourished, that we’ve planted and protectedis now ready to bloom and thrive.Let us clear space around it.Let us weed awaywhat is not needed.Let us step backand invite the heat and passionof summer’s lightto invigorate and strengthenthat which we have so patiently tended. It is now when the visionswe have nurturedbecome real. During this series, we’ll revisit the roots and purpose of #30DaysofGoddess and daily practice and we will also explore 7 days of guided practices, all with a roots-related theme. I’ve got a printable prayerbook, prayercards, and ritual deck all ready for you and I can’t wait to share! Our primary celebration will take place June 17-24, but I have background support resources to share starting on June 1 as well. Life’s Bits and Pieces: Holy Life of roots and rhythms, protect me from the hunger for doing more, ever faster.Lead me instead toward what truly nourishesbody, spirit, and connection. reading: (to self) Paladin’s Hope—this is the third book in the Saint of Steel series by T. Kingfisher. I also read Paladin’s Strength last week. Each book in this series is about one of the paladins of the war god (the Saint of Steel) and what happens to them after the god suddenly and inexplicably dies, leaving his followers utterly bereft and broken. Now, they all work for the Temple of the Rat and investigating/protecting people from there. Really enjoying this series! This one is about a string of grisly murders and a lich-doctor (doctor who assesses cause of death) and a gnole constable (little badger-like creatures and one of the paladins who are trying to figure out who is sending these bodies down the river. *Note: main character’s name is Galen. I simply could not remember this while I was making the audio. (to self): Somatic Shamanism after joining the Book Club level of the Girl God’s Patreon. An experiential journey through the tree of life and one’s own “fleshy knowing.” (to kids) Above the Veil, book four in the Seventh Tower series—more sinister secrets are unveiled as Tal and Milla struggle to survive in a world that wasn’t what it seemed to be. listening to with Tanner: How to Trap a Tiger—have previously listened to this with Alaina for homeschool literature. A story about a girl and her mother and sister who go to live with their grandmother in a small town and there is a mysterious, elusive tiger that she keeps glimpsing. Rooted in Korean folklore, but set in modern times. listening to by self: Mila 2.0—contemporary YA fiction about an android girl who doesn’t originally know she is an android super solider and is now on the run from the government. Side note: my kids are currently watching Sweet Tooth and also Kipo and we have had to laugh because the main characters in all three of these are misled/misinformed by their parents as to their identity and all find out by finding a folder with their own name on the front, which turns out to be an acronym for whatever government experiment they are (well, for Mila, it is an ipod, but still. Labeled with her name, which is revealed to be an acronym). Note: I am on Fable if you want to follow along with what I read there! May you find joy in unexpected ways and make space for what is essential to gently appear. In this Rituals of Returning video, we wrap up the month of May by continuing with our explorations of the Egyptian goddess Bast, the month of Love, and cats as companions, guardians, and guides. Questions to Explore: How am I finding joy in unexpected ways? Can I allow myself to be as light-hearted as a cat? How am I embracing my own playful qualities? Is it possible to be both independent and reliant on others? Can you be fully content with life when you are not in complete control? Where do I need more connection? Where do I need more solitude? How am I balancing self-sovereignty with my need for strong community? Where do I still feel like I have to “earn” my place in the sun? What do I notice when I “smooth” my energy field—where feels sticky, rough, or heavy? How can I create more space for what is essential to appear? Where in my day can I create a small clearing where the sacred can breathe? Affirmations as we wind down this month: I allow myself to be as light-hearted as a cat. I embrace my own playful qualities. I find joy in unexpected ways. I breathe into the knowing that I am worthy. I am rooted in love. I trust who I’m becoming. I restore myself to wholeness. I am open to what is. I allow peace to find a place. I allow joy to arise. I make space for what is essential to appear. I allow essential truths to emerge. I create a clearing at the center of my being where the sacred can breathe. Questions to Explore: How am I finding joy in unexpected ways? Can I allow myself to be as light-hearted as a cat? Enjoying the sunshine of life… Remember: cats never say, “I