When You’re Not Able, He Is: Surrender, God-Opened Doors & Finding Freedom with Stephanie Parker!
2026/09/22
Have you ever reached the point where you realized, “God, I cannot do this in my own strength”?
In this episode, I sit down with my friend Stephanie Parker for a powerful conversation about surrender, grief, obedience and trusting God when life does not go the way we expected.
Stephanie shares how her faith became personal during a difficult season when she committed to spending an hour a day in God’s Word for a year with a simple prayer: “God, change me.” That decision transformed her life.
We talk about walking through the loss of a child, losing her dad, releasing control and learning that real freedom is not found in trying harder or carrying everything ourselves.
It is found in remembering that He is able, even when we are not.
Stephanie also shares how God opened unexpected doors in her life — from entrepreneurship and Shark Tank to acting in faith-based films including LifeMark and Disciples in the Moonlight.
If you are in a season of waiting, grief, surrender or wondering what God is doing with your story, this conversation will encourage you to keep trusting Him.
Bio:
Stephanie Parker is an actress, writer, producer, and lifelong storyteller with a heart for using film to entertain, connect, and point people toward something deeper.
Her acting credits include Disciples in the Moonlight, Lifemark, Divine Influencer, Shark Tank, among others. She has worked across film and television, with many of her projects living at the intersection of compelling storytelling and faith.
A devoted follower of Jesus, Stephanie is passionate about the place where faith, creativity, and real life collide. She believes some of the most powerful stories aren't the ones that tie everything up neatly, but the ones willing to wrestle honestly with disappointment, loss, relationships, doubt, healing, and the unexpected ways God meets us in the middle of them.
Stephanie's own journey has given her an even deeper appreciation for storytelling in recent years. Through seasons of significant personal change, she has continued pursuing acting and creating while learning what it looks like to trust God when the story doesn't unfold the way you expected.
Whether she's acting, writing, producing, or sitting around a table talking about Jesus, Stephanie hopes to tell honest stories that make people laugh, make them feel less alone, and remind them that God is still at work—even in the messy chapters.

There Is a Place for You: Disability, Faith & Finding Purpose in the Body of Christ with Nadia Ibrahim Mossburg!
2026/09/16
What does it really look like for the Church to make room for EVERY person in the Body of Christ? Not just make room for them to attend—but to belong, serve, lead, and use the gifts God has placed inside of them?
Today on the Anchored by the Sword podcast, I’m sitting down with Nadia Ibrahim Mossberg, author of Divinely Disabled: A 30-Day Devotional to Discovering God’s Heart for the Disability Community.
Nadia was born with cerebral palsy, and as a teenager she wrestled deeply with the realization that her disability was going to be part of her life. Growing up, she didn’t see many people with disabilities represented around her, and there were parts of that journey she carried quietly. But God used the joy and faith of a camp counselor to draw Nadia toward Him and begin showing her that her life had purpose.
And what a purpose it has become.
Nadia went on to spend 22 years working in federal policy, including positions with the Department of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Department of Defense. Her own experiences navigating barriers to employment and independent living helped fuel her passion to advocate for other people with disabilities.
In this conversation, we also talk honestly about another place where barriers still exist:
The Church.
Nadia shares about ableism, inaccessible spaces, misunderstanding disability, and even the spiritual harm that can happen when someone is told, “If you just had more faith, you would be healed.”
We also talk about what inclusion can actually look like. Here's the thing—it doesn't always require a huge disability ministry, an enormous budget, or some complicated plan.
Sometimes it looks like giving someone a ride.
Inviting them to lunch.
Making a Bible study accessible.
Listening when someone tells you what they actually need instead of assuming you already know.
And maybe most importantly, asking:
“How do YOU want to serve?”
Because people with disabilities are not simply people the Church is called to care for.
They are part of the Church.
They have spiritual gifts.
They have callings.
They have wisdom and experiences that the rest of the Body needs.
Whether you are part of the disability community, love someone who is, serve in church leadership, or simply want to become better at loving the people God has placed around you, I truly believe this conversation will challenge you.
And maybe that's exactly what we need.
Bio:
Nadia Ibrahim Mossburg, born with cerebral palsy, uses her degrees in English, journalism, and social work, as well as her experience as a senior advisor in disability policy, to improve disability policy at the national, state, and local levels. For over two decades, she has advocated for greater equity, better employment, emergency management, public health, and public transportation. Over more than three decades, she has also led Bible studies and served on many teams at her church. Nadia and her husband, Mathew, live in the Nashville area with their three cats and Watson, Nadia’s third service dog, who is enjoying retirement.

