Week 04 - Inductive Bible Study - The Scripture Practice - Ryan Rhoden
2026/09/27
Ryan Rhoden leads a practical workshop in inductive Bible study using Paul’s letter to Philemon. Building on SCOPE and the interpretive journey, he models how to observe a passage closely, understand its original setting, trace its central truth, and consider how to live it today.
Bible study is not about accumulating knowledge or doing someone else’s thinking for them. It is an invitation to know and love Jesus more deeply. Ryan encourages us to bring our questions, study prayerfully, and share what we discover with one another.
This week, choose a passage that has been resonating with you. Study it thoughtfully and prayerfully, then share what you are learning with someone else. As a community practice, pray one Psalm each morning, reading slowly and responding line by line.

Week 03 - The Interpretive Journey - The Scripture Practice - Ryan Rhoden
2026/09/20
Knowing Jesus doesn’t mean we’ve finished discovering who He is. This week, Ryan Rhoden invites us to approach Scripture with love, curiosity, and a willingness to be changed.
Building on the SCOPE practice, Ryan introduces a practical journey from understanding a passage in its original context to living out its truth today. Along the way, he explores why context brings depth to familiar verses and how study can lead us toward connection rather than pride or performance.
Choose a passage, bring your questions, and share what you’re learning with someone else. The goal is to know Jesus more and let that relationship shape everyday life.
Week 02 - SCOPE - The Scripture Practice - Ryan Rhoden
2026/09/13
This week, Ryan introduces the SCOPE practice for reading Scripture with a heart aimed at surrender.
SCOPE stands for Scripture, Context, Observation, Prayer, and Experience. We begin by reading slowly and prayerfully, then consider the original context and author’s intent. From there, we observe what the passage and the Holy Spirit are highlighting, turn it into prayer, and ask how we can live it out in our everyday lives.
Scripture is not meant to remain information on a page. It leads us to Jesus, the living Word, and forms us into people who look more like Him.
Week 01 - Meeting Jesus in Scripture - Ryan Rhoden
2026/09/06
What is your relationship with the Bible and what would it look like to meet Jesus there? As Living Waters begins the Scripture Practice, we invite you to read slowly, prayerfully, and with hearts open to surrender. Whether you bring curiosity, confidence, doubt, or painful experiences with Scripture, you can begin honestly with Jesus.Looking at Jesus in the temple, His temptation in the wilderness, and His conversation with the disciples on the road to Emmaus, we explore Scripture as a place of encounter and formation not simply information or a religious checklist. This week, begin with a short passage each day. Choose a consistent time and place if you can, and ask Jesus to meet you there.
Week 04 - All We Have Belongs to God - The Generosity Practice
2026/08/23
This week, John Eaton closes our Generosity Practice by exploring the truth that all we have belongs to God.Generosity is more than money. It includes our time, attention, abilities, relationships, forgiveness, possessions, and even ourselves. Looking at Acts 4, John shows us the early church living as stewards rather than owners—holding their resources with open hearts and open hands so that no one among them was in need.Having more than we need is not wrong. But abundance becomes good when it is entrusted to Jesus and stewarded according to His heart. Good stewardship means submitting what we have—and who we are—to the One who knows better than we do.This week, take inventory of one area of your life—money, time, your home, skills, influence, or even yourself. Ask, “Lord, how do You want me to steward what You’ve entrusted to me?” Then take one concrete step of generosity or sharing in that area.
Week 03: Watch Out For Greed - LWRV
2026/08/16
Ryan teaches from Jesus’ words about money, possessions, and the heart. Generosity is not about guilt, pressure, or religious obligation. It is about surrendering everything we have back to Jesus and learning to live with open hands.
This week’s practice: identify something you own that you do not need. Give it away, or sell it and give the money to someone in need or to a cause that serves the poor.
Week 02 - Generously Share Your Story Vulnerably - Aaron Hovivan
2026/08/09
This week in the Generosity Practice, Aaron Hovivian invites us to see generosity as more than giving money. Sometimes the most generous thing we can offer is our story — the honest, vulnerable places where Jesus met us in pain, shame, repentance, and healing.
Drawing from 2 Corinthians, Aaron reminds us that God comforts us in our trouble so we can comfort others with the comfort we have received. Our stories are not meant to stay hidden. They become gifts of hope for others who feel like their lives have gone sideways.
Practice this week: Share a piece of your story with at least one person. Be honest about both the hard parts and the places God has met you.