have too much to do to enjoy this patch of sunshine.”In last week’s community practice we reflected on Bast—goddess of play, pleasure, grace, and independence—and how our cats teach us to relax and rejoice in the light while it’s here.An invitation for you today: Notice one “patch of sunlight” in your life—a moment of warmth, ease, or delight—and let yourself actually sink into it.What’s your “patch of sun” like today? Can you allow yourself to enjoy it? Offering… Let us offer what we can offer. Let us share what we can share. Let us create what we can create. Let us love what we love. Life’s Bits and Pieces: May I remember I am not here to watch from the edges, but to co‑create in the ceremony of life's unfolding.May I choose with wise discernment what I will tend in my cauldron of creation.May I return, again and again, to my own sacred center. And, may I trust that some wishes are meant to wander on the wind, carrying my magic farther than I can see. reading: (to self) Living in Process—while I have a couple of complaints about this book in terms of what feels like missing information/explanation, I am really enjoying the exploration of living in process, remembering the this earth, this world, this life is not static, it is an unfolding and each of us has a process to live and explore. (to kids) Aenir, book three in the Seventh Tower series—I actually finished the second book, The Castle, in between April’s newsletter and this one. I’m still enjoying this series, in which everything the main character has thought to be true about his life and world unravels as he discovered how much more lies outside the shadowy boundaries of his life. (listening to with Tanner): Brian’s Hunt—the final book in the survival classic series that developed after Hatchet. Since I last wrote, we also listened to The River, Brian’s Winter, and Brian’s Return. We also continued our Gary Paulsen festival by listening to Northwind, which is about a Viking-era type of boy who has to survive alone on the sea. (listening to by self): Sisters in the Wind—I’ve barely begun this one, as I only recently finished listening to Warrior Girl, Unearthed. This is the third book following Firekeeper’s Daughter, but it actually takes place temporally between the events of Firekeeper and Warrior Girl. I actually liked Warrior Girl, Unearthed more than Firekeeper’s Daughter overall, but I was really left frustrated by the many holes in the ending. Each of these books is a 12+ hour listen, so be prepared! Note: I am on Fable if you want to follow along with what I read there! Playfulness, Sweetness, and Heart-Healing Happy May! Marshmallow and Raspberry are our herbal allies for May—soft, spiky, sweet, and resilient. In this month's video, we embark on an exploration of Beltane, centered on the Egyptian cat goddess Bast (Bastet). We weave together goddess wisdom, plant medicine, crystal allies, and animal guidance to support a season of love, playfulness, and heart-healing. May you be playful this month. May you pause to listen to your heart. And, may you savor sweetness in the ordinary moments Reminder: I do create monthly handbooks for members of our Goddess Magic Mystery School community and May’s handbook is available here. Expanded post available here. And, bonus affirmation set for paid subscribers is included at the bottom of this newsletter (scroll down). Questions to explore: Do you know how to play as you are now (at this age, in this season of life)? What does play mean to you today? Where might you be trying to “straighten” what is meant to be delightfully cattywampus? What would it feel like to bless the imperfect instead of fixing it? Where can you soften in your life—physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually? What rough edges are currently rubbing at your spirit, and how might you soften them? Where do you feel “thin,” leaky, or drained in your life or energy body right now? What fears or resentments are hurting you from the inside out? What would it look like to begin releasing even a little of that today? If your heart could speak freely, what would it say it needs in order to remember how to be whole? What idea, project, or dream are you ready to make manifest in this season? Affirmations: I allow playfulness to enrich my life. I find pleasure in the small moments. I follow what pleases me. I am rich in so many ways. I understand the sacred nature of the cattywampus way. I embrace the tender beauty in imperfection. I am playful. I dance in the love light of a benevolent Mother Goddess. I am rooted in love. I pause and return to center. I breathe deep and listen. I allow myself to delight in the sweetness of life. I am open to ease in the present. I soften and rediscover sweetness. I remember I am already whole. I am fierce and wild. Inhabiting the