We've Figured it Out! (Part 2)
2023/05/07
If you open up instagram right now, most representations of wealth are going to look pretty strikingly similar. It feels as though financial influencers are plenty and advice on how to make $100,000 in a month as a 21 year old are absolutely littering the 'for you page'. How, then, do you come to figure out what kind of lifestyle you ought to live (and mindset you should live by) if you want to successfully create and manage wealth without looking like an overly obsessed finance-bro or sounding like a loopy live-laugh-love gal who insist budgets are the be all and end all? In this episode of Fourth Speaker, David & Emma deliver the final segment of Life Skills Day and give personal accounts into their changing relationships with wealth creation, the financial tools and strategies they've had to (unwillingly) drop over time, and how their financial goals have changed since their early 20s. We've figured it out!
2022/10/07
It's come full circle folks. It's been nearly two years since we  launched our very first episode which talked about how to figure out what to do with your life after high school, and how you can go about triangulating it. Now, at the ripe old age of 25 and 26, after two years of lockdowns and pandemics, and incredible success in our professional and personal lives, let us read you our definitive, be all and end all, guide on how to figure life out yourself. We talk about the hard numbers you need to stick by at university and in your career to make sure you don't teeter over the edge, what dog breeds we'd be, and how not to lose your mind when you decide to be self employed.

Maybe it’s You. Maybe it’s Them
2021/10/24
Do people really “drift”? Is losing friends a sign of maturation? Can our values change? To celebrate the end of what will hopefully be our final lockdown in Sydney, episode six of Fourth Speaker is going to be a little lighter on the ears. We spend some time revisiting some experiences with some friendships from our past and reassess a few of the things we’ve noticed, now in hindsight. This one’s juicy!

Tale of Two Sydneys
2021/08/31
Sydney's ‘Latte Line has long been discussed in the arts/education scene to describe the inequalities that exist in the distribution of blue and white collar jobs in Sydney. David and Emma dig deep in this one and answer some pretty confronting questions about the social implications behind choosing to go to school outside of 'the area', and also discuss the concept of deficit teaching especially in the age of lockdown and COVID-19 (Delta).

Money Makes the Model-Gay
2021/05/20
What do Asami (Avatar: Legend of Korra), Nigel (Devil Wears Prada) and Oliver T’sien (Crazy Rich Asians) have in common? Money and, of course, their LGBTQIA status. In this episode of Fourth Speaker, David and Emma draw on their own experiences to interrogate new ideas of what it means to be the ‘model-gay’; unpack ideas on how LGBTQIA youths conceptualise their identities; discuss the role of money in protecting these identities from filial, societal and cultural rip currents; and attempt to befuddle one another using guerrilla-style questioning.

The Mutations of FOMO
2021/04/24
FOMO. It's well understood but not discussed enough. On this new episode, we talk about how the feeling of Fear-of-Missing-Out (FOMO) has evolved over the years thanks to social media, and how it has impacted a new generation of high school students. We dive into our own personal experiences with FOMO and discuss solutions on how to cope with FOMO. Grab a coffee and maybe a napkin for this one because we're honestly just exposing each other.

Should I Heart Uni?
2021/04/03
There's a lot of noise that goes into discussions about what makes a "prestigious" and not so prestigious university, even more so when it comes to degrees. David and Emma give their take on this age old phenomenon and share war stories about choosing art degrees as first generation Asian Australians.
