In the United States, it's common for people giving birth in hospitals to experience a lack of consent and be denied the opportunity to play an active role in their birth experience. Black women are three to four times more likely to die of birth-related causes than white women. How did we get here, and what’s being done to address the underlying issues? In this episode–a continuation of Disparities in the Delivery Room part one, Demystifying Doulas–we’ll be joined by Joyce Abeng, MPH, who provides her expertise in the field of health policy and administration.
