Today, things are going to be changed up a little. Normally, I interview my guests on subjects that they have experience in, but today a familiar face is back to turn the tables and interview me. Kim is back to ask me about my experiences with rejection, how it has affected me over the years as I made my way around the world, and how I have managed to accept some difficult situations. Rejection can be extremely challenging to come to terms with, and it can derail you and your progress if you personalize it. In this episode I talk about the struggles I have had accepting certain rejections and how I turned many of these into acceptance as I looked around for a different way to get where I needed to go. Today my guest is Lillian, a friend who I met when I was doing my Honours Thesis at the University of Western Australia. Although we were twenty years apart in age, we developed a gentle and supportive friendship during that stressful time. Lillian is the daughter of Malaysian immigrants of Chinese descent, and is a first generation Australian. One of her greatest challenges has been negotiating how to develop into her own person whilst being pulled between the Western culture that she has grown up in, and the more traditional beliefs of her parents coming from an Asian culture. Today my guest is someone that many of you already know from a few podcasts ago, Kim. Today my guest is Alyssa, one of my dearest friends who I met when I was living in Canada. We developed a wonderful and supportive friendship and spent many hours together, along with her awesome husband Andy, in their basement, laughing and talking about everything and anything. She has two gorgeous kids under the age of five, but it has been tough to be in a different country during a pandemic and unable to meet new people or create a social circle. Today, my guest is someone that many of you already know from the second episode of this podcast, Lacie. She is one of the friends that I made when I was teaching English in Costa Rica, and spoke about her motivation to travel, her surprise at why people wanted to learn English, where she feels connected, and her desire to encourage women to explore the world. Today my guest is a wonderful friend of mine that I met when I was living in Australia. We were introduced by another friend who thought that we would get along fabulously, and she was right, and we did. We had some shared experiences that bonded us, both as immigrants and both as women who had moved on their own, and an amazing friendship followed for many years.