Being Rescued Was Only the Beginning: Healing the Wounds No One Could See with Lauren Burns!
2026/09/08
What do you do when you’re desperately praying for God to move…but you can’t see Him doing anything?
Friend, this episode is an incredible reminder that just because you can’t see God working doesn’t mean He isn’t already putting the pieces into place. Today I’m joined by Lauren Burns, author of Stolen: A True Story of Kidnapped, Rescued, and Redeemed.
At just seven years old, Lauren thought she was spending an extra night with her father. Instead, he took her from Texas to Jordan without her mother’s knowledge.
For three months, Lauren wondered when—or if—she would ever see her mom again. What she couldn’t see was that back home, her mother was fighting for her. She was calling, searching, fasting, and praying while God was already connecting people and circumstances behind the scenes.
After three days alone fasting and praying, God brought Lauren’s mother to Daniel 10:12 and the reminder that her prayers had been heard. Lauren wasn’t home yet. The miracle hadn’t happened yet. But her mother walked out with peace because she knew God had heard her.
Sometimes God’s peace comes before our circumstances change.
Sometimes surrender happens before we see the miracle.
And sometimes God is working in places we cannot see while we’re still asking, God, where are You?
What followed was an incredible rescue—but Lauren shares that being physically rescued was only the beginning.
She returned home carrying fear, betrayal, father wounds, unforgiveness, and questions about whether God was truly good.
Through years of healing, surrender, godly community, and learning the character of her Heavenly Father, Lauren began to discover that forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting what happened or saying it was okay. And forgiveness doesn’t always mean reconciliation.
Sometimes healing happens layer by layer as we continually place our hurt into God’s hands.
Whatever you’re walking through today, Lauren’s story reminds us:
He sees you. He hears you. He is with you. And He may already be working in ways you cannot see.
Bio:
Lauren Burns is the author of Stolen: A True Story of Kidnapping, Rescue, and Redemption, a powerful true crime memoir based on her real-life experience of being abducted at age seven and taken to the Middle East. Her story made international headlines—featured on Good Morning America, Inside Edition, People, and Reader’s Digest—and later inspired a television movie. Today, Lauren is a sought-after speaker on trauma, redemption, and faith, and the host of The Redeemed Podcast. Through her speaking, podcast, and growing platform, Lauren shares powerful stories of resilience and restoration, helping others process past wounds, reclaim their identity, and experience freedom through forgiveness. Lauren holds a master's degree in physical therapy and lives in Texas with her husband and children.

