In this episode, we discuss the four main types of prostitution laws. We talk about which model we believe is best as far as minimizing exploitation and trafficking. We also cover different terms used to refer to individuals in the sex industry and why certain terms are harmful. We believe that changing our language can have a significant impact on changing the narrative of many women who are being exploited. 

In this episode, we discuss what trafficking and exploitation are and the conditions that put individuals at risk for being trafficked. We also answer questions related to who the buyers are and what trafficking is and is not in light of media portrayals. Finally, we talk about the story and role of Route One Ministry in Massachusetts as we combat this horrific crime. 

As a survivor of sex trafficking, domestic violence, homelessness, and drug addiction, Robin has been out of “the life” for 15 years. She is now passionate about giving back and empowering other vulnerable women. She has worked in various non-profit organizations with different populations. She has dedicated her life to victims of sexual exploitation and domestic violence as an advocate, mentor and outreach worker.  Robin graduated in 2020 with an Associates Degree in Social Work with a concentration in Substance Abuse. She holds numerous certifications : Healthcare worker, Recovery Coach, Peer Support, Ending The Game group facilitator, Narcan distributor, and HIV/Hep C tester. She is also an active member of NECAT’s (New England Coalition Against Trafficking) Survivor Network and is also a public speaker and trainor. Lastly, she resides in Rhode Island and enjoys spending time with her family, especially with her beautiful 4 yr old granddaughter Aviana.

Chelsey is a survivor of commercial sex trafficking in America and a woman who is in long term recovery from substance use. Chelsey fled her trafficker in March of 2011 and has been in recovery since May of 2016. Chelsey went from victim to survivor when she found Jesus at the Salvation Army rehabilitation center and is now using her story to bring hope and awareness to others. Chelsey is currently the outreach coordinator, survivor speaker and mentor for Jasmine Grace Outreach, senior case manager at Lifebridge shelter, the outreach worker for the Salem Police Department and on the survivor team for the New England Coalition Against Trafficking. Most importantly she is the mother to an eight year old little boy.

Jasmine Grace is a survivor leader, author and founding director of jasmine Grace Outreach. JGO serves women as they exit the commercial sexual trade and drug addiction. Empowering them as they journey through recovery. 

Tricia Grant is the Director of the Not Here Justice in Action Network and the Program Director for Sophia’s House. A strong advocate for survivors and youth vulnerable to exploitation, and a leader in the anti-trafficking movement, she is also the Founder and Director of If Only 1. Tricia is a survivor of domestic minor sex trafficking who now educates and mentors youth and adults in large group and one-on-one settings about the reality of human trafficking and exploitation. 

Lily Rivera is a Puerto Rican woman who has been working in the social work field for over 15 years.  She is the Assistant Director of Weber Renewal in R.I.  It is a merged organization of two programs providing a full range of harm reduction, recovery, and basic needs services to men and women, including the transgender community. Lily is a trafficking survivor who uses her life experience, faith, and strength to impart awareness and hope.

In this epsiode we will be interviewing Audrey Morrissey Associate Director of My Life My Choice in Boston MA. Drawing from her personal experience in “the Life”, Ms. Morrissey seeks to help vulnerable girls avoid being recruited into the commercial sex industry and/ or leave exploitation behind them. Ms. Morrissey facilitates My Life My Choice exploitation prevention groups throughout Greater Boston, as well as trains service providers in Massachusetts and nationally on recognizing the signs of exploitation and helping girls exit.

In this very first episode we will explore what Scripture has to say about our bodies and what myths we may be believing about them.
