In todays episode, Fabian talked to Michelle Müntefering. She is the Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany and member of the German Bundestag. Together they took a cultural perspective on international development, and talked about how imperial ways of thinking and patriarchal power relations impact our view on development and foreign policy, as well as how the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted the work at the federal foreign office, a job which usually involves a lot of travelling.

In today's episode, Fabian talked to Peter Ruhenstroth-Bauer. He is director of the UNO Flüchtlingshilfe, the German partner of the UNHCR. We talked about the uncertainties many refugees face amidst the Covid-19 pandemic and what keeps us awake at night.

Today's episode is a special insight into the Warwick Symposium for International Development, which took place online in the last week of spring term at the University of Warwick. In today's episode, Junaid talked to Hamna Ishaq. She is a graduate of the London School of Economics. She has been working in the development sector for the past 5 years as a monitoring and evaluation specialist. She has worked with donors like USAID and UNICEF and led projects in Pakistan as well as in Uganda, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.

In this episode, Dana talked to Dr. Edward Brown. He is Senior Director at the African Center for Economic Transformation in Ghana which is a think tank that produces research and provides policy advice to African countries promoting a concept of “growth with DEPTH” (Diversification, Export competitiveness, Productivity increases, Technological upgrading, Human well-being). In this episode Fabian talked to Dr. Annette Massmann. She is director of the Future Foundation for Development at the GLS Bank in Germany. We discussed her projects in Latin America, Africa and South Asia, a sustainable and inclusive approach to development, the philosophy of money, as well as the implications of the Covid-19 pandemic.

She is professor in the department of Politics and International Studies at the University of Warwick, the Director of Warwick Interdisciplinary Research Centre for International Development, and our module leader.