Rescued for Something: When God Uses Ordinary People to Change a Life with Zahara McCoy!
2026/09/01
What if the miracle you’ve been praying for doesn’t come by God removing the hardship—but by God sending someone to meet you right in the middle of it?
Today’s conversation is one I won’t soon forget.
I’m joined by Zahara McCoy, founder of Children of Grace, whose story began in a small village in Uganda. After losing her father to HIV at just seven years old, becoming a caregiver for her sick mother at nine, and then losing her mother at ten, Zahara suddenly found herself orphaned and facing a future filled with uncertainty.
She wondered if God saw her.
She wondered if He had a plan.
She wondered what would become of her life.
And then came a knock at the door.
Through a sponsorship program, an ordinary woman named Marianne McCoy chose to invest in a little girl she had never met. Zahara was given the opportunity to return to school, receive meals, and begin dreaming about a future again. Eventually, that relationship brought Zahara to the United States and changed the trajectory of her life. But this story isn’t simply about Zahara being rescued.
As Zahara says so beautifully in our conversation, she wasn’t rescued from something—she was rescued for something.
God eventually brought her back to Uganda, where the experiences that once caused her so much pain became the very places from which she could recognize the needs of other children. Today, through Children of Grace, Zahara is helping provide education, healthcare, mentorship, discipleship, guidance, and hope to children facing circumstances much like the ones she once faced herself.
We also talk about something I think every one of us needs to hear:
You don’t have to solve the entire problem.
You don’t have to have a huge platform.
You don’t have to have endless resources.
You simply have to be willing to ask God, “What can I do with what You’ve placed in my hands?”
Because sometimes the answer to someone’s prayer looks like an ordinary person deciding to say yes.
And to that one person, your yes could change everything.
Zahara encourages listeners not simply to hear her story and think, Wow, what an incredible journey. Her challenge is much bigger.
Let the story move you to action.
Sponsor a child.
Go on a mission trip.
Use your gifts.
Serve.
Give.
Pray.
Ask God where He wants your yes.
Because there is room for every one of us in Kingdom work.

Closer to God: When Prayer Becomes Relationship, Not Obligation with Emily Wickham!
2026/08/25
Have you ever felt like you should pray more—but then life gets busy, your mind starts racing, and somehow prayer becomes one more thing on your to-do list? I know I’m not the only one who has struggled with carving out intentional time with God, and that’s one of the reasons I loved this conversation so much.
On this episode of the Anchored by the Sword Podcast, I’m joined by author Emily Wickham, author of Closer to God: A 10-Week Study on Prayer.
Emily shares how prayer has been woven throughout her life, beginning with the example of her dad, who was a man who prayed about everything. Over the years, God continued to grow Emily’s love for His Word, women’s ministry, Bible study, writing, and helping other women grow closer to Him.
But we also talk about something I think so many of us need to hear:
Prayer isn’t about hitting a certain number of minutes. It’s about relationship.
Emily reminds us that God isn’t sitting there with a stopwatch waiting for us to pray long enough. He wants our hearts. He welcomes us into His presence whether we are sitting quietly at home, driving down the road, walking through a difficult season, or simply saying, “God, I don’t even know what to say.”
And I absolutely love that.
Emily also shares part of her own freedom journey—walking through seasons where she would become deeply discouraged over perceived failures, mistakes, and areas where she felt she wasn’t doing well. God eventually showed her that living under that heaviness wasn’t where He wanted her to stay. Through repentance and His grace, He brought freedom into that area of her life.
Emily’s book, Closer to God, walks readers through nine prayers found throughout Scripture and encourages us not simply to read about prayer, but to open our Bibles, study God’s Word, and begin writing and praying our own prayers.
If prayer has felt difficult, inconsistent, intimidating, or like another thing you’re failing at, I think this conversation will encourage you to look at it differently.
You don’t have to perform for God.
You simply get to come close.
Bio:
Emily Wickham shares God's Word and wonders with women. She is an author, speaker, and award-winning writer as well as a podcaster, YouTuber, and blogger.
Whether she's walking on the beach, sipping coffee on her porch, cooking a delicious meal, or gathering with family and friends, Emily delights in God's goodness. But I Prayed for This! What to Do When Living in God’s Yes Is Harder Than You Expected with Melissa Miller!
2026/08/19
We’re BACK! ❤️
After a much-needed week of rest, reflection, and allowing God to work on some things behind the scenes, I am so excited to be back with a brand-new episode of the Anchored by the Sword Podcast! And honestly, I couldn’t think of a better conversation to come back with.
Today, I’m joined by Melissa Miller, author of But I Prayed for This: What to Do When Living in God’s Yes Is Harder Than You Expected. And can I just say…this conversation is SO relatable.
Have you ever prayed for something, watched God answer that prayer, and then thought…
“Wait a minute. I prayed for this. So why is this so hard?”
Melissa knows that feeling firsthand. She shares her powerful story of coming to know Jesus while in college, after growing up in a home where God and the Bible were never talked about. Years later, she found herself walking through multiple major life changes at once—including a relocation, a new job, and adopting two siblings from foster care.
These were answers to prayer. But they also brought exhaustion, uncertainty, adjustment, trauma, grief, and a whole lot of dependence on God.
And that’s where this conversation gets REAL.
We talk about the pressure we put on ourselves when we're struggling in a season we prayed for.
The “I should…” statements.
I should be happier.
I should be more grateful.
I should have this figured out by now.
I prayed for this, so why am I struggling?
Melissa reminds us that admitting something is hard does not make us ungrateful.
We also talk about shame, finding safe community, the importance of compassionate witnesses, and why sometimes people don't need us to fix their situation or give them a Christian cliché. Sometimes they just need someone to sit beside them and say:
“I’m here. I understand. That really is hard.”
And then we talk about her WHOLE framework and why God cares about us as whole people—not just our spiritual lives. We talk about wellness, our hearts, our mindset, our relationship with God, and our relationships with other people. Because taking care of yourself isn't about being selfish. Sometimes caring for the whole person God created you to be is exactly what helps you stay anchored when life feels anything but steady.
If you are currently living in an answered prayer that feels harder than you expected, I want you to hear this:
You are not broken.
You are not ungrateful.
You didn't necessarily hear God wrong.
And you don't have to pretend that everything is easy just because it's something you prayed for.
Sometimes you're simply walking through the adjustment period that comes with a new season.
And God is still right there with you.