crossroads… I watch the orioles, orange and black embersagainst a backdrop of green. They do not know what is on my lists.Standing under this sky, this day,I remember:when we let the litany of the undonerun away with us,we forget to inhabit the real. The orioles are here today.Tomorrow is still only a rumor. Sometimes I feel like I’ve been “camping out” at a long, extended crossroads—combination of midlife re-evaluation, changing family constellations and needs, and simply living in the in‑between on a changing earth.Midlife invites us to recognize and hold the reality that we can’t live every possible life and can’t say yes to every shimmering door. But you can:+Listen for your own full yes from the wise guide within. +Make peace with the paths that must pass you by.+Trust that new doors appear because you let others close.A mini blessing for today:“May I choose with wise discernment, even when it means letting good things go.” Embodying the Goddess: Guest Video about Beauty So pleased to share this guest video from Cynthia Abulafia, the author of Embodying the Goddess with you as a special subscriber bonus this month! April's Herbal Ally: Dandelion
2026/04/11
And so, March slides easily away between the trees, whispering of storm clouds, sudden frost, and sunshine on new bloomed wild plums. She leaves stars of chickweed in the grass and dandelions lifting bright and eager faces to the sky.She holds the door for April, who is nudging her way in, skirts wide and capable, dotted with dogwood blossoms and redbud flowers. There are lilacs in her hair and violets on her shoes and lilies in her hands. We rise to greet her, hands outstretched in welcome, turning briefly to wave to March as she backs away, having done what she could with what she had to bless the land, to remind us of the bond between body and soil, between root and bone, between bloom and blood.Thank you,we wave, blowing a kiss as April sweeps across the threshold and catches us up in her danceof emerging. Welcome to this week’s Rituals of Returning newsletter! I am so pleased to announce that pre-orders for print copies of my new book, Thunder and Roses, are now open! Orders from the Etsy shop include special bonuses only available directly from us. The book becomes available worldwide in print on May 1 and is also available for pre-order on Kindle. This week's magic: 14 minute mini ritual video: wisdom in the weeds. Extra video: what is in my (magic) bag! My newest essay at Feminism and Religion shares 13 lessons from the spring. Fiddlehead goddesses! When we were searching for morels this past weekend, I was delighted to discover how well the Shakti I had with me matched the unfurling fiddlehead ferns! So, we made some more! Where fiddleheads are tightly furled, you know there’s magic in the world. Stepping into the Cauldron of Creation Within the bubbling depths,I honor my story and trust my process.I am not behind.I am not too late.I am in process, and my process is sacred.I am a woman unleashed.I am a person unleashed.I am a cauldron of creation. My special offering for April is a Cauldron of Creation series unfolding via the Goddess Magic Mystery School. A brief overview video is here. This series includes weekly live practices, rituals, and a printable card deck! Life’s Bits and Pieces: Today is a ritual of sky and skin, of bare branches and possibility. Today is a ritual of reclamation and recovery. Today is a new opportunity to forgive ourselves, to wrap ourselves in a cloak of graceand to come back home to ourselves with love. reading: (to self) The First Witches Club—one of the free Kindle reads for March, I believe, this book is about three very different woman whose marriages abruptly come to an end and they team up, working at a little apothecary shop with a wise Crone who owns it. (to kids) The Fall, book one in the Seventh Tower series—I have these books for ages and finally decided to read them. This one is about a boy who lives in a tower in a world of darkness except for the light that comes from “Sunstones” that they have to charge with light beyond the “veil” that surrounded their world. He falls off the tower into another land of ice and snow and has to try to get back to the tower. So far, it is pretty interesting, though my daughter doesn’t really like it. (listening to with Tanner): Hatchet—the survival classic for pre-teen boys, we’ve already listened to this one before and Tanner has read it to himself (and I’ve also read it to myself as a kid). About a boy who gets in a plane crash on his way to Alaska and has to survive with only a hatchet to keep him company. (listen to self): Warrior Girl Unearthed—I’ve just barely begun this one, it is the second book following Firekeeper’s Daughter and is about the twin nieces of the main character in the first book. It might a