Mondologue: What does your Intuition say?
2021/08/30
I've spent the summer tuning into my inner voice, my intuition has to lead me to stillness and movement but mostly investigation. Of everything! Being '' spirit-led '' or following my intuition has never felt so hard, mainly because we have never been exposed to so much information. The pandemic has set the scene for fear-based thinking and staying open isn't always easy.  In this episode, I explore what intuition is, how I follow mine, and the stories and circumstances that I know intuition has influenced. The two books I mention in the Podcast are ; The more beautiful world that our hearts know is possible by Charles Eisenstein Intuition: The Highest Rung Of the Ladder of Consciousness - Osho And there is a book that I did not mention but listened to while writing this, it was:  Intuition and The Mystical Life by Caroline Myss and Clarissa Pinkola NB - Given these divisive and sensitive times, I would live to make it explicitly clear that this episode is about the exploration of intuition in the age of fear. It can be applied to many subjects but feels relevant now.  Learn more about your ad choices. Must We Always Be The Phoenix, Rising From The Ashes with Giselle LeBleu Gant
2021/07/02
When thunderstruck at the start of this recording I knew we would be in for a ride.  I spoke with my friend, Giselle LeBleu Gant about being an artist and a woman in these times. She opened up about falling out of love with America and into hope and Joy with Ghana and Uganda. We found ourselves laughing through languish as we searched for the words to describe how we rise from the ashes and find ourselves.  There are a few audio glitches in this ep, but I think the stories will carry you through.  Giselle is an Actor, writer, and Teacher. She lives between California and Ghana Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Painting Outside The Lines with Othello De'Souza Hartley
2021/05/23
thello De’Souza-Hartley is a mixed media artist based in London. His artistic mediums include photography, film, performance, sound, drawing, and painting. He received an MA in Fine Art from Camberwell College of the Arts and previously studied photography at Central St Martins. Othello’s work explores identity, emotions, masculinity, gender, and the changing perception of the black body. I sat down to speak with Othello on a blustery Friday morning, he shared tender stories of his family life that made me understand him a little more.  His creative Mother encouraged him to explore art and stay open and his Dad taught him about attention to detail and quality work. Unfortunately, in 2020 Othello lost his Dad to Covid-19, we talk about how his untimely passing inspired him to ensure he lives his life to the fullest.  We also discuss being visible and invisible in the UK, creating work in Uganda, and not waiting for outside approval or acceptance as a creative. You can see some of the work we talk about on Othello's Instagram HERE  Host: Emilyne Mondo Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Mondologue: Before AA
2021/05/10
In June 2019 I decided to see what would happen if I stopped drinking alcohol for a while. Nearly two years later and I'm still going. After a lot of reflection, I realised that the timing of this decision has been life-changing. I believe I was in the position that so many people may find themselves in. This grey area before 'needing AA or battling severe addictions problems ' while at the same time having a feeling that things could get worse and a hope that they will change. In this episode I share a bit of my story and why I think space ' Before AA ' is sacred.  10th - 16th May marks mental Health awareness week. If you or someone you know is struggling please know you are not alone. A Meditative Reflection with Emilyne Mondo
2021/04/21
On April 20th 2021 ,a jury in Minnesota found Derek Chauvin Guilty on three counts of murdering George Floyd. It is the first time in Minnesota history that a police officer has been found guilty of the murder of a black man. While it is history, it is not justice. It is overdue accountability and the very first steps to a change that African Americans have been fighting for. This horrific murder sent shockwaves around the world and sparked the largest protests we have seen since the civil rights movement.  This meditative reflection is a space to breathe and be still. The pandemic year that kept us in our homes also allowed a stillness that enabled us to witness this moment.  Learn more about your ad choices. Ancestors, courage and being free with Shingai Shoniwa
2021/04/05
This deep dive with the musical icon Shingai Shoniwa is very special. In moment's it feels like channeling and other times it’s a call to courage. Shingai walks with her ancestors in heart and music, she grounds this truth beautifully by expressing ‘’I’ve got voices in me, I’ve got people behind me that I have to honour. Whether I like it or not. If you don't honour your ancestors my personal belief is you're not really honouring yourself.’’ The lessons and wisdom in this episode are liberating and uplifting. If you have not listened to Upcycle and Recycle your pain with Shingai, please listen to that episode first! - This is the bonus AND continuation. This episode was recorded before International Women’s Day, so the video for Too Bold is out now - you can watch it here  Follow Shingai here The hashtag for the Too Bold Challenge is #TooBoldChallange A way of being free - By Ben Okri Here Host and Producer: Emilyne Mondo : Mondo Moments Learn more about your ad choices.