From Paralyzed to Purpose: How God Brought Freedom Through Brokenness with Katie Mathews!
2026/08/04
What if the greatest limitation in your life wasn't your circumstances—but the lies you've believed about yourself?
I had the incredible privilege of sitting down with Katie Mathews, co-founder of Limitless Journey, author, speaker, and life coach. At just sixteen years old, Katie's life changed forever after a devastating car accident left her a quadriplegic. Doctors told her she would never live independently, and for a season she believed the enemy's lies that her life no longer had purpose.
But God...
Instead of allowing her brokenness to define her, God began transforming her mind, healing her heart, and showing her that true freedom isn't found in perfect circumstances—it's found in Christ.
Through a simple practice of gratitude, the renewing of her mind through Scripture, and learning to partner with God one day at a time, Katie discovered a joy that couldn't be taken away by her diagnosis. Today she helps others experience that same freedom through Limitless Journey, a ministry dedicated to helping people renew their minds in partnership with God.
In This Episode We Discuss:
• Katie's powerful testimony of surviving a life-changing car accident• How gratitude became the turning point in her healing journey• Why renewing your mind is one of the most important battles you'll ever fight• The difference between living like a victim and walking as a victor in Christ• How Scripture and neuroscience beautifully complement one another• The importance of taking every thought captive• Why your diagnosis, disability, trauma, or past does not define your identity• The incredible story behind the founding of Limitless Journey• Practical encouragement for anyone feeling stuck, hopeless, or overwhelmed• The life-changing truth of Romans 12:2
One of my favorite moments from this conversation was Katie's reminder that even when she couldn't control anything else, she could still choose which thoughts she allowed to take root. That simple shift changed everything.
As we also talked about in this episode, the music we listen to, the truth we meditate on, and the voices we allow into our lives all shape our hearts. God's Word calls us to take every thought captive and think on whatever is true, honorable, pure, lovely, and praiseworthy. Those aren't just beautiful words—they're an invitation into freedom.
If you've been feeling stuck in fear, shame, anxiety, grief, or disappointment, I pray this conversation reminds you that your story isn't over. God still has purpose for your life, and He specializes in bringing beauty from brokenness.
Also, she is holding an online event that begins this Thursday (August 6th). If you are interested, head to her website below to sign up.
Bio:
Katie Mathews knows what it feels like to believe life is over. After a car accident at age 16 left her quadriplegic and with a traumatic brain injury, she spent years searching for meaning and trying to prove her worth. Everything changed when she encountered the Father's heart and discovered her identity in Christ. Today, Katie is the Co-Founder of Limitless Journey, a speaker, life coach, and author of Unparalyzed. Her passion is helping others experience the freedom that comes from renewing the mind, embracing beloved identity, and walking in a deeper relationship with Jesus.

