Disney Princesses are TOXIC AF!!!
2022/04/06
Ah, princesses, who doesn't love them? Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Ariel, had the coolest dresses---they were the most glamorous role models. Then we all grew up and realized that Disney movies have some really misogynistic messages.
Growing up, most of us were taught a simple formula: handsome prince + long-haired beautiful woman = Happily Ever After. Disney was the narrator, the primary source of our info. The ongoing collective anxieties about gender expectations and roles have reared their ugly heads through Disney princesses and the audience's relationship with them.

The Secret to Coping with Grief!
2022/03/30
Grief is difficult, and people often don't prepare enough for it. While there seems to be a lot of material about coping with grief - which is good - most of these give negative advice that's regressive, unhealthy, and makes most people feel even more upset. This video will help you understand how to cope with your own grief from a positive perspective, instead of letting society make you feel bad about yourself. (You can check out my other videos on grief here )

WandaVison: Don't do this when heartbroken!
2022/03/16
Being heartbroken is awful... I've been there. We've all been there. Grief is natural and necessary, as long as it's done correctly. Today, I want to talk about how to deal with grief, the proper way to grieve, and what happens when you DON'T do this.
No One Talks About Postpartum Depression In Black Women!
2022/03/02
There is a stigma around Postpartum Depression (PPD) and Anxiety, i.e. it is an “easy out” for mothers struggling after childbirth, or it is a “means for a mother to get attention.” However, PPD and anxiety are real, serious mental health conditions — often misunderstood — about 1 in 8 women experience symptoms of postpartum depression. Estimates of the number of women affected by postpartum depression differ by age and race/ethnicity.
In my opinion, they should be approached similarly to how we treat other serious diseases or illnesses faced by mothers post-childbirth. The hope of this podcast episode is to help remove barriers to treatment by providing helpful information on these serious conditions, and tips in seeking out proper treatment.
In this episode, we talk about the real meaning of postpartum depression, when postpartum depression begins, how to classify postpartum depression, treatment of postpartum depression, identification of postpartum depression, and struggles in postpartum depression.
We also share some insights on the anxiety part in postpartum depression, behaviors involved in postpartum anxiety, support groups in postpartum depression and anxiety, therapy vs. support group therapy, seeking help in postpartum depression and anxiety, dealing with postpartum anxiety, and postpartum doulas.
Tune in to learn more on this and other mental health topics!
