Ep 33 - Remove the Friction from your Routine
2026/02/25
This episode is about something deeply unsexy, wildly practical, and genuinely life-changing: removing friction from your routine. I'm not talking about fixing your whole life or solving big, dramatic problems. I'm talking about the tiny, annoying barriers that quietly drain your energy every single day. The stuff that shouldn't be hard, but somehow always is. Packing your bag in the morning. Forgetting snacks. Bills sitting in the back of your mind. Rewriting the same emails. Deciding what to cook. Making the same decisions over and over again until you're exhausted before the day has even really started. In this episode, I walk through how I design my life to run on autopilot. From batching meals, content, and admin, to automating decisions, setting up my environment properly, and looking after future me like she's a VIP. This isn't about perfection or obsession. It's about being organised on purpose so you don't need as much motivation, discipline, or willpower just to get through the day. If life feels harder than it needs to be, this episode will help you spot where the friction is and show you how to remove it, one simple system at a time. Check the show notes for a long list of tiny, practical ways you can start removing friction from your life today. Ep 32 - What is the Cost?
2026/02/18
This episode is a look at the real cost of the choices we avoid, delay, or quietly justify. Not money, but the stuff that drains your confidence, self-trust, energy, and future while you're telling yourself you're being sensible. Episode 32 is about the moments where you realise something has cost you far more than you ever budgeted for. The "safe" job. The comfortable relationship. The conversation you didn't have. The dream you parked for later. On paper, everything looks fine. In your body and your mind, something feels off. I talk about the hidden costs most people never factor in. Delaying dreams and slowly disconnecting from yourself. Avoiding difficult conversations and watching resentment quietly pile up. Neglecting personal growth and wondering why life feels harder than it should. Ignoring your mental and emotional health because you're busy, capable, and "fine". We get into why avoidance feels cheap in the short term but is wildly expensive over time. How self-trust erodes when you keep telling yourself "later". Why relationships rarely break in big blow-ups, but in all the things that go unsaid. And how stagnation sneaks up on you while life keeps moving. I also explain the feather, brick, truck theory. How life tries to get your attention gently at first, then escalates when you don't listen. Why the small nudges matter. And why picking up the feather is always easier than dealing with the brick, and a hell of a lot better than being taken out by a truck. This episode isn't about guilt or pressure. It's about clarity. Because everything has a cost. Taking action costs courage. Growth costs discomfort. Honesty costs vulnerability. But not taking action costs time, potential, and self-respect. The real question isn't "Can I afford this?" It's "What is this costing me long term, and am I actually willing to keep paying that price?" Ep 31 - The Harmless Habits That Are Holding You Back
2026/02/11
There are habits in your life that don't look like a problem. They're not dramatic, destructive, or obviously unhealthy. They're normal, defensible, and quietly woven into your day. And that's exactly why they're dangerous. In this episode, I unpack the micro self-sabotages that gently but consistently pull you away from your best self. Not the obvious stuff like alcohol, smoking, or junk food. You already know those matter. This is about the small, repeated behaviours that feel harmless in isolation, but compound over years. We explore why: The biggest limits in your life often come from tiny, repeated choices Self-sabotage is more about identity erosion than bad behaviour Optimisation is usually about subtraction, not addition Self-trust is built or broken in the smallest moments I share examples from my own life, along with patterns seen in high performers who didn't become exceptional by doing more, but by stopping what leaked energy, focus, and clarity. You'll also hear a simple seven-day experiment you can run this week. No overhauls. No declarations. Just data. If you've ever felt capable but slightly under-optimised, this one will land. Ep 30 - The Reinvention Rulebook - What I Wish I'd Known Sooner
2026/02/04