Raised in the Shadow of the Mafia, Redeemed by the Savior with JT Tapias!
2026/07/28
What happens when someone who has experienced organized crime, homelessness, addiction, professional success, and complete emptiness encounters the transforming power of Jesus?
In this week's episode of the Anchored by the Sword Podcast, I sit down with JT Tapias, coach, speaker, and founder of the Empty Bucket Nutrition Plan.
JT shares how he grew up in a third-generation Colombian mafia family, spent over a year homeless on the streets of New York as a teenager, fulfilled his dream of playing professional soccer in Europe and Mexico, built a thriving seven-figure fitness business, and still found himself battling addiction, depression, and suicidal thoughts.
Then everything changed.
One invitation to church became the turning point that completely transformed his life. Today, JT is passionate about helping others experience not only physical transformation but spiritual renewal by viewing health through the lens of biblical stewardship.
In this conversation, we discuss:
JT's incredible testimony of God's redemption
How Jesus rescued him from addiction and hopelessness
Why worldly success never fills the emptiness only Christ can satisfy
The biblical foundation for caring for our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit
Why lasting health begins with renewing our minds (Romans 12:1-2)
The connection between trauma, identity, habits, and healing
How food can quietly become an idol without us realizing it
The difference between temporary weight loss and lifelong transformation
Why accountability and community matter in creating lasting change
Practical encouragement for anyone struggling with health, motivation, or spiritual disciplines
One of my favorite reminders from this conversation is that God isn't only interested in saving our souls—He's interested in transforming every area of our lives. Our physical health, emotional health, relationships, finances, and spiritual lives all matter to Him.
If you've ever struggled with unhealthy habits, emotional eating, shame, or simply wondering if God can redeem your past, I pray this episode reminds you that no story is beyond His reach.

Speaking Life, Choosing Faith, and Trusting God's Promises with Gail Schaar!
2026/07/24
When life changes in an instant, where do you turn?
This week on the Anchored by the Sword Podcast, I'm honored to welcome Gail Schaar, who shares the incredible story of walking through a breast cancer diagnosis while choosing to anchor herself—not in fear, not in statistics, and not even in her diagnosis—but in the unchanging truth of God's Word.
After being diagnosed with two types of breast cancer in April 2025, Gail found herself facing the whirlwind that so many people experience after hearing the words, "You have cancer." So many thoughts, opinions and other people's experiences were thrown in her direction and fear tried to take over.
But God had a different plan.
Out of this journey came her devotional, I Am Not a Cancer Patient, a book that challenges believers to examine what Scripture actually says about healing, identity, and the power of God's promises.
Whether you're walking through cancer, another illness, grief, infertility, divorce, or any difficult season, this conversation is a reminder that our identity is never found in our circumstances—it is found in Christ alone.
In this episode, we discuss:
Gail's unexpected breast cancer diagnosis in 2025.Why your diagnosis should never become your identity. The difference between acknowledging sickness and accepting it as who you are.Finding peace instead of fear during difficult medical decisions. Why God's Word became Gail's greatest source of strength. The importance of speaking Scripture over your life.Biblical healing and why Gail encourages believers to search the Scriptures for themselves. How God called her to write I Am Not a Cancer Patient. The story behind TenTwentyThreePress and the significance of Hebrews 10:23.Encouragement for anyone walking through a difficult diagnosis or life challenge.
One of my favorite takeaways from this conversation is this:
The enemy wants us to build our identity around our diagnosis, but God calls us to build our identity around His promises.
No matter what you're facing today, this episode is an encouragement to hold tightly to God's Word, trust His faithfulness, and remember that your circumstances never have the final say.
Bio:
Gail Schaar is a warrior, speaker, and creator who believes in the power of God’s Word. As a cancer survivor, she knows exactly how the enemy tries to steal your identity through lies and deception. She wrote her debut devotional, I Am Not a Cancer Patient, to share her real-life victory and spark a fire in your faith.
Gail’s message is clear: the enemy is a liar—do not accept his attacks. You have the authority to stand up, fight, and defeat him. And when God is on your side, you cannot lose.
Gail and her husband, Zach, are the founders of TenTwentyThree Press, a media and publishing company that creates social media content and digital products. They live in Northeast Ohio, with their two daughters, where they are active members of Faith Family Church.