little much for me right on the heels of the other one, so I might take a break from listening to it. Thinking about: Doing more local events—I’m reading at PoetSpeak in town again next weekend and was invited to come to a local authors event at the library in a neighboring county for this month as well. I’ve joined several Missouri writers organizations this year. I’m also considering submitting to the Missouri Writers’ Guild contest and going to their conference in St. Louis in September. I also joined the Academy of American Poets! How much I enjoyed going to a sound bath meditation/ritual in town this week! Making a couple of revisions to Return—I discovered a big error in the final section of it this week (no #3 in my “Extras” section. HOW DID I MISS THIS?!). I had a couple of other small notes of minor changes to make, so I’m trying to make space to fix those all at once. This isn’t a book revision or second edition, just minor corrections. Looking forward to: Simple and Sacred Open Mic night tonight! We have a live circle every month. For notices, make sure you are on the #30DaysofGoddess email list. Sharing: Karen Tate’s new book, The Divine Feminine! I’ve always loved Karen’s articulation of Goddess as “deity, archetype, and ideal” (which leaves space for everyone to connect with her in some way) and I was pleased to endorse her new book! Wisdom in the Weeds: Dandelion Double click to interact with video Happy April! Reminder: I do create monthly handbooks for members of our Goddess Magic Mystery School community and April’s handbook is available here. Dandelion is our herbal ally for April—bright, persistent, resilient. They offer us this invitation: Keep turning your bright little face and your bright little hopes, to the sun, despite what comes. Hope is a practice. Persistence is a practice. Faith is a practice. This month, may we draw courage and inspiration from dandelions, resilient and radiant, even in challenging conditions and rocky, rough terrain What helps you keep turning toward the light? How are you navigating the rocky landscape of living? You will also enjoy the free booklet “Recipes and Rituals of The Herb Crafter’s Tarot” by Joanna Powell Colbert and Letisha Guthrie, which inspired some of the dandelion practices mentioned in this video. Joanna’s nourishing Substack may also be found here: Messages from Sea & Cedar with Joanna Powell Colbert. Remember: You already know the kind of nourishment you need—trust yourself, let your environment nourish you, and seek the wisdom in the weeds and overlooked places of your life as you step into the Cauldron of Creation. Questions to consider: Where are the “weeds” in your life that might actually be medicine or teachers? What overlooked or ordinary thing in your environment might be quietly supporting you? What “dream seeds” have you been holding in the dark that might be ready for light and warmth? If you stepped forward like The Fool, what new path or project would you begin—even if you don’t feel ready? What old stories or baggage are weighing you down that you’re ready to set aside? Where in your life are you willing to be a beginner again? What ideas, projects, or desires are currently bubbling and brewing in your inner cauldron? What small daily practice helps you realign with the sacred and restore yourself to wholeness? Affirmations to consider: I follow my dream seeds. I am audacious in my adventuring. I seek the wisdom in weeds. I keep my mind open. I am willing to experience life as a beginner. I give myself time and space to bubble and brew, to let new ideas and possibilities emerge. I know the kind of nourishment I need. I am a wildly complex human, perfect in my imperfection (from Amanda at The Phoenix Soul, Messy Affirmations) May you be well nourished this month.May you trust that you know the kind of nourishment you need.May you honor your wild complexity and seek the wisdom in the weeds. Today… We have felt the yearning stirring beneath the surface, beckoning us to stretch, to reach, to root, to rise. Now, we sense sunlight above the surface, feel the urge to crack open, to emerge into the wonder of day.It is now when we leap together in the direction of our dreams, leaving worry and fear behind us as we rememberwe can fly. Sending love to all of you. Keep living your magic, Molly, Mark, + Family This is a public episode. Evolving into Becoming Root into your body. Gather all your scattered pieces. Come back to center. Feel your feet connect to the earth. Breathe in. Breathe out. You belong to this moment. This video is a continuation of our allies for March--our animal ally (spring peeper!) as well as chamomile and seaweed! Core reminder: You are allowed to keep becoming. Note: the expanded version of this post is here. Questions to explore: How are you evolving into