174 | Conversation w/ Zelda Speedrunner GoodGortho | Retro Video Game Podcast
2026/10/10
My Facebook Marketplace listings for Sharp retro LCD gaming monitors introduced me to GoodGortho, an Ocarina of Time speedrunner. We discuss strats and glitches, as well as the upcoming remake. There are no Playstation long box games on the SGW which sends me on a trek to my local retro video game store. The Atari 800XL console is coming in April 2027! Cassettes aren't dead and quite profitable on the Kitty Lunch Hour. https://www.twitch.tv/goodgortho
173 | Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door | Retro Video Game Podcast
2026/09/26
Itsame, Jackson and I don't like turn based RPGs OR Mario so why am I trying this one for the GameCube. After 10 hours, I think Super Paper Mario is a bit more my speed. Starting to horde games on Going Long My favorite game controller is on the SGW My midlife crisis has come to the Kitty Lunch Hour!
172 | Ico (Playstation 2) | Retro Video Game Podcast
2026/09/12
Coming back to Fumito Ueda's first game before SoTC, Ico. A puzzle platformer where less is more. Did I escort Yorda to safety? A couple of Nintendo Directs hit this week and my impressions therein. Still not a fan of this "new" OoT. Psyched for Metroid Ravenous and Kirby. My experience at Gate n Keep in North Carolina! Alundra variants on Auction Alert and King's Field goes for a pretty penny! Lanterns on the Kitty Lunch Hour!
171 | The Lost Vikings | Retro Video Game Podcast
2026/08/29
Finally, a requested episode on a puzzle platformer for the SNES and GBA. Another extended Stick It to the great Sony protest. Rare retro game controller and potty humor on Auction Alert.
170 | Road Rash (32-Bit) | Retro Video Game Podcast
2026/08/14
Grabbing some chains and flannel for this release from EA in 1994 for the 3D0, PS1 and Sega Saturn. While the graphics didn't age well, the Road Rash formula worked well on disc based 32 bit systems with FMV cutscenes and an alternative grunge soundtrack. NSFW rant on content creators and the FOMO they are creating for PS3 games. Lots of upcoming events in the Kitty Lunch Hour!
169 | Blazing Lazers w/Larry Mohrmann | Retro Video Game Podcast
2026/08/01
Returning to the shmup genre with a look at a shooter on the TG16. With me to discuss the the 1989 classic is Larry, formerly of the retro gamers Podcast and now cohost of What's in my Popcorn? Goodwill is resurfacing disks? Big convention news at the end of the podcast!
168 | Castlevania: Lament Of Innocence | Retro Video Game Podcast
2026/07/18
Featuring for the first time on the pod a game from the Playstation 2 AND my first time playing a 3D Castlevania game. Igarashi missed the mark bringing SoTN into the third dimension. Learned about a BoTW variant on Auction Alert. I fixed a console on the Kitty Lunch Hour.
167 | Journey to Silius | Retro Video Game Podcast
2026/07/04
Another 8-Bit run and gunner that is Nintendo hard and not very forgiving. It's saving grace is a banger of a soundtrack that gets heavy play here on the pod. Auction Alert is chock full of retro gaming goodness. Some good. Some bad. Revisiting some classics on the Kitty Lunch Hour!!
166 | Golden Axe Warrior | Retro Video Game Podcast
2026/06/20
ANOTHER action RPG... ANOTHER Zelda clone... But this one is a bit better than the pointy eared guy at Nintendo! Introduction to the housekeeping segment of the podcast, The Kitty Lunch Hour!
165 | Atari Jaguar in 2026 | Retro Video Game Podcast
2026/06/06
Having been in possession of a large Atari Jaguar collection for a couple of months now, I find myself never playing it or finding the need to. Is it the games? The "64-bit" graphics? Looking at the history of the console, it was literally Two Consoles Too Late... New Tomb Raider is making me nostalgic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt8qjw0DDlU https://www.facebook.com/share/1CdQZbAdhc/
164 | Fatal Frame (PS2) | Retro Video Game Podcast
2026/05/22
I delve once more into the survival horror genre with the Japanese horror classic Fatal Frame. A game with eerie atmosphere where your only weapon is a camera. And a folding camera at that... My holy grail console is on the ShopGoodwill Pod fade is setting in but I'm not going anywhere.
163 | Alundra | Retro Video Game Podcast
2026/05/09
After a month of slogging away, I finally put the controller down on Working Design's spiritual successor to Landstalker. There was much hope for this game, however, it became very dungeon heavy and the platforming left much to be desired. https://kotaku.com/struggling-video-game-retailer-gamestop-reportedly-buy-ebay-2000692553
162 | Conversation w/ Gamer Ahmer | Retro Video Game Podcast
2026/04/25
I talk with video game collector, podcaster and content creator Gamer Ahmer about retro video game collecting in the 410 and beyond. After seeing a Gamer Ahmer video, I travelled to PA and acquired some long box games. Auction Alert is filled with retro consoles, especially a Neo Geo since the announcement of the retro mini console release. https://www.youtube.com/@GamerAhmer https://www.instagram.com/xbrandalionx/
161 | Zoop! "America's Largest Killer of Time" | Retro Video Game Podcast
2026/04/09
Released in 1995, Viacom New Media entered the video game market with a massively marketed puzzle game intended to take on Tetris and Columns. Released on NINE platforms, Zoop remains in obscurity until jackson picked up his long box copy... Auction Alert is chock full of sealed Star Wars Big Box PC games. Starblade Alpha has been all throughout the Midwest, but who cares? I own two copies now...
160 | The Goonies II w/Professor Retro | Retro Video Game Podcast
2026/03/28
A video game sequel where the original was not released in the United States and based on a movie franchise that will never get a sequel? A strange little Metroidvania with no boss fights? We discuss speedrunning the game with Twitch streamer and speedrunner, Prof. Retro (links below..) A BIG acquisition comes eventually to the PS1 long box collection. Auction alert is coming from Heritage and long box lot eludes my steady gaze in the hunt for these games! https://www.twitch.tv/professorretro
