This week, host Kathy speaks with Lexi Lombara, a co-founder of Colby Davis of Boston, a jewelry brand, and a project manager in the Stys Hospitality Initiative. Lombara graduated from BC with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, Economics, and Business Management in 2021. While at BC, she was a part of the Women in Business Mentor Program. Colby Davis of Boston was co-founded in 2014 by Lombara, her sister, and mom, curating a collection that is 100% made in the USA and of high-quality craftsmanship. This week, host Kathy speaks with Bella Lora, president of F.I.S.T.S and LSEHD ’25. Established in 1999, Females Incorporating Sisterhood Through Step (F.I.S.T.S) is BC’s all-women step team, founded on the pillars of sisterhood, service, and step. Last year, the group won first place at ALC Showdown and chose to donate their winnings to Strong Women, Strong Girls, a charity with a mission of “empowering girls to imagine a broader future through a curriculum grounded on women role models delivered by college women mentors, who are themselves mentored by professional women.” Tune in to learn more about Bella's journey as a student leader, the story and legacy of F.I.S.T.S., and how the team is preparing to defend its crown at this year’s ALC Showdown Check back next week for new episodes!

This week, Kathy and Liam speak to Cormac Delaney, Michael McKane, Matthew Baldari, Owen Stannard, and Charlie Schulz, otherwise known as the band "Caltha". The band previously performed under the name Obstacle Monkey when they won the 2024 BC’s Best, taking them to open for Del Water Gap at 2024 Modstock. Caltha continued to perform at various house shows and bars around the Boston College area. Recently, Caltha also played a benefit concert in late February, in conjunction with EcoPledge of BC to raise money for LA wildfire victims. The band is dropping a new album titled Chicken Liver Testimony on April 11th. Tune in to hear about the bands origins, upcoming projects, and advice for BC musicians! This week, host Kathy speaks to Richard Kearney, an Irish philosopher and public intellectual known for his work in contemporary continental philosophy. He holds the Charles Seelig Professorship in Philosophy at Boston College and has been a visiting professor at institutions such as University College Dublin, the Sorbonne, the University of Nice, and the Australian Catholic University. A prolific writer, Kearney has authored over two dozen books on European philosophy and literature, including novels and poetry, and has collaborated on more than 20 edited volumes. Beyond academia, he has contributed to cultural discourse through television and radio, hosting multiple series on philosophy and society for Irish and British audiences. Kearney is actively engaged in public relations and has participated in drafting key proposals for the peace agreement in Northern Ireland. Currently, Kearney leads the Guestbook Project, an initiative dedicated to fostering dialogue and hospitality across cultures. Tune in to learn more about Kearney's insights on the role of philosophy in promoting peace and understanding, and discover how his work is helping to create spaces for meaningful dialogue in our increasingly divided world.

This week, host Liam speaks with Theresa S. Betancourt, the Salem Professor in Global Practice at Boston College’s School of Social Work. Dr. Betancourt is a leading expert in child development, trauma, and global mental health. She has spent over two decades researching the long-term effects of war, displacement, and adversity on children and families. Her groundbreaking work includes a 23-year old study on former child soldiers in Sierra Leone, which she explores in her book Shadows into Light: A Generation of Former Child Soldiers Comes of Age. Now at BC, she continues her mission of translating research into real-world interventions, working with vulnerable populations around the world. This week, hosts Kathy and Liam speak with Esther Udoakang and Maame Twum-Barima, presidents of Boston College’s African Student Organization. Founded in 1995, ASO embraces the motto “Culture, Unity, and Family.” They are dedicated to sharing the diversity of Africa's cultures with the Boston College community. Both seniors, Esther is a nursing major, while Maame is majoring in sociology on the pre-med track. This week, hosts Kathy and Liam speak with Glenn Gaudette, a biomedical engineer and the inaugural chair of Boston College’s Engineering Department. His work developing plants as scaffolds for heart regeneration has been featured in National Geographic, CBS, and Popular Science. He was also interviewed on the BBC, as well as appearing on Bill Nye Saves the World (on Netflix). He was awarded the 2015 Faculty Member of the Year by the Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network. Gaudette is now a professor at Boston College’s Engineering Department, serving as the John W. Kozarich Chair of the Department of Engineering.
