What is the Spirit saying to the Church? Revelation 2 - Pastor Dan Foster 11/10/26
2026/10/13
Debbie reads Revelation 2:1-7 and Pastor Dan Foster speaks on Jesus, asking if He is our first love at Pembury Baptist Church on 11th October 2026. Further questions for reflection: The church in Ephesus were commended for not tolerating false teachers. Can you think of any examples of false or bad teaching in the wider Church today? The church in Ephesus had lost the love they once had. Do you truly know you are loved by God?What do you think the Spirit is saying to us (PBC) as a church today? Might there be something we ought to repent of? Are there people we find it hard to love? Can the Holy Spirit help us love them? How might we rekindle a greater love for God in our own lives, both personally and as a church?
What is the Spirit saying to the Church? Revelation 1 - Pastor Dan Foster 04/10/26
2026/10/06
Jon reads Revelation 1 and Pastor Dan Foster begins the new sermon series 'What is the Spirit saying to the Church?', based on the book of Revelation at Pembury Baptist Church on Sunday 4th October 2026. There are several testimonies and words after the sermon. Further questions for reflection: Have you ever tried reading the book of Revelation before? How did you find it?John was ‘in the Spirit on the Lord’s day’ (verse 10). Do you ever manage to set time aside to be with God?In Revelation 1 we see an amazing description of the risen and glorified Jesus (see verses 13-16). Is your Jesus too small or too familiar?‘When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead.’ (Verse 17). Can you picture yourself in John’s position, face down before Jesus? Can you imagine him placing his hand on you and saying ‘Fear not’?
Harvest Thanksgiving - Pastor Dan Foster 27/09/26
2026/09/29
Miriam reads from 1 Kings 17:8-16 and Pastor Dan Foster speaks on using the resources we have already been given by God at Pembury Baptist Church on 27th September 2026.
What is the Kingdom of Heaven Like? - Forgiveness: Tracy Gregory 20/09/26
2026/09/22
Jan reads Matthew 18:21-35 and Tracy Gregory preaches on forgiveness at Pembury Baptist Church on 20th September 2026. Here are a few questions for further reflection: 1. What does forgiveness mean for you? 2. How do you tell someone that they have ‘wronged’ you? Should you tell them? 3. Why is it important to tell someone they are forgiven? 4. Is it more important to ask for forgiveness than to receive forgiveness? Other bible references are:Mark 11:25; Ephesians 4:32, Colossians 3:13
What is the Kingdom of Heaven Like? - A Net: Pastor Dan Foster 13th September 2026
2026/09/15
Helen reads from Matthew 13:44-52 and Pastor Dan Foster continues asking what is the Kingdom of Heaven like at Pembury Baptist Church on 13th September 2026. Some further questions for thought: Questions: 1. Jesus spoke in parables to the crowds and left them wondering what he meant. He didn’t explain everything. Have you ever thought you maybe heard God but weren’t quite sure what he was saying? 2. The man sowed good seed. What good things do you think God is doing in your life? 3. Similarly, where do you think the enemy (the devil) might be at work? 4. The kingdom of heaven is like something very small (a mustard seed or some yeast) that creates growth. Where would you like to see spiritual growth in your life? What small step could you take to encourage that? 5. What do you think about the idea of a final judgement? 6. ’The good seed stands for the people of the kingdom’. Where has God planted you? How might you be more effective for him there?
What is the Kingdom of Heaven Like? - Sower of the Seed: Pastor Dan Foster 06/09/26
2026/09/08

Faithful under Fire: the Writings on the Wall - Jennifer Roberts 23/08/26
2026/08/25
Ruth, John, Andrea and Helen read Daniel 5 and Jennifer Roberts continues the Faithful under Fire series, with 'the Writings on the Wall' at Pembury Baptist Church on 23rd August 2026. If you would like to reflect further on this passage, here are a few follow up questions to think about: Do we learn anything about God's character from this chapter? How much do we trust God? How often do we try everything available to us first before going to God, our Father? Daniel lived as a resident stranger in Babylon. Do we as Christians live as resident strangers in our worldly surroundings? What does that look like? What does God's sovereignty mean to you? Do you believe He is in control? How should we respond to God in the light of His sovereignty?
God Speaks One Way, Sometimes Another. Are We Listening? - Werner Nijman 16/08/26
2026/08/18
Bev reads Job 33:12-15 and Tricia reads 1 Samuel 3:1-10. Werner Nijman speaks, asking if we are listening when God speaks to us, preached at Pembury Baptist Church on 16th August 2026. Some suggestions to help you discuss; Through which ways does God communicate according to His Word? What is your experience of God speaking directly with you? How can we be sure that it is God speaking to us? Can God speak to us when/if we do not follow Him? Why would God want to speak to us at all?
Faithful under Fire: He's With You in the Fire - Pastor Dan Foster 09/08/26
2026/08/11
Caroline, Sue and Rob read Daniel 3 and Pastor Dan Foster speaks on God being with us in the fire at Pembury Baptist Church on 9th August 2026. If you would like to think further on this passage and sermon, here are a few questions that might help: 1. Nebuchadnezzar insisted people bow down and worship his golden statue. Dan suggests we have bowed down before the god of materialism in our day. What do you think about that - do you agree? 2. People were forced to worship the golden statue. God doesn’t force us to worship him but looks for us to worship him freely, in Spirit and in truth. How can we choose to do that in everyday life? 3. Maybe you or someone you know is facing a difficult time or feeling under pressure right now. Can you take heart from the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego - that God is with you even in the midst of it all? 4. Do you have a regular pattern of praying, of coming before God? Something that will help sustain you through moments of pressure? 5. God acts powerfully to save Shadrach, Meschach and Abednego - it’s a miracle. Can you pray God will move in power? Where could you believe him for a miracle? 6. 'Keep your eyes on Him, even in the midst of the fire’. Take a moment to pause and set your heart upon God.
Faithful under Fire: the Revealer of Mysteries - Pastor Dan Foster 02/08/26
2026/08/04
Nichola, Andrea and Ruth read Daniel 2 and Pastor Dan Foