Last year we recorded the audio for my birthday episode, about Pulp's 1995 opus Different Class. But the audio wasn't great. So we did it again this year! And luckily the album was just as fresh to our ears as it was last July! In a better world this would be the album people think of when they hear "Britpop".

Muse is one of the most popular rock acts of the 21st century, especially in the US. It wasn't always like this, however. Once upon a time, one of their early alums was kept from distribution in America for four years after the record company gave the band very tame constructive criticism. This was that album. Origin of Symmetry time, baby.

RIP to Sly Stone, a true genius in the world of R&B music. We recorded this about a month after his passing, and are particularly pleased with the final product. So without further ado, let's talk Stand!

A throwback to one of our earliest episodes! From June 2021, specifically. Mainly because it was taken down and Spotify didn't give me notice that it has some claims that needed to be appealed. But anyway, one of the worst albums ever released and we thoroughly enjoyed ripping it a new one and the same way we did not enjoy listening to it. It's the Sgt Pepper's Movie Soundtrack! Be very afraid.

Our next stop in Obscure Jangle Pop Month takes us to Australia, where in 1988 the band The Church found their biggest success with the psychedelic, hazy, and very cool record, Starfish! The music is great and the lyrics make little sense- and the interpretations found on SongMeanings didn't help matters. But we had still had fun with this one! Originally recorded May 19, 2025.

Obscure Jangle Pop Month begins with a Canadian band, a pretty darn good band with a pretty darn good album. And because it's pretty darn good, alt rock stations will never ever play it.
