Today i joined by Jakub of Tolokoshe! Jakub was first on the podcast with this musical project back in October 19 2024, nearly one week from today, talking about his latest single release at the time, 'Cosmic Holiday'. Now he makes his long awaited return on the show to talk about his first full collective release as a band with Tokoloshe's latest EP, 'We Fell Apart'! Today on the podcast I am joined by ES of the Australian, one man Black/Doom Metal band, Exitium Sui! Exitium Sui breaks a 2-year silence with ground shattering blackened doom record “Unravelling”. Confronting the dark chasms of the human psyche, “Unravelling” negotiates liminal space between utter chaos, complete seclusion, and fathomless depravity. Equally as blackened as it is funeral doom, leaving no artistic stone unturned and no crevasse unexplored. ES pushes the filth across the board while staying true to the doom moniker. The vocals are deeper, clearer, and more harrowing, the keyboards are less present, giving more room for snarling riffs and an unrelenting vocal performance. The result is a record that is less layered and more cut-throat, retaining the projects immense atmosphere but in a much more visceral approach. With all music written, recorded, mixed, mastered, and produced by ES alone, the record features guest vocals by Drew James Griffith and a re-recorded epic rendition of ‘Until the End Hath Found Us’ from the project's debut EP. Today on the podcast I am going to be joined by writer/theatremaker, Cian Ó Náraigh! Cian is the founder of Scaoilte Theatre, a bilingual (English/Irish) theatre comhargúpa, based in Kildare and Dublin which has a focus on bilingual, politically aware, socially conscious and environmentally focused theatre. I'll be chatting to Cian about what the group is all about, why he set is up and what kind of stuff they want to make, On top of this, Scaoilte Theatre's play, 'Anonn | The Other Side', will be embarking on it's national tour this week, beginning on Wednesday in Kildare and then coming to Dublin on Friday in the Axis Art Centre and Theatre in Ballymun. This is a one-man show tackling themes of grief, loss, and the macabre, all about a fake spirit medium actually making contact with the other side. Cian, who wrote the play, will be telling us all about the show in a non-spoiler way, why he wrote it and what it represents. We'll be chatting about Ag Samhlú Saoil Eile, the bilingual theatre workshop he setup alongside Martha Cosgrove of Scaoilte Theatre. The project invites young people (16-24) with a curiosity for the Irish language and theatre to explore the natural spaces and species in Irish mythology of supernatural Otherworld through theatre. Participants are then invited to create their own stories of worlds in which we live with respect and wonder for ecosystems. Today on the podcast I am very excited to say that I have Casey Nolan joining me, the bassist for the awesome Portland Hardcore band, Dry Socket! This episode comes just a few days ahead of the band's Irish debut, as on the 29th of August the band will be coming to Ireland for a run of shows supporting another incredible American Hardcore band, SPACED, on their Ireland & UK headline tour. Today on the podcast I am joined by David and Taylor of the Scottish Shoegaze band, Sunstinger, to discuss the band's third and latest EP, 'Spare Me The Rapture', which is to be released on the 27th of August. On the band’s expansive new EP ‘Spare Me the Rapture’, Sunstinger’s sound is the product of their environment; beautiful but crushing, abrasive but oneiric and oppressive but romantic. Over the course of the EP’s six tracks, which move between delicate ethereal passages to tsunamis of fuzz warped by reverse reverbs, the band look to find comfort in the misery, romanticising the agony just to survive. We will be breaking through the EP track by track, breaking down each track and taking the listeners through the recording and writing process of the EP. The band have somehow managed to include this new dynamic to their music while still retaining all the mathy, Emo and punky hardcore influences that they have become known for over the years.
