In October of 1938, Jimmy's grandfather Thomas walked around the back corner of the barn before daylight and found something eating out of the crushed cane pile behind the sorghum mill. When he described it at breakfast, his father Will asked about the color across its shoulders and the way its left foot traveled, and then told him which one it was. The family had called it the boy since it was young, and nobody on the place had seen it in more than 10 years. Part Three of Jimmy's account covers the years when the north Georgia farm passed from Will to Thomas. Through the late 1930s and early 1940s, Thomas met the boy again and again, at the apple stump, at the top field, and across thirty feet of water at the spring branch, and it never once let him close the distance. In those same years he learned to tell the animals on the mountain apart by build, color, face, and the way each one walked, and he later taught that to his son and to Jimmy. In 1943 Thomas took his family to Marietta for war work at the Bell bomber plant, and Will stayed on the land alone. When Thomas came home in the fall of 1945, the fences were down, the orchard was broken up, and his father told him it wasn't like it had been. A year later, Thomas walked in on two of them feeding in the upper hollow, and one of them followed him half a mile down the mountain, breaking timber and throwing rocks. Brian welcomes Latriana Brown, to share two unusual experiences from her childhood in Florida.Lee says she grew up around animal-language research in the 1970s, spending years listening to, studying, and imitating animal calls. During a camping trip near Silver Springs and the Ocala National Forest, that curiosity led to an encounter she has never forgotten. After practicing different calls outside the family camper, Lee noticed a small hand press against the window screen. Believing it belonged to a juvenile Skunk Ape, she reached out and touched it. The young creature continued returning to the window as if it wanted to play. But when Lee's mother saw what was happening and screamed, the encounter changed instantly. Lee says the juvenile began shaking the camper and trying the door, forcing the family to hide inside the tiny bathroom. Then something even larger arrived.Lee describes what she believes was the juvenile's mother appearing outside, scolding the younger creature before physically subduing it and dragging it back into the darkness. When the family later inspected the camper, Lee says they found hair and blood caught on the exterior. Lee also recounts a very different childhood experience involving a Seminole chief who took her to meet a mysterious man with an overpowering, dirty, almost canine odor. The man refused to make eye contact, behaved strangely, and left Lee with the unsettling impression that there was somehow "more than one spirit" inside him. She was told the man had committed horrific acts and was spiritually damned. For Lee, the encounter became part of a much larger question about Native traditions, shapeshifters, and whether some of the strange beings reported in the wilderness may be something far more complicated than undiscovered animals. In January of 1918, Will and Ada left their 80-acre mountain property for one night to attend a wedding in the valley, and when they came back there were two sets of tracks in fresh snow leading from the tree line straight to their cabin, a handprint on the window glass higher than Will could reach, and the shed door standing open. Will wrote one sentence about it on the inside cover of his first notebook, and nobody in his family left that house empty overnight again for the next 23 years. Part two of Jimmy's story covers the 20 years that followed, from 1918 through the mid-1930s, and it's the stretch where the family stopped finding things out and started learning how to live with what they knew. Jimmy's grandfather Thomas, who was 14 when the snow came, grows up on the mountain, sees a young Sasquatch looking around a chestnut tree at the upper spring, follows its tracks one winter morning and finds out it's been walking beside him the whole time, and watches his father confront it at the chicken coop by lantern light before something in the tree line puts a stop to that. He marries a girl from the valley, builds the house Jimmy still lives in, and raises Jimmy's father in it.In November of 1924, Will writes out seven rules on a sheet of lined paper and hands them to his son. Don't follow them. Don't shoot unless it's your life. Don't go near the young ones. Don't leave food near the house. Don't bring strangers up here looking for them. Don't go past the upper spring after dark. If the woods go quiet, leave. That sheet hangs in a frame in Jimmy's hallway today. The Depression brings hungry men with rifles into the woods, a brother-in-law loses a hunting dog on the north ridge and never asks what happened to it, and a man from the valley named Lester spends a night sitting against a tree with something standing 40 feet off in the dark, and comes down at daylight without his rifle. Will tells him it was a bear. In May of 1934, Will and Thomas find a torn-up gravel bar along the creek with hair, blood, and a drag mark leading into the rocks, and for four nights the mountain fills with a low pulsing call nobody in the family had heard before. It ends in October of 1936, with Thomas coming down from the upper spring at dusk and finding his father standing at the creek bank without his rifle, looking across the water at the enormous gray-headed male on the far bank, and understanding for the first time how many evenings his father had been doing exactly that.  