AI, Discernment & Biblical Wisdom: A Conversation with Misty Phillip!

Five years ago, back in Episode 29, Misty Phillip joined me to share her incredible freedom journey, her ministry, and the Bible study that God had placed on her heart. It has been amazing to watch how God has continued to guide her steps, and I couldn’t be more excited to welcome her back to the podcast!
This time, we’re talking about a topic that affects every single one of us—Artificial Intelligence.
Misty’s newest book, The Trojan Horse of the Digital Age: Why Christians Must Discern AI, challenges believers to think critically about the technology we’re using every day. AI isn’t going away, so how do we use it wisely while remaining firmly rooted in God’s Word?
In this conversation we discuss:
Misty’s unexpected journey from ministry into cybersecurity and AI.Why AI is a powerful tool—but should never replace biblical wisdom. The importance of protecting your personal data and digital footprint. The growing concerns surrounding AI, surveillance, and data collection. How AI is impacting children, education, mental health, and relationships. Why parents need to understand how their children are using AI.Deepfakes, misinformation, and learning to recognize truth in a digital world. The importance of community, discernment, and walking closely with the Holy Spirit.Practical ways Christians can use AI responsibly to save time while continuing to seek God first.
One of my favorite reminders from this conversation is that AI can be used for good or for bad—just like many other tools. The key is not fear, but discernment.
As technology continues to advance, we must stay anchored in God’s Word so we can recognize truth, guard our hearts, and wisely steward the tools He’s placed in our hands.
Misty reminds us that no artificial intelligence will ever replace the wisdom that comes from the Holy Spirit.

Written in Heaven: Trusting God's Plan for Your Story with Tamara Hester Battaglia!
2026/07/14
Have you ever looked back over your life and realized that God was writing a story far greater than you could have imagined?
In this episode of the Anchored by the Sword Podcast, I sit down with Tamara Hester Battaglia, author and curator of the beautiful devotional Written in Heaven: His Story, Our Lives. Together, we talk about trusting God's timing, finding peace in seasons of uncertainty, and learning to see His fingerprints all throughout our lives.
Tamara shares her incredible personal journey—from walking through divorce after 24 years of marriage, navigating 17 years of singleness, discovering an unexpected ministry as a flight attendant, and eventually finding love again through God's unmistakable orchestration.
One of my favorite parts of our conversation is hearing how God slowly transformed Tamara from someone who needed every detail planned into someone who could wake up each day and simply ask, "Lord, where are You taking me today?" It's a beautiful reminder that while we love our planners (yes...I definitely relate!), God is the One directing every step.
In this episode we discuss:
How God meets us in seasons of heartbreak and uncertaintyLearning to trust God's plans over our ownWhy our lives are never randomFinding ministry opportunities in everyday momentsThe incredible story of how God orchestrated Tamara's second marriageThe importance of recognizing God's faithfulness by looking back over our livesWhy writing your own testimony can strengthen your faithHow Written in Heaven brings together 40 women of faith to share their personal God storiesPractical encouragement for letting go of anxiety and resting in God's promises
Tamara also shares the Scripture that keeps her anchored—Proverbs 3:5-6—reminding us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts instead of leaning on our own understanding.
One of the biggest takeaways from this conversation is this: our stories matter because they point people to God's faithfulness. When we take time to remember what He's done, we begin to see that He has been working behind the scenes all along.
If you've been struggling to trust God's timing, wondering why life hasn't gone according to your plans, or simply need the reminder that He is still writing your story, I pray this conversation encourages your heart.
Stay anchored in His promises, trust the Author of your story, and remember—your life is never random.

