In this week’s Middle East News Hour, Caroline Glick is joined by Amnon Lord, senior columnist at Israel Hayom and one of Israel’s foremost experts on the Israeli left. Caroline and Amnon discuss the Palestinian and international community’s use of blood libels to demonize Israel and legitimize the mass murder of Jews, in the context of the death of Al Jazeera reporter Shireen Abu Akleh in Jenin last week. Next, they move to the Israeli left’s abandonment of Zionism and what it means for Israeli democracy, for the country’s ability to withstand and defeat the political war the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) and its partners are waging against it and for Israel’s survival more generally. They then moved on to a wider discussion of Europe’s – and particularly Germany’s 74 year failure to reckon with the Holocaust, and how Israel should and shouldn’t conduct itself towards European countries in relation to the Holocaust on the one hand, and advancing current interests on the other hand. In this special week’s episode of the Middle East News Hour, Caroline Glick is joined by Ambassador David Friedman, President Trump’s extraordinary ambassador to Israel. They discussed Friedman’s recently released memoir of service, Sledgehammer where he set out how Trump’s courageous break with 75 years of failed U.S. Middle East policies, starting with his decision to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, brought peace to the Middle East. Caroline is joined by Dr. David Wurmser to discuss why Israel has no choice but to replace the U.S. as the strong horse in the Middle East and lead an anti-Iranian coalition of Sunni Arab states. Caroline and David discussed how the Arabs view the Biden administration’s betrayal, and why Israel’s current government, which fails to understand the implacable nature of the administration’s hostility, is endangering Israel’s ties with its Abraham Accords partners and its very future.

The past week in Israel saw two acts of terrorism by Israeli Arab citizens and the Negev Summit where Anthony Blinken transformed the Abraham Accords from an Israeli-Sunni strategic alliance against Iran into a US-Sunni political alliance against Israel. They then considered what Trump’s Maximum Pressure strategy achieved and whether and how Russia’s invasion of Ukraine impacts Biden’s actions going forward.

Why did Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett fly to Moscow to “mediate,” between Russia and Ukraine? Why are progressives in the U.S. and the Ukrainian leadership attacking Israel over its position on Russia?
