Day 14: What Do I Need to Fully Release Today?
2025/11/20
Send a text In today’s episode, I’m sitting with a question that’s stretching me in the best way: What do I need to fully release so I can fully receive what God is trying to give me? I talk about the tension of holding on to old identities, old urgencies, and old rhythms that no longer fit the woman I’m becoming. I share how God keeps inviting me into ease, clarity, and a softer rhythm — and how that invitation requires open hands, not clenched ones. This episode is for anyone feeling the pull to let go of pressure, self-reliance, invisible deadlines, or the belief that you’re behind. Maybe what needs to be released is the very thing blocking what God is trying to place in your life. I hope this question blesses you too. Let’s step into this season with open hands. Let's continue the conversation: sonjaholmes.substack.com purpose of questions  https://www.sonjaholmes.com
Day 13: What Am I Carrying That Isn’t Mine?
2025/11/18
Send a text Today I’m sitting with a gentle but necessary question: What am I carrying that I’m not supposed to carry? So often, the pressure, urgency, and weight I feel… I’m the one who created it. And a lot of what I hold onto was never meant for me to carry alone in the first place. I reflect on the scriptures that remind me to cast my cares and burdens on the Lord because He cares for me and sustains me. This episode is an invitation to look honestly at the heaviness we’ve picked up—worry, pressure, expectations—and ask, Is this really mine? And if not, to lay it down at the feet of Jesus so we can show up in the simplest, truest way possible. A soft reminder: we don’t have to hold everything. We were never meant to. Day 12: What Permission Do I Need to Give Myself?
2025/11/18
Send a text Today’s episode is short, simple, and so necessary. I’m sitting with one question that’s been grounding me in this season of transition: “What permission do I need to give myself so I can move forward with peace instead of pressure?” For so long, I equated transition with punishment. I thought I had to hurry, control, and force outcomes. But when I really look at it, so much of that urgency was rooted in fear—stories I created in my mind, not truth. In this season of transition I feel called to explore this question for myself. What permission do you need to give yourself so you can move forward with peace? This is Day 12 of 14.  Let's keep the conversation going: sonjaholmes.substack.com  purpose of questions  https://www.sonjaholmes.com
Day 11: What’s Stirring in Your Spirit?
2025/11/17
Send a text Today I’m sitting with a question I can’t shake: What is the next thing being stirred in my spirit—even if I can’t explain it yet? Not the edited version. Not the realistic version. The uncensored, unfiltered whisper. There’s something about allowing yourself to name the nudge without talking yourself out of it. So I’m letting myself dream without shrinking, and I’m inviting you to do the same. What’s that quiet invitation that keeps returning? What’s been pulling on your heart? You don’t have to understand it to acknowledge it. Just sit with it.  Let's keep the conversation going: sonjaholmes.substack.com purpose of questions  https://www.sonjaholmes.com
Day 10: If you could write this next chapter, what would you write?
2025/11/14
Send a text In today’s episode, I reflect on the scripture, “My tongue is the pen of a ready writer,” and what it means to speak with intention. I ask myself — and you — a simple but powerful question: If your words are writing the next chapter, what are you speaking into being? I share how I’m choosing to declare peace, favor, clarity, and joy over this season, trusting that my words carry creative power. This episode is a reminder that our story is still unfolding, and we have the authority to guide it with what we speak. Keep the conversation going at sonjaholmes.substack.com purpose of questions  https://www.sonjaholmes.com
Day 9: How will I speak over this moment?
2025/11/13
Send a text The question I’m sitting with today is this:  👉🏽 If I truly believe that life and death are in the power of the tongue, how would I speak over this moment? Sometimes it’s so easy to forget that our words aren’t just sounds — they’re containers. They carry direction, atmosphere, and weight. The way I speak over a moment becomes the way I experience it. In this episode, I share how I’ve been reflecting on the power of my words — not just what I say out loud, but the silent dialogue I hold within. What am I declaring? What am I aligning with? Am I speaking from fear, urgency, or old patterns… or am I speaking from faith and truth — from what God has already said? 💭 Sit with this:  If you really believed that your words shape your world, what would you declare right now? Would you speak peace over chaos?  Would you speak clarity over confusion?  Would you speak life into what feels uncertain? Your tongue is a creative force.  Your words are forming your future. ✨ Scripture to Reflect On: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” — Proverbs 18:21“My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.” — Psalm 45:1🎧 Listen in for a gentle reminder to pause before you speak — not in hesitation, but in authority — and to speak life into the moment you’re in. Let's keep the conversation going: sonjaholmes.substack.com  purpose of questions  https://www.sonjaholmes.com
Day 8: If I really believed that nothing was impossible… what would I do next?