Episode 30 is about reinvention, not the Instagram kind, but the real, uncomfortable, deeply liberating kind. I've had plenty of "fine" chapters in my life. Fine jobs. Fine relationships. Fine versions of myself. And here's what I've learned: fine is dangerous. It looks good on the outside, but it quietly suffocates your potential. In this episode, I unpack the five lessons that shaped my biggest reinventions, from leaving the UK at 29, to studying engineering in my 30s, to building Transformation 28 from scratch. We talk about why reinvention is supposed to feel awkward, why clarity comes from action not thinking, how your environment can either sabotage or support you, and why discipline is real self-respect, not punishment. I also share why reinvention isn't a one-time event, it's a lifestyle. From Arianna Huffington to Stan Lee, Vera Rubin to Madonna, the people we admire most didn't wait for permission. They evolved on purpose. If you've been telling yourself you're "fine" but feel restless, bored, or quietly unfulfilled, this episode is your nudge. You don't need a breakdown to reinvent yourself. You just need to stop pretending. Ep 29 - Starting Journaling
2026/01/28
In this episode, I talk about how journalling went from "Dear Diary" embarrassment to a genuine life-changing practice for me. I share how I rediscovered journalling after moving to Australia, getting back into reading, and stepping into personal development, and why writing things down was the moment dreams started turning into actual goals. You'll hear real examples of how journalling helped me: Catch my own limiting beliefs that were stopping me applying for senior roles. Realise when anger was actually masking hurt or fear. Spot patterns in my relationships and my leadership style that I'd never consciously noticed. Change how I managed upwards at work and completely shift outcomes without changing a single project or budget. I also break down why journalling does not have to look a certain way. It can be one line a day, five minutes, lists, sketches, rambling thoughts, or messy honesty. The only rule is that it works for you. We cover the practical benefits too, from stress reduction and clarity to goal-setting, creativity, emotional processing, and accountability, along with some quick stats for context, taken with a healthy pinch of salt. If you've ever thought journalling sounded boring, awkward, or like another thing on your to-do list, this episode might change your mind. Start small, make it enjoyable, and let the insights surprise you. Did I capture the heart of this episode the way you wanted it to land?
Ep 28 - Ask Better Questions
2026/01/21
Most people think the quality of their life depends on their job, their car, or their relationships. But what if it actually depends on something far simpler, and far more powerful? The questions you ask. In this episode, Karen dives into how the quality of your questions directly shapes the quality of your life. From the seemingly small: "How can I get a job?", to the life-changing "How can I create a life that excites me?". Karen shares how reframing the questions you ask yourself can completely change your perspective, your results, and your growth. Drawing inspiration from Leila Hormozi's decision-making process, Karen unpacks the power of asking "What would my life look like if I made this choice every day?", and how this simple mental shift can transform your habits, mindset, and outcomes. If you're ready to move from "Why is this happening to me?" to "What can I learn from this?", this episode will show you how curiosity and better questions unlock self-awareness, stronger relationships, and real transformation. ✨ Plus, Karen shares a free bonus guide: Ask It Differently: 10 Questions That Hit Harder  designed to help you reframe your thinking and start asking the kind of questions that lead to breakthroughs. 🎧 Listen now and start asking better questions; because the right question, asked at the right time, can change everything. 👉 Download your free guide at https://www.transformation28.com/questions
Ep 27 - Embrace the Serendipity - Kismet - Destiny - Fate
2026/01/14
Sometimes the biggest turning points in life don't come from strategy, they come from sheer serendipity. In this episode, I'm diving into the magic (and science) of fate, those strange, unexpected moments that reroute your entire life when you least expect it. From the date that took me from Adelaide to Darwin, to the argument that led me to quit my job and move from the UK to Australia, to the random introduction that became a twenty-year friendship, I've learnt that life's detours often lead to the best destinations. But this isn't all woo-woo. Modern psychology, neuroscience, and even career theory back it up: when you're self-aware and open to new experiences, your brain literally starts spotting more opportunities. That's not magic: that's neuroplasticity in action. So if you're in the middle of a plot twist right now, this episode will help you see it differently. Maybe the question isn't "Why is this happening?" but "What could this be making space for?" Ep 26 - Persistence Pays
2026/01/07