Becoming a Bible Nerd: Why Deeper Study Changes Everything with Faith Womack!
2026/07/11
What if the Bible isn't difficult... we've just never been taught how to study it?
In this episode of the Anchored by the Sword Podcast, I'm joined by Bible teacher, author, and content creator Faith Womack, author of No More Boring Bible Study. Together, we dive into what it truly means to study God's Word—not out of obligation, but from a desire to know Him more deeply.
Faith shares her powerful testimony of growing up in a home where Scripture was often misused and how God used that experience to ignite a passion for rightly handling His Word. Her journey reminds us that every believer is called to know the truth of Scripture for themselves.
We also discuss:
-Why so many Christians feel intimidated by Bible study
-How to overcome the fear of "not knowing enough"
-What hermeneutics really means (and why it isn't as scary as it sounds)
-Understanding Bible translations and how to use multiple versions wisely
-Helpful Bible study tools that anyone can use
-Why this generation has more access to biblical resources than ever before
-How studying Scripture deepens our relationship with Christ
-The importance of rightly dividing God's Word in a world full of misinformation
-Why every believer—not just pastors or Bible scholars—is called to study Scripture
One of my favorite reminders from this conversation is that God has equipped us to know His Word. We don't have to have a seminary degree to open our Bible with confidence. The Holy Spirit is our teacher, and when we approach Scripture with humility and a willingness to learn, God is faithful to reveal Himself.
Faith also shares the Scripture that keeps her anchored—Hebrews 12:1-2—and encourages us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus as we faithfully run the race He has set before us.
If you've ever felt overwhelmed by Bible study or wondered where to begin, this conversation will encourage you to take the next step. Don't settle for simply reading God's Word—learn to treasure it, understand it, and allow it to transform your life.

Faith aims to empower Christians not only to understand the Bible but also to enjoy it. Her debut book, No More Boring Bible Study: Why Taking Scripture Seriously Is Easier and More Exciting Than You Think released from Zondervan in November 2025.
Faith has a B.A. in biblical and theological studies from Covenant College and a M.A.T.S. from Erskine Seminary. When she’s not filming or teaching, Faith spends her time with her family going on hikes, crafting and drinking way too much coffee.

2026/07/07
There are moments in life when everything changes with a single diagnosis, an unexpected phone call, or a medical emergency. In those moments, we're faced with a choice: Will we trust what we see, or will we trust the God who sees the whole picture?
This week on the Anchored by the Sword Podcast, I'm joined by Stephanie Franklin-Suber, whose incredible testimony is a powerful reminder that God never wastes our pain.
Stephanie openly shares her journey through a cancer diagnosis at just 48 years old, the emotional aftermath of surviving cancer, the heartbreak of grief, and the miracle of surviving cardiac arrest. Through every setback, God continued to write a story of hope, healing, and renewed purpose.

If you've ever wrestled with fear, chronic illness, grief, unanswered questions, or simply wondered where God is in the middle of your pain, this conversation will encourage you to keep your eyes fixed on Him. His character never changes, even when our circumstances do.
In this episode, you'll discover:
• Stephanie's journey through cancer, cardiac arrest, grief, and miraculous recovery.• What it means to live the "Triune Temple Journey" by caring for your body, soul, and spirit.• Why God's redirection is often His greatest protection.• Practical ways to build your faith through prayer, Scripture, and intimacy with Christ.• How to recognize shifting seasons while remaining anchored in God's promises.• Encouragement for anyone walking through illness, emotional trauma, or recovery.• The resources behind Stephanie's Rebuild Your Temple message and her Signature Faith and Health Collection.