2025/11/12
Send a text Key Points: Reflecting on the truth that “nothing is impossible for those who believe.”Asking: If God delights in my desires, what does that mean for how I dream?Reframing desire not as selfishness, but as divine design — desires are planted to draw us closer to the life He’s already written.Visualizing this season as a blank canvas — a chance to co-create with God.Exploring what it means to begin again with faith, words, and aligned action.Reminder: The next chapter isn’t waiting on us — it’s waiting to be written with us.Anchor Scripture: Psalm 37:4 – “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Mark 9:23 – “All things are possible to him who believes.” Reflection Prompts: What would I begin if I knew God was cheering me on?What would I create or build if I trusted that He delights in my dreams? What’s one desire I’ve been downplaying that might actually be a seed from Him?Let's keep the conversation going. Day 7: What if you truly believe you were right where you need to be?
2025/11/11
Send a text Today I had this question looping in my spirit: What would it look like if I actually believed that I am right where I need to be? This came up because I noticed myself slipping back into those old patterns — the urgency, the need to produce something, the itch to control the moment so nothing falls apart. That part of me that thinks my worth is tied to what I can show for myself. But when I slowed down, I realized… maybe the falling apart is the thing that’s making room for something truer to emerge. Maybe being is the work right now. In this episode/post, I unpack:  • Why the urge to “do more” is actually an old survival pattern  • What it means to trust divine timing instead of forcing every next step  • How to sit with the discomfort instead of sprinting out of it  • The deeper truth that your value is not measured by your output And at the end, I ask you the same question I’m sitting with today:  What would it look like for you to really believe that you are right where you need to be? Let's keep the conversation going on here: sonjaholmes.substack.com  purpose of questions  https://www.sonjaholmes.com
Day 6: What Is This Moment Trying to Give You?
2025/11/10
Send a text In today’s episode, I share the question that’s been sitting deep in my spirit lately:  “What could this moment be trying to give me?” I talk about this gentle whisper I keep feeling — don’t miss what this moment is trying to offer you. I open up about how easy it is for me to slip back into striving, overachieving, staying relevant, or trying to control what God has already released me from. This episode is really a pause… an invitation to notice the transformation God might be doing in me right now. A reminder that some seasons aren’t about pushing — they’re about receiving, surrendering, and letting go of old patterns. Key points I explore: • What this moment might be trying to give me • How striving can steal something sacred • Letting go of old identities I don’t need anymore • Trusting God’s timing more than my productivity • Slowing down enough to actually notice what God is forming in me Reflection Question: What is this moment trying to give you — and what old pattern is trying to rob you of it? Day 5: What Do I Need to Believe Right Now?
2025/11/07
Send a text Today I’m sitting with a simple but grounding question:  What do I need to believe about myself - and about God’s sovereignty - in this moment? I think about David in 1 Samuel 17, standing before Saul, naming the evidence of who he was and the evidence of who God had already been to him. He didn’t hype himself up he remembered. He pulled from his history with God. So I’m asking myself the same thing:  What truth do I need to stand on today, and what evidence do I already have that supports it? That’s the question I’m holding, and I’m sharing it with you in case you need it too. Thanks for being here, friend. Day 4: If I knew this was taking me from glory to glory, how would I move through this season?
2025/11/06
Send a text If you really knew that everything happening right now — the uncertainty, the waiting, the transition — was actually working for you, how would you move through this season? I’m not talking about the surface-level “it’s gonna be okay” kind of faith. I mean deep down in your spirit, in your belly, where peace lives even when the path doesn’t make sense. If you believed that all things were working together for your good — not in hindsight, but right now — what would shift? Would your posture change?  Would you smile more?  Would you release what’s been draining you and make room for what’s meant for you? That’s the question I’m sitting with today. Because sometimes we don’t have to wait until the other side to see the blessing — sometimes the setup is already in motion. So ask yourself with me:   If I knew this was taking me from glory to glory, how would I move through this season? Day 3: Who’s Emerging Because of This?
