The Lines Of Parenthood
2026/08/23
• 1. Boundaries protect the promise The promise given over Samson did not arrive without limits. God’s gifts carry a holy shape, and the boundary line keeps the promise from being handled like common ground. A home that keeps the same reply, even after pressure comes, teaches children that consecration is not confusion, but clarity. [04:05] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jn_P075h_B4&t=245s) • 2. Compromise accelerates hidden destruction The honey in the dead lion shows how compromise can feel sweet while carrying death in it. Samson did not fall all at once in Delilah’s lap; the line had already been shifting before the final cut came. A small surrender can become gasoline on the fire that a family was trying to put out. [08:33] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jn_P075h_B4&t=513s) • 3. The secret place reveals hidden places The hidden place can look fine on the outside while something raw, divided, or dangerous remains underneath. The secret place is where God gives light enough to turn the cake over and expose what still needs His fire. Accountability without prayer can become control, but prayer without accountability can leave deception untouched. [14:34] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jn_P075h_B4&t=874s)
What Every Child Needs
2026/08/16
Hebrews 11 starts Moses’ story before Moses ever makes a decision. The text says, “By faith, Moses’ parents hid him,” not by fear, not by panic, but by faith. Moses’ parents, Jochebed and Amram, saw that he was “no ordinary child,” and their faith protected him from the king’s edict before Moses ever had faith for himself. Their ceiling became his floor, and the faith that hid him as a baby became the faith that later made him refuse Egypt, choose disgrace with God’s people, and look ahead to his reward. Faith-filled parenting sees children differently. Moses did not look special to everybody else, and he even had struggles, including trouble speaking. But his parents saw by faith what culture could not see. That same child who looks precious as a newborn still has to be seen by faith when behavior gets hard, when attitudes rise up, and when teenage years bring resistance. The call is not to ignore correction, but to speak life over purpose while still addressing the behavior. The Nile becomes the picture of the world around the next generation. Moses’ parents did not deny that the Nile existed, and they did not pretend Pharaoh’s edict was not real. They put Moses in the same Nile where other children were being destroyed, but they built him an ark. That basket was protection, not fear. That ark says not everyone deserves access to a child, and parents have wisdom that children do not yet have. Decisions about friends, phones, school, church, and environment are not control when they are rooted in faith. They are ark-building.
Listen To Him
2026/08/09
Exodus 28 and 39 put the high priest in garments that were not somebody’s good idea. The repeated line, “as the Lord commanded,” keeps saying that God gave explicit instruction because every thread, stone, color, and place pointed to Jesus. The blue, purple, scarlet, fine linen, and gold spoke of humanity and deity together, and the same colors at the tabernacle door pointed to Christ as the way in. Jesus fulfilled the priest and the prophet. He did not abolish it. He fulfilled it. The shoulder stones showed the high priest carrying Israel before God. Six names sat on one shoulder, six names sat on the other, and those names were not decoration. The shoulder is the place of strength, the place where weight gets carried. Every time the high priest went toward the altar of incense, the people’s names went with him. Jesus now carries His people before the Father, and His intercession is not weak, distant, or occasional. Romans 8 and Hebrews 7 say He lives to make intercession, and He saves to the uttermost, even to the extreme. John 10 and Luke 15 show the same picture through the Good Shepherd. Jesus knows His sheep, and His sheep know His voice. When one sheep wanders, the Shepherd does not shrug and say ninety nine is good enough. He goes after the one, calls it, finds it, and lays it on His shoulders rejoicing. The rod and staff may comfort through correction, and the Shepherd may allow the judgment of disobedience, but He also nurtures, heals, and brings the sheep back closer than before.
Becoming A Warrior
2026/08/02
Psalm 128 opens with a blessed house, a happy house, where the fear of the Lord means the knowledge of the Lord and a life that walks in His ways. The text puts children “like olive plants all around your table,” and that picture slows everything down. The olive tree can grow in rocky soil, desert soil, hard soil, but it does not produce quick fruit. The olive plant takes years before fruit shows up, and even then the first fruit is bitter, yet a properly planted tree can live for 20 generations.
You Have The Advantage
2026/07/26
The advantage comes first as a declaration that God’s people already know, but still need affirmed in the Word: if God is for His people, nothing standing against them has the final word. David’s charge to Solomon in 1 Kings 2 sets the whole thing up, because David is at the end of his life and Solomon is stepping into a throne, a destiny, and a calling. David does not tell Solomon to chase applause, build a name, or impress the kingdom. David tells him to take courage, be a man, and observe the requirements of the Lord.
