In the last episode, we covered OJ’s college career and how it paralleled the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s. In this episode, we’ll talk about how his celebrity status developed through football and media; as well as how he came to reject his racial identity and how his ego only inflated that huge head of his.

Just hearing his name is guaranteed to evoke a response within individuals from varying backgrounds and cultures. Sports fans know him as “The Juice,” being the first player to ever run for 2000 yards in a 14-game season; with some putting him in the Top 5 running backs of all time.  Cinema fans might know him as “Nordberg” from the Naked Gun series. A set of goofy, police comedy films that are beloved by thespians and audiences alike. Kids who grew up in the ’70s and ’80s might know him simply for being everywhere. He was omnipotent. A societal deity that ruled with a velvet glove; flashing his smile from advertisements to TV shows, and everything in between. More modern generations might know him for his Twitter videos, and his patented catchphrase: “Hey Twitter world, it’s yours truly.” Regardless of which category you fall under, we all, unfortunately, know him for something else too, that much we share. See, the story of O.J. Simpson is one that is unique.  He was the American Dream. But, was the dream really more of a nightmare, or did he just...wake up?
