Light in Perilous Times — 2 Timothy 3 · Living in the Light Pt 3
2026/10/05
Difficult times are coming, and Scripture told us so. In week 3 of Living in the Light, Pastor Benny Ferguson opens 2 Timothy 3:1-5 and Matthew 24:3-8 and three truths for living in the light in perilous times: darkness was predicted, discernment must increase, and hope must shine brighter.
The purpose of biblical prophecy isn't to make us experts about the future but to make us faithful in the present. God didn't reveal these things to scare us. He revealed them to prepare us. So we don't deny the darkness and we don't fear it: we prepare for the day instead of predicting it, and we shine.
“Not everything that sounds spiritual is spiritual. Not everything that is dressed up to look like truth actually is truth.”

Children of the Light — Ephesians 5:8-10 · Living in the Light Pt 2
2026/09/27
You were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. In week 2 of Living in the Light, Pastor Benny Ferguson opens Ephesians 5:8-10 and 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 and three marks of a child of the light: remember who you are, reflect the family resemblance, and remain ready.
Jesus doesn't simply change where we go when we die. He changes who we are while we live. And because of what He has done, we're already accepted: we don't behave to become, we behave because we have become.
“The world doesn't need Christians who are louder. It needs Christians who are brighter.”

Passionate Obedience — 1 Samuel 15:22 · Calvary Midweek
2026/09/24
What are you passionate about? More to the point, what is God passionate about? On a Wednesday night at Calvary, Pastor Len Burdick opens 1 Samuel 15, where King Saul did most of what God asked, kept the best for himself, and called it worship. God's answer still stands: to obey is better than sacrifice.
Four truths carry the message: God wants our obedience more than what we want to do for Him; He is looking for wholehearted obedience, not delayed, selective or partial; obedience is an expression of love; and obedience flows from relationship.
“He loves our songs, but He looks for our surrender. He loves our praises, but He looks for our practices. He loves our words, but He looks for our willingness.”

God Is Light — 1 John 1:5-7 · Living in the Light Pt 1 of 6
2026/09/21
Before we can learn to live in the light, we have to know the One who is light. In the first message of our new six-week series Living in the Light, Pastor Benny Ferguson opens 1 John 1:5-7 and the three truths everything else in the series will rest on: God sees what we cannot, God reveals what we need, and God calls us to walk in the light.
Our eyes take in only a sliver of the light that is really there. The same is true spiritually — there is far more going on than we can see. The question isn't whether an unseen reality exists. The question is whether we will trust the God who sees all of it.
“Reality is not determined by what we see. Reality is determined by what God sees.”

Set Free Part 11: In Step with the Spirit | Galatians 5:16-26
2026/09/06
There is a war going on inside every one of us. Paul names it plainly in Galatians 5: the flesh and the Spirit want opposite things, and starting to follow Jesus doesn't make that battle disappear.
In Part 11 of our Set Free series, Pastor Kelli Ferguson walks through the conflict, the works of the flesh, and the fruit the Holy Spirit grows in a life lived close to Jesus - then shows what it actually looks like to keep in step with Him, one moment-by-moment choice at a time.
"Fruit is the character of your life being shaped by the nearness of Christ."

Interview with Dr. Jon Davis | BROTHERHOOD
2026/08/29
What does it mean to fight the good fight? In this powerful conversation, Dr. Jon Davis shares his incredible journey from practicing chiropractor and ringside doctor for world-class boxers to discovering the importance of putting God first. He opens up about some of the darkest punches life has thrown at him, including the loss of his mother and the end of his marriage, and how a simple question from his young son led him back to church. Drawing from more than 40 years around the boxing ring, Dr. Jon shares what he's learned about pain, adversity, defense, spiritual strength, and the importance of having God in your corner. His challenge is simple: put on the full armor of God, stay grounded in His Word, and never give up. Fight the good fight!
Set Free Part 9: Stand Firm | Benny Ferguson | 8/23/26
2026/08/27
In Galatians 5, Pastor Benny challenges us to stand firm in the freedom Christ has purchased for us. Salvation is not earned through performance, religious rituals, or trying harder. It is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. As we stand firm in what Christ has done, run well by guarding the voices that influence us, and love well by allowing grace to shape the way we live, we discover what true freedom looks like. Christ has finished the work, and our response is to trust Him, follow Him, and let His grace transform us.

Set Free Part 8: From Bondage to Belonging | Raj Pillai | 8/16/26
2026/08/19
In Part 8 of our Galatians series, Pastor Raj reminds us that through Jesus, we have moved from bondage to belonging. Walking through Galatians 4, we see that God did not simply forgive us, but adopted us as His children and gave us full access to Him as our Father. We do not obey to earn His love or approval; we obey because we already belong to Him. Be encouraged to leave behind performance, guilt, and shame and embrace the freedom, identity, and security that come from knowing you are God's child.

Fully Devoted Part 2 | Wes Newell | MIDWEEK 8/12/26
2026/08/16
In Fully Devoted Part 2, Pastor Wes challenges us to examine where we place our trust and whether our hearts are completely devoted to God. Through the story of King Asa, we are reminded of the danger of divided loyalty and the importance of relying fully on the Lord rather than looking to other things for security. Take time to examine your heart, surrender anything that has taken first place above Jesus, and choose to trust Him completely.Scriptures:Proverbs 3:5-62 Chronicles 16:1-131 Samuel 2:30Revelation 3:14-222 Corinthians 13:5Psalm 139:23-24Matthew 6:24Our Links:calvarymd.comcalvarymd.com/givefacebook.com/calvaryfrederick
Set Free Part 7: Performance vs Promise | Kelli Ferguson | 8.9.26
2026/08/11
In part 7 of our Set Free series, Pastor Kelli explores the difference between living by performance and living by God's promise. Through Paul's teaching in Galatians, we are reminded that salvation and our identity as God's children come through grace and faith in Jesus, not through striving, perfection, or rule-keeping. Pastor Kelli encourages us to stop trying to earn what Jesus has already given us and to trust God's promises, timing, and power. Watch and be encouraged to live in the freedom of knowing you are already loved, accepted, and chosen by God.Scriptures:Galatians 3:15-19Galatians 3:26-29Galatians 4:21-31Genesis 12:1-3Genesis 16:1-16Genesis 17:15-21Genesis 21:1-21Isaiah 54:1Our Links:calvarymd.comcalvarymd.com/givefacebook.com/calvaryfrederick
Fully Devoted | Benny Ferguson | MIDWEEK 8/5/26
2026/08/11
In this message, Pastor Benny challenges us to examine what has taken first place in our hearts and whether we are truly fully devoted to Jesus. Through David’s declaration in Psalm 27, the examples of Mary and Martha, the rich young ruler, and the call to seek God above all else, we are reminded that even good things can become distractions when they crowd out the one thing that matters most. As we enter 21 Days of Prayer, we are encouraged to surrender every competing desire, draw near to Jesus, and make Him first in our hearts, thoughts, and lives.

Set Free Part 6: Started by the Spirit | Benny Ferguson | 8/2/26
2026/08/03
What begins by faith must continue by faith. In this message from Galatians 3:1-14, Pastor Benny reminds us that we were never meant to strive for God's acceptance. The same grace that saves us is the grace that sustains us. Discover why the law reveals our need for Jesus, how Christ became the curse for us on the cross, and why true freedom is found not in what we do, but in what He has already done.