Week 01 - There Is More Joy in Giving Than Receiving - Gratitude Practice
2026/08/02
Generosity is more than giving money—it is a way of life that reflects our joyful and generous God.
In this message, we explore how the world forms us toward accumulation, comparison, and scarcity, while Jesus leads us toward trust, freedom, and open-handed living. Generosity breaks the hold of possessions and reminds us that our security comes from God, not what we own.
This week, practice one spontaneous act of generosity. Offer someone a gift, a meal, your time, or your resources—and do it freely and joyfully.
Week 04 - Encountering God - The Solitude Practice
2026/07/26
The practice of solitude ultimately leads us to one place: the presence of God.
In this message, Kim explores Jesus' rhythm of regularly withdrawing to be with the Father and shares how silence creates space for God to meet us in our deepest longings. More than finding answers or escaping the noise, solitude invites us into intimacy with the One who fully knows us and fully loves us.
As we finish this month of practicing solitude, may we learn to seek not just what God can give us, but God Himself.
Week 03 - Encountering Our Enemy - The Solitude Practice
2026/07/19
Solitude isn't just about finding a quiet place—it's about creating space for God to reveal what has been shaping our hearts.
In this message, Ryan explores how silence exposes the influence of the world, the flesh, and the devil while inviting us to encounter the transforming presence of God. Rather than running from the noise, we're invited to slow down, recognize the voices competing for our attention, and choose the better thing: sitting at the feet of Jesus.
As we continue practicing solitude together, may we become people who are less driven by distraction and more formed by the presence of Christ.
Week 02 - Encountering Ourselves - The Solitude Practice
2026/07/12
Solitude isn't about escaping the world—it's about honestly meeting God in the quiet.
In this message, Kate explores how slowing down allows us to notice our thoughts, emotions, wounds, and desires while inviting Jesus into every part of our lives. Instead of distracting ourselves or trying to fix what's broken, we're invited to trust the Great Physician, who already knows us completely and gently leads us toward healing.
As we continue practicing solitude together, may we become people who are less distracted, more present, and increasingly transformed by the presence of Jesus.
Week 01 - A Quiet Place - Solitude Practice
2026/07/05
What happens when we intentionally step away from the noise?
This week we begin exploring the practice of solitude through the story of Jacob's encounter with God and the example of Jesus, who regularly withdrew to quiet places to be with the Father. Solitude isn't about isolation or escape—it's about making space for God's presence to transform us so we can return to our families, our friendships, and our communities with renewed hearts.
As we begin this month's community practice, we're invited to slow down, let go of striving, and rediscover the quiet place where God reminds us who He is—and who we are.
Week 04 - To Stand with the Poor - Fasting Practice
2026/06/28
As we finish our month of fasting, Ryan returns to the life of Daniel to remind us that fasting is a lifelong rhythm of dependence on God—not merely a religious discipline. Daniel's story shows that heaven responds when God's people humble themselves in prayer, and Isaiah 58 reminds us that true fasting always produces compassion, generosity, and justice for those around us. This episode invites us to deepen our hunger for God while learning to stand with the poor through practical acts of love and generosity.
Week 02 - To Grow in Holiness - Fasting Practice
2026/06/14
Fasting is one of the most overlooked practices in the way of Jesus.
In this message, Kim explores how fasting helps us become aware of the desires that shape our lives and trains us to walk in step with the Holy Spirit. Through Galatians 5, Psalm 63, and Jesus' time in the wilderness, we discover that fasting is not about earning God's love or proving our devotion. It is about awakening our deeper hunger for God.
Together we explore:• Saying no to the flesh and yes to the Spirit• Why fasting exposes our deeper appetites• Jesus' example in the wilderness• Learning dependence on God• Growing in holiness through surrender
Our deepest hunger is not for what satisfies us temporarily.
Our deepest hunger is for God.
Week 01 - To Offer Ourselves to God - The Fasting Practice
2026/06/07
Fasting is one of the most powerful and neglected practices in the way of Jesus.
In this episode, we explore fasting as an act of surrender, a way of offering our bodies and desires to God, and a practice that awakens our deeper hunger for His presence.
Using the example of Daniel and the teaching of Jesus, we discover how fasting helps us:• Reorder our appetites• Slow down and pay attention• Turn hunger into prayer• Declare that God is enough• Offer ourselves more fully to Jesus
Every hunger pang becomes an invitation:
"Jesus, I offer myself to You again today."
This conversation is an invitation to rediscover fasting as a pathway into intimacy, dependence, and deeper life with God.