Persistence isn't glamorous, but it's the reason every success story exists. In this episode, I talk about the one skill that underpins everything: persistence. The ability to keep going, keep learning, and keep believing: even when life gives you a thousand reasons to quit. I share my own story of persistence; from restarting my engineering degree in my 30s (after talking myself out of it once) to building my career, businesses, and discipline brick by brick. I also dive into the powerful examples of people who turned "no" into "not yet": J.K. Rowling, rejected by 12 publishers before creating a global phenomenon. Sylvester Stallone, who heard "no" 150 times before Rocky hit the big screen. Sara Blakely, who turned $5,000 and a mountain of rejections into the billion-dollar Spanx empire. Nick Vujicic, born without limbs, now inspiring millions worldwide. Vera Wang, Michael Jordan, and even Albert Einstein: all proof that persistence is the ultimate equaliser. Persistence doesn't mean perfection. It means showing up, again and again, no matter how many times you fall. Because you can be average at almost everything; but if you're persistent, you'll still win. If you've been doubting yourself, or thinking you're "too late" or "not ready," this episode will reignite your fire. Listen in, and remember: Fall down seven times, stand up eight.  ✨ Take your first step toward unstoppable persistence: start with clarity. Ep 25 - The Comeback Episode: Reinvention
2026/01/01
Ep 24 - Taking Responsibility
2023/10/24
Choosing to blame others as the response to a situation, means that you are degrading yourself. You see, when we continuously blame others it can reinforce a negative self-image. It suggests that we view ourselves as a victim rather than someone who is in control of their life and who has the ability and power to make choices.   Blaming others can serve as a way to avoid facing uncomfortable truths about ourselves and our actions. It can be a form of escapism that hinders personal development.  So if you constantly hear yourself saying things like, "it's not my fault", then you may be suffering a lack of personal responsibility - also known as blaming others.  By doing this you are distancing yourself from your problems, allowing yourself to play the victim and worst of all, keeping yourself stuck.   Responsibility requires us to meet our obligations and fulfill our duties.  At some point in our lives we all engage in blame, especially when faced with challenging situations. However, if blaming others becomes a chronic pattern in our behaviour and negatively impacts our life, then that needs to change, or we're destined to keep repeating the same mistakes, and giving away our power.   Taking responsibility for our actions and choices is a powerful and crucial step towards personal growth and well-being.  ------------- If you're ready to change your life, then check out my new course Transformation 28 - where we take 28 days to work together and transform your mindset and your life. Ep 23 - Managing Your Mind
2023/10/12
If there's one thing I've learned in my life, it's that managing your thoughts is the ultimate game-changer for life, for business, for relationships…  Seriously, it's like having the control panel of your mind right there in your hands.   Because here's the truth: if you're not actively taking charge of your thoughts, then they are taking charge of you. And let me tell you, that's a slippery slope to feeling fed up, out of control and disconnected from the life that you truly desire.  Picture this: every thought you entertain is like a seed you plant in the garden of your mind. And those thoughts? They determine what grows in your life.   It's a simple equation: our thoughts shape our reality. They mould who you are, what you do, and what you can achieve, and they also control how you feel. So, in the words of Henry Ford: whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right.  But here's the kicker: most of us let our thoughts run wild on autopilot, and guess what? The default setting tends to be negative. Trust me, I've been there - in my 20s, I had no clue about the power of managing my thoughts. It was like being caught in a whirlwind, with thoughts just happening to me, leaving me feeling lost and unfulfilled.   Goals? I didn't even know what they were at that time. But let me tell you,  all of that changed when I learnt about the tremendous power of managing your thoughts.  Nowadays, my conscious mind is on a mission of optimism and productivity. I've got a toolbox full of affirmations, visualisations, and positive thoughts that I use every single day. It's not always smooth sailing, though. Random thoughts still pop into my head, and I'm sure you can relate.   ------------- If you're ready to change your life, then check out my new course Transformation 28 - where we take 28 days to work together and transform your mindset and your life. Ep 22 - The Discipline Identity