Part three begins with Will's death in the fall of 1941. n January of 1918, Will and Ada left their 80-acre mountain property for one night to attend a wedding in the valley, and when they came back there were two sets of tracks in fresh snow leading from the tree line straight to their cabin, a handprint on the window glass higher than Will could reach, and the shed door standing open. Will wrote one sentence about it on the inside cover of his first notebook, and nobody in his family left that house empty overnight again for the next 23 years. Part two of Jimmy's story covers the 20 years that followed, from 1918 through the mid-1930s, and it's the stretch where the family stopped finding things out and started learning how to live with what they knew. Jimmy's grandfather Thomas, who was 14 when the snow came, grows up on the mountain, sees a young Sasquatch looking around a chestnut tree at the upper spring, follows its tracks one winter morning and finds out it's been walking beside him the whole time, and watches his father confront it at the chicken coop by lantern light before something in the tree line puts a stop to that. He marries a girl from the valley, builds the house Jimmy still lives in, and raises Jimmy's father in it.In November of 1924, Will writes out seven rules on a sheet of lined paper and hands them to his son. Don't follow them. Don't shoot unless it's your life. Don't go near the young ones. Don't leave food near the house. Don't bring strangers up here looking for them. Don't go past the upper spring after dark. If the woods go quiet, leave. That sheet hangs in a frame in Jimmy's hallway today. The Depression brings hungry men with rifles into the woods, a brother-in-law loses a hunting dog on the north ridge and never asks what happened to it, and a man from the valley named Lester spends a night sitting against a tree with something standing 40 feet off in the dark, and comes down at daylight without his rifle. Will tells him it was a bear. In May of 1934, Will and Thomas find a torn-up gravel bar along the creek with hair, blood, and a drag mark leading into the rocks, and for four nights the mountain fills with a low pulsing call nobody in the family had heard before. It ends in October of 1936, with Thomas coming down from the upper spring at dusk and finding his father standing at the creek bank without his rifle, looking across the water at the enormous gray-headed male on the far bank, and understanding for the first time how many evenings his father had been doing exactly that.  Part three begins with Will's death in the fall of 1941. The first takes us to western Alaska, where Iñupiaq couple Gus and Sophie head out on four-wheelers with their adult son and young niece to gather berries. Almost immediately, the niece senses something is wrong. Strange birdlike sounds begin coming from the brush, and then she spots it—a massive, dark-gray, wrinkled face staring at them from deep inside the alders. Moments later, the creature crashes away through the brush and unleashes a powerful whoop. The family decides to leave, but the encounter is only beginning.  Crossing the open tundra, they spot one figure moving low across the landscape. Then another enormous black humanoid appears near a distant tree line and begins moving in their direction.As the family reaches a creek, more whoops erupt around them. Gus fires warning shots from his .357 while Sophie raises her shotgun. Then a siren-like scream rolls across the tundra—a sound later heard by other people in the village. A neighbor warns them that what they encountered could be a bad omen. Even more unsettling, the niece claims she heard a voice inside her mind telling her to bring berries.Fred then begins another disturbing account from the Bristol Bay region along the Nushagak River. Brothers Douglas and Thomas are staying at a remote cabin with Doug's wife when they see a massive "hairy man" near the outhouse. Thomas fires his weapon, and the group scrambles to escape. But before they can leave, the creature reportedly hurls the outhouse toward them. Doug fires as the figure disappears into the wilderness in bizarre, frog-like leaps.Then another scream erupts nearby—louder and seemingly coming from something even closer. In this episode of Sasquatch Odyssey, Brian welcomes Rob from Idaho, whose journey into the world of Bigfoot began with skepticism and eventually led him into field research, BFRO expeditions, unexplained encounters, and questions he never expected to be asking. Rob shares how his perspective began to change after attending BFRO outings, where he encountered unusual evidence that included track casts, a thermal image of something apparently swaying between trees near Bunking Lake, and strange red orbs seen hovering above his vehicle. One of his most unsettling experiences came during a night at Loon Lake in Idaho’s Payette National Forest. Rob and a friend noticed a faint yellow light moving low to the ground before catching a brief glimpse of what appeared to be a tall, reddish figure. Soon afterward, a powerful vocalization resembling the famous “Ohio howl” echoed through the area for hours. As the night continued, both men were left with the disturbing feeling that something was following them through the forest. The conversation also explores other reported Idaho encounters, including sightings around Loon Lake, Priest Lake, Highway 12, and the Payette River Meanders, where witnesses in 2024 reported seeing two large upright figures in broad daylight. Other accounts involve screams, whistles, thrown rocks, unexplained tracks, and activity deep in remote wilderness. Rob also recounts a trip into the Sawtooth Mountains near Redfish Lake and the surrounding bench lakes, where he witnessed a pulsating ball of light, saw what he describes as a dark brown figure with green eyes near camp, and later heard a distinct whoop from the surrounding forest. The episode closes with a deeper discussion about one of the biggest divides in Bigfoot research: whether Sasquatch is simply an undiscovered flesh-and-blood primate, possibly connected to something like Gigantopithecus, or whether the stranger reports involving glowing eyes, orbs, portals, and other so-called “woo” phenomena suggest there may be more to the mystery. Rob also talks about his experience appearing on Finding Bigfoot and how years in the field transformed him from a skeptic into someone convinced that something unexplained is living in the forests of Idaho.