Testing And Teaching
2026/07/19
Judges 2 and 3 show Israel in the promised land, but not with every enemy cleaned out. God says He will no longer drive out the nations Joshua left, because through them He will “test Israel” and teach the generations “to know war.” God lets some things stay in the land, not because He forgot, not because He failed, but because obedience has to be tested where trouble still lives. Joshua is the book where the talking stops and the taking starts. The land gets entered, the promise gets possessed, but the inhabitants do not all get removed. God leaves the Philistines, the Canaanites, the Hittites, and the other “ites” as pictures of fleshly, worldly, and satanic attacks that still come against the people of God. The Philistines picture the flesh, that old self that loves to wallow. The flesh wallows in self pity, self deprecation, self importance, self indulgence, and self pleasure. The flesh threatens, shouts, struts, begs, plots, and sobs, whatever keeps itself alive. The Holy Spirit pulls the mask off that sickly face and says, “Man, you can’t be that way.” The born again believer is not a remodeled version of the old person. God has made a new creation, “something like you that’s never ever existed before.” The Canaanites picture worldliness, the merchant spirit that wants to cut a deal and stay close to whatever profits. The worldly heart can even come to church asking what it can get out of it, looking religious while still bargaining with the world. God leaves that tension to test whether obedience is real or just performance. The Hittites picture fear, the “sons of terror” that move in close and try to shut mouths. Fear says, “Don’t testify. Don’t praise. Don’t speak the Word.” Testimony throws rocks at the enemy like David hit Goliath, but the Word takes the sword and removes his head, his authority. Praise declares, “It is finished,” not as retreat, but as the sound of the enemy on the run. The battleground has shifted from gathered fields to the mind, but the fight is still real. The big bad wolf does not create the weak house, he reveals it. The straw house and stick house fall because they were rushed, but the brick house stands because somebody took the time, brick by brick. God allows the wolf to come knocking so the house can reveal what has really been built. Jesus never leaves His people alone in the test. The Holy Spirit stays present while God teaches, tests, watches, and gives enough room to grow. God may leave some “ites” in the land, but He is still looking, still helping, and still making sure His people can make it through.
Liars And Lions
2026/07/12
First Kings 13 stands up and says obedience is not optional. Jeroboam lifts his hand at a pagan altar, and God sends a man from Judah with a laser‑specific word, naming Josiah three centuries early. The altar splits, the ashes pour out, the king’s arm withers and then is healed at prayer. The sign and the mercy both land. Then God’s terms land too: do not eat, do not drink, do not go back the same way. The young prophet honors that word… until he doesn’t. An old prophet rides out, looks credible, sounds spiritual, and lies. “An angel spoke to me,” he says. The young prophet trades the word he heard for the word he was told. He eats, he drinks, and the very mouth that deceived him pronounces judgment. On the road home a lion meets him. The lion does not eat him. The donkey is not touched. Lion, body, donkey just stand there like a billboard. That scene isn’t a random attack. It is a sign. In a world of liars and lions, only the word of God can be trusted. Obedience speaks like this: God’s commands are not suggestions, partial obedience is still disobedience, and no later “revelation” ever overwrites what God already said. Confirmation can come through people, but revelation comes from God. The church loves performers who can hit the script, but God asks for sons and daughters who submit. Gygas’ ring shows why performance fools people. Give a man invisibility and the hidden self steps out. Social constraints make people look good. Only obedience makes people true. Awakening begins where the foundations of sin get broken and a new beginning of obedience takes root. That call lands on the church first. Behind every lie sits a lion, and disobedience still carries consequences. Grace spares a life, but disobedience can still kill a calling, a dream, a future. God means what he says and says what he means. So where does a life of obedience come from? Not from hyped passion. Passion flows from a sightline. Moses prays, “Please show me Your glory.” Isaiah sees the Lord high and lifted up, the fire touches his lips, and only then does “Here am I, send me” come out of his mouth. The Greeks ask for one thing, “Sir, we would see Jesus.” Mary sits at his feet and hears his word. People cannot obey whom they do not know. See him, and obedience stops being performance. Do it in the secret place, and the Father will reward openly.
