Dan sits down with green entrepreneur and activist, Danny Korman  Danny recently took a position at United Way of Central New Mexico. He previously provided mental health services and housing support to clients of a regional mental health nonprofit in Colorado. Danny started his career working in a series of positions in multiple nonprofit settings focused primarily on community organizing, specifically in the area of historic commercial district revitalization. He eventually found himself working for a government agency focused on economic resourcefulness and tourism. He returned to his hometown of Cincinnati to establish and self-finance its first green general store, where he managed day-to-day operations while being the face of the business. During this time, he began a career in freelancing as a published author and communications consultant, which continues to do this day. After he closed Park + Vine, he coordinated social media marketing and events for a regional trails nonprofit organization. Prior to all of this, Danny received a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Planning from the University of Cincinnati. Danny is a city explorer, nature lover, believer in local economies, and steward for the environment and animals. He likes to prioritize his activities primarily within walking or biking distance. An avid fan of all four seasons—including the often misunderstood winter—he has an interest in year-round outdoor adventures in places both near and far. He is an occasional speaker on topics ranging from small business basics and neighborhood life to the outdoors. Danny Korman is an accomplished and engaging person adept at working with people and projects in a humanitarian manner. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Danny is a bit of a boomerang kid. He has lived in seven states (Ohio, California, Kentucky, New York, Illinois, Colorado, New Mexico) to date. He is currently living in an old house in Albuquerque with his partner. Sue sits down with Talia Migliaccio, an interdisciplinary artist working with many mediums. She is globally known for her hand-poked tattoo work. She loves working across mediums as well, drawing, ceramics, photography, jewelry and design. We dig deep into the Scorpionic realms of consciousness intimately discussing the creation process of ALL THINGS. Talia opens up her inner realms of reflection and emotion for us to sit with. Clearly presenting tactful practices around how to become aware of when we are "othering" or separating from source to avoid a solution oriented mindset followed up by right action. Critical discourse is important, but not the final step of integration. Grief, suffering and letting go are foundational acts that knit community together, and we discuss the structure of more regenerative practices and community organization that needs to emerge. Talia designed the cover of Sue's book Transitory Nature, and through this creation process together they formed a collaborative relationship. We discuss cissexim, gender essentialism, and the hierarchical need to "gender" everything, and how that truly keeps the human consciousness in a cage of labels. Sue and Dan get VERY PERSONAL in this episode. We discuss the Masculine/Feminine Binary, the Maiden/Mother Binary, gender roles and power dynamics in relationships when deciding to have children or not have children. We know this is a triggering topic, discussing identity and being able to hold multiple choices with respect in your embodiment. We both open our hearts about pressures from family, society, and previous partners about "having kids" and ways we coped with that solo and together. This transparent conversation is about how to create more holistic and safe spaces about making choices that are against the grain of status-quo. Particularly at the intersection of creation, family units, sexualitity, gender expression and power dynamics; it can get messy and we are not claiming to have all of the answers. We decided to open some of our private conversations between each other on the podcast this week and really go for it around making the choice to not have children.
