Lola N’sangou (pronounced “Sango,”) is the executive director of Mass Liberation Arizona, building a movement for abolition in the nation's 5th most incarcerated state. Lola has been organizing to change the criminal punishment system since she was incarcerated from 2003 to 2014. While incarcerated, she co-founded Humanities Behind the Walls (HBW), a collective of organizers, artists, and educators who partnered with Arizona State University’s School of Social Transformation to bring the study of humanities to prisoners and provide participants access to grassroots organizations and campaigns. Adnan Khan is the founder of Firstwatch Films, a video project first conceived and led entirely by incarcerated people inside San Quentin State Prison. Adnan Khan was also the executive director of Re:Store Justice, working with currently and formerly incarcerated people, survivors of crime, district attorneys, and the community to reimagine our justice system. While incarcerated, Adnan inspired, launched, and worked on the Felony/Murder rule legislation (Senate Bill 1437). The bill passed, and after serving 16 years, in January 2019, Adnan was the first person re-sentenced under the bill he helped create.
