Beginning of the year I started seeing a guy.  He seemed great.  Said all the right things.  Good in bed.  Fun to be around.   When he heard about my sexual assaults he became super protective and wanted to hurt anyone that caused me harm.  He was so proud of never sexually assaulting a woman or being physically abusive.  He had two daughters and seemed like a great dad.  I was a little concerned that he had two ex wife's but things don't always work out.   Then a month and a half into really seeing each other regularly he told me something terrible he did to me.  He told me via text message and then proceeded to call me "a f*****g bitch" and blame me for it twice even though the facts were clear it wasn't something I did.  He slut shamed me and just became extreme abusive in what he was saying to me.  Over the next week or so I told him repeatedly that I couldn't be with someone that handled serious conversations the way he had and that I did not deserve to be disparaged in such a way.  He continued to contact me for several months via text message that were extremely harassing to the point of threatening.  I even consult law enforcement to figure out next steps if it continued.  Luckily he has seemed to have stopped and I didn't have to go down that path. But it made me think about how often men only think they cause harm to others if it is physical.  This guy was so proud he would never hurt a woman.  But he hurt me.  He terrorized me.  At least 3 different times I asked him to stop contacting me in different ways.  I started watching the show "I am a Stalker" and all those men were the same way.  Saying they never would harm a woman yet that is all they did.  Completely unaware of the effects their actions have on women.  So I asked my dear friend Kristen Kozelsky to join for an episode to discuss this topic.  Sorry Chuck you didn't want an episode about you but well you got one. Back in 2019 when I was processing my trauma and had started going to therapy I also started doin Yin Yoga.  There was this amazing woman Liz Getman that taught some of the classes.  Immediately I felt safe with her.  She was so authentic.  So true to herself.  She didn't hide her messy truth.  We all have messy truths but most of us hide it, wear a mask, and our true selfs can't come through.  Watching her live in all her truth helped me to realize it was I did the same. Living in your truth and all its messiness can be hard because not everyone is going to be ok with that.  But once you do it for real you'll find out who truly likes you for you and who likes you for what they need from you.  Liz vrooms in for this episode and we talk about all of this and more.