From Burnout to Balance: How God Restores What We Surrender with Vivian Cumins!
2026/06/26
Friend, if you've been feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or like you're carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders, this conversation is for you!
We're wrapping up a special week on the Anchored by the Sword Podcast! Earlier this week, I had the privilege of talking with Stephanie Esposito, co-host of Salted on Abundant TV, and today I'm joined by her co-host, Vivian Cumins. I love that each one shares a unique story of God's faithfulness and restoration.
Vivian's story is one that so many of us will relate to. For years, she believed perfection was the goal. She excelled in her career, poured herself into ministry, and gave everything she had to everyone around her. But underneath all the accomplishments was a woman who was physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually exhausted.
Eventually, everything came crashing down. Vivian shares the moment she found herself lying on her living room floor, completely depleted, crying out to God because she simply couldn't keep going.
And that's where everything began to change. In the middle of her darkest season, God whispered words that would become the foundation of her healing:
"Hold on. I will restore you."
Through surrender, a wilderness season, and even a battle with melanoma, Vivian discovered that restoration isn't about going back to who we used to be. It's about becoming who God originally created us to be.
We also talk about her two books, Break Down Better and A Better Way, where she encourages burned-out women to slow down, heal from the inside out, and rediscover God's design for balanced living.
Vivian's reminder that God never intended for us to strive ourselves into sickness.
He created us for relationship, not relentless performance.
Friend, if you're running on empty today, hear this:
You don't have to earn your rest.
God is inviting you into it.
If you've ever struggled with perfectionism, burnout, anxiety, overcommitting, or believing your worth is tied to your productivity, I pray this episode reminds you that God never asked you to carry it all.
Bio:
A small-town girl from Chickasha, Oklahoma, Vivian Cumins is the author of Break Down Better: 52 Restoring Devotionals for Burned-Out Women, and A Better Way! The Break Down Better Guided Journal, co-host of Salted, the hottest new women’s television talk show on Abundant TV, and the host of the Juggling Life, Finding Balance Podcast.
A retired career professional with over 26 years of service in the United States Air Force and Forest Service, Vivian draws from a wealth of experience and a heart for helping others find peace amid life’s demands.
Vivian knows first-hand the challenges women face while juggling multiple personal and professional responsibilities. Having walked through her own season of burnout and breakdown, she now shares how partnering with God can bring calm, strength, and joy. With authenticity, warmth, and wisdom, Vivian equips women to honor God, care for themselves, and live a joyful, balanced life.
Vivian is married to her best friend, Eddy, and is the proud bonus mom to two adult children and a “Glammy” to five grandchildren.

The Covering: Finding Freedom, Faith, and God's Promises with Stephanie Esposito!
2026/06/23
Friend, this week is a special week on the Anchored by the Sword Podcast! Not only am I joined by Stephanie Esposito, author, speaker, military wife, and host of the #1-rated Abundant TV show Salted, but this is also the first of two incredible Abundant TV hosts you'll hear from this week. Stephanie joins me today, and be sure to come back Friday for another inspiring conversation with a fellow Abundant TV host.
In this powerful episode, Stephanie shares her personal freedom story—one that began in a hospital room when her young son was facing a life-threatening illness. After weeks of unanswered questions, Stephanie found herself crying out to God and standing on His promises like never before. What happened next changed not only her son's story but her understanding of faith, healing, and God's faithfulness forever. Stephanie shares how she learned that God's promises are not just for "other people." They're for His children.
Together, we talk about what it means to trust God when life doesn't make sense, how disappointment can sometimes keep us from seeing God's hand at work, and why it's so important to anchor ourselves in Scripture instead of our emotions.
We also discuss her journey from television news to ministry, her book The Covering: Spiritual First Aid for Families, and the incredible success of her Abundant TV show, Salted, which is creating space for authentic conversations about faith, mental health, relationships, purpose, and the issues Christian women are navigating every day.
One of my favorite moments from this conversation was when Stephanie reminded us that sometimes God answers our prayers in ways we never expected. We can become so focused on what we think the answer should look like that we miss the miracle standing right in front of us.
God cannot lie. His promises are still true, and His faithfulness is still your anchor.
If you've ever struggled with disappointment, fear, anxiety, unanswered prayers, or wondering if God's promises really apply to you, this conversation will encourage your heart.
Bio:
Stephanie Esposito is an author, speaker, military wife, mom of three and a Boston Terrier, and host of Salted, the #1-rated show on Abundant TV.

She is also the author of The Covering: Spiritual First Aid for Families, a resource designed to help families stand on God's Word during life's most challenging moments.