your next becoming? What is changing for you? What is emerging? How might you need to step out of your comfort zone this month? What would it mean for you to “return to a beginner’s heart”? Where in your life do you feel both tender and full of big dreams? Are you living mostly in the shallows or the depths of your own life right now? If you named this next phase of your becoming, what would you call it? Affirmations: I grow into my fullest potential. My magic continues to grow and evolve. I emerge into my life with wholeness, fullness, and trust. I emerge into the next phase of my becoming. I honor both my tender heart and my big dreams. I reach out for help (and to help). I know the medicine that I need. I am honest with my feelings. Mini ritual with Chamomile as our ally: Affirmations for this ally:I return refreshed to a beginner’s heart.I honor both my tender heart and my big dreams.Practice:Make a gentle cup of chamomile (or another supportive herb if chamomile isn’t right for your body). As you sip, ask: What does my tender heart need today? Fold your hands across your heart and repeat the affirmations, letting them sink into you. Bewitched… Greet the day and all it holds. Root yourself on the earth, steady and supported. Open your arms to the sky, gathering inspiration and vitality. Fold your hands over your heart and let restoration sink into you. Feel a fresh wave of appreciation for all the blessings of your life. Let it bewitch you with all the magic it contains. Sending love to all of you. Keep living your magic, Molly, Mark, + Family This is a public episode. The River of Inspiration
2026/02/28
May you have the courage to stand in your own knowing.May you find the grace to let go of striving for perfection, and instead embrace the sacredness of your imperfect, human journey.May luminous moments of optimism and possibility guide you, even as you move through gray times of despair and doubt.May you have the wisdom to choose differently, to prioritize what truly matters, creating a legacy that lingers. May you always find solace in the holy ground beneath your feet, the sacred presence that dwells within and all around you.Shine your light, dear one, your small, precious gifts are needed in this world. Happy Spring Equinox! I hope you are enjoying a gentle leap into a new season. Our own weather has been erratic and wild, including nearby tornadoes that wreaked havoc on our town. And, then, today, as I work on the newsletter, sporadic power outages at our house cutting off my internet. As such, this newsletter will be a little shorter than usual with only a brief audio edition. I’ve gotten very off schedule this week! Our shop update today is an eclectic one, featuring assorted divine imperfections, “Luna” one-of-a-kind goddesses, and some red winged Nemesis goddesses (by customer request). We also still have assorted goddesses in our very special spring pigment—a beautiful lilac with small flowers. We are using this pigment to honor Áine, the Irish Fairy Queen, who is this year’s featured goddess at Gaea Goddess Gathering. We do know that she is a summertime goddess, but we felt like this pigment was an excellent match for the spring equinox/Ostara and our month of Persephone as well, so we went forward with it! This week's magic: * 8 minute video: beholding delight. Resource Reminders: * New free series: An Introduction to Goddess Studies * 1. getting started * 2. printable journal * 3. affirmation card set * 4. portable altar space * 5. introduction to thealogy * 6. influential authors in goddess studies * 7. audio retreat: spots of time (note: publishing Saturday) Blog Posts: * Ritual Reading for Spring Equinox (A Spring Ritual of Returning) * Clarity and the Crossroads Beholding Delight Reminder: Let us be open to delight. Let us be open to wonder. Let us allow joy. Let us be open to the possibility of bliss. Journal prompts for the week: * What is calling to you? What doorway are you sensing? * What are you saying yes to? What is your ritual of returning? Affirmations for this week: * Happiness and ecstasy flow through me wildly and freely. * I am open to joy. * I say yes to life. * I listen to the call. * I allow an expansive dream or creative quest to emerge. * I find the small sacred moments in my daily life and let them sustain me. * I walk my path with presence and intention. Goddess of quiet knowing, help me to make a space for stillness,to guard a place for peace.Remind me that stillness and motionare a constant interplay, the beat between notes, the space between raindrops, the pause between breaths, the silence between heartbeats. The nature of the body is to be in motion, the constant unfolding of a whole universewhirling within our cells, the still spaces in betweensomehow holding the whole together,as in stillnesswe move.