2025/11/05
Send a text In this short, reflective episode, I invite you to pause and look at what’s forming in you and not just around you. So often, when life shifts or things fall apart, we focus on what’s being taken instead of what’s being taught. But every experience carries the power to reveal a new version of you — one that’s stronger, softer, wiser, or more grounded than before. This isn’t about pretending the hard isn’t hard. It’s about asking, “Who am I choosing to let emerge because of this?” Because when you start to look for evidence of growth, you begin to rewire your brain to find possibility in the midst of pain. Take a breath, tune in, and notice what’s rising. She’s already here. Day 2: What is yours to keep and how could that help you for what is next?
2025/11/04
Send a text When everything shift- your title, your role, your season - it’s easy to feel like you’ve lost a piece of yourself. But even in the middle of change, there are things that can’t be taken: your growth, your lessons, your love, your character. In this short reflection, I share the question that’s grounding me right now: When everything else falls away, what’s yours to keep? Because some things aren’t lost-they’re just coming with you into the next chapter. Reflection question: What’s mine to keep?Remember: grief and gratitude can coexistCarry forward what can’t be stripped awayBe one of the first subscribers to my new substack for a community of like-minded builders who are craving something new and building from a place of wholeness. sonjaholmes.substack.com purpose of questions  https://www.sonjaholmes.com
Day 1 - Daily Question: From the other side of this, what would you tell your present self?
2025/11/03
Send a text In this episode, I want you to really see yourself through this—whatever this is for you right now. I want you to imagine being on the other side of it, standing in your promised land, and ask yourself: what would that version of you say to the you who’s still in the thick of it? A week before I got laid off, I was walking through my yard and had this quiet moment where I realized… I was standing in the middle of answered prayer. Not because of anything material, but because of the peace I was feeling—the woman I was becoming. And when the news came, my posture didn’t change. That peace stayed. This episode is me processing that moment out loud, and inviting you to do the same. It’s not about pretending everything’s perfect. It’s about recognizing how far you’ve already come, even in the middle of uncertainty. So today, I’m sitting with this question: “If I’m standing in my promised land—on the other side of my answered prayer—what would I tell the version of me in the wilderness?”And I want you to sit with it too. Take a few minutes to imagine yourself there, in your promised land. Then ask: What would I whisper back to me now? We’re doing this together for 14 days—asking questions that rewire how we see our lives, one day at a time. Train Your Brain for the Battle: Why These Simple Daily Questions Might Be Your Secret Weapon
2025/11/03
Send a text Before we dive into daily prompts, you need to understand WHY they work—so you don't skip them when you need them most. This episode breaks down the neuroscience of the Reticular Activating System (RAS), the brain's filter that decides what you notice out of 11 million bits of information per second. Host Sonia Holmes explains how daily questions literally rewire your neural pathways, and shares how years of this practice gave her peace instead of panic when she got laid off last week. This isn't about affirmations or toxic positivity—it's about training your brain to search for truth instead of only fear. If you're in transition and your brain is stuck in threat mode, this episode explains how to reprogram your filter, one question at a time. What You'll Learn: How your Reticular Activating System (RAS) acts as a filter for realityWhy the questions you ask yourself determine what you noticeThe neuroscience behind "neurons that fire together, wire together"How daily prompts build new neural pathways over timeWhy this isn't about affirmations or toxic positivityWhat actually happened when Sonia got laid off (proof this works)What to expect in the first 4 weeks of daily practiceKey Takeaway: These aren't feel-good affirmations—they're search questions that train your brain to filter for possibility instead of threat. Do them even when you don't feel like it. Especially when you don't feel like it. Resources Mentioned: Dr. Rick Hanson (neuropsychologist, "Hardwiring Happiness")Reticular Activating System (RAS) researchWhat's Next: Starting today, daily 3-5 minute prompt episodes. One question. Real-time brain retraining.  Be one of the firsts to join the community of builders who are building from wholeness. I'll be documenting my journey of building and sharing my lessons along the way.