2023/10/03
Woody Allen said, "The only thing standing between greatness and me, is me."  We all have excuses - in fact I am the queen of excuses.  Didn't go to the gym? I needed the lie in.  Didn't do that networking event? I had to stay in and catch up on some programs.   Ate too much? I was 'treating myself' (for the 6th day this week)     Forget about motivation- there is only one thing that is going to get you to your goals and that's discipline.     Contrary to popular opinion: Discipline is in fact freedom.     In the words of Jim Rohn "Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments."     The best version of you is the disciplined version of you, it's the version that does the things you don't feel like doing regardless of how you feel in the moment.      Discipline doesn't hit snooze, discipline is never too tired, discipline doesn't skip workouts, discipline measures progress, discipline shows up, discipline keeps its commitments, discipline is persistent and unbeatable.     When we hear the word 'discipline' it may conjure up images of soldiers and drill sergeants, many people mistakenly think that discipline is an unyielding force that crushes spontaneity or drains the joy out of life.   But in reality, it's more like an empowering compass that guides us towards our aspirations.      Discipline allows us to shape our days intentionally. It's not about rigidly adhering to a set of rules; rather, it's a tool that helps us make conscious choices that are aligned with our goals.   ------------- If you're ready to change your life, then check out my new course Transformation 28 - where we take 28 days to work together and transform your mindset and your life. Ep 21 - The Comfort Zone Fallacy
2023/09/04
It's funny how we often wrap ourselves in the warm, cozy blanket of our comfort zones, believing that it's our safe haven. But what if I told you that what you perceive as a comfort zone is actually just a cunning mirage and doesn't really exist?    What am I talking about? Well, I've been banging on about how we must get out of our 'comfort zones' for years.     Yes, my friends, the so-called "comfort zone" is nothing more than an attachment to familiarity that's keeping us stuck.      When I was 14 I went into the first year of my GCSEs - General Certificate of Secondary Education - these are 2 year courses in the UK that all school kids do between the ages of 14 and 16. You have to do mandatory subjects like English, Maths, Science, etc.      I remember walking into my favourite Biology teachers class and she said something that blew my mind, she said: "I want you to forget everything we've taught you up until now, that was all a lie".      WHAT? Our teachers had been lying?      Not quite. Our teacher went on to explain that basically they had over simplified their teachings until now, and that we needed to forget all of that because they were going to give us the 'warts and all' version.       ---------- If you're ready to change your life, then check out my new course Transformation 28 - where we take 28 days to work together and transform your mindset and your life. Ep 20 - 2 Years Alcohol Free
2023/08/30
On August 21 2021 - 2 years ago at the age of 40 - I stopped drinking.  I didn't put a time limit on it like I had done in the past, I literally just said to myself, "let's see what's possible".   In today's episode I talk about my journey to giving up alcohol and how it took my a few years of the odd week and the odd month off the booze here and there and I also talk about how you don't have to hit rock bottom before you decide to stop.    I discuss how perimenopause and HRT affected my efforts and I also tell you how two outstanding questions can change your life.   ------------- If you're ready to change your life, then check out my new course Transformation 28 - where we take 28 days to work together and transform your mindset and your life. Ep 19 - Failing to Win
2023/08/21
It's great to get out of your comfort zone, but there are occasions when we get this feeling and this experience of discomfort, and we have no idea of the impact that it will have later in our lives.  The first time I ever went abroad, was when I was 18 and it was just 4 hours from the UK and I was with 21 friends, but I felt hugely homesick.  At that moment, I was adamant that I did not like going abroad.   It turns out that I was wrong - I was so wrong in fact that I now live on the other side of the world.  Feelings of discomfort can lead us to mistakenly think that we don't like something, when in fact, it is the start of a fantastic adventure!  ---------- If you're ready to change your life, then check out my new course Transformation 28 - where we take 28 days to work together and transform your mindset and your life.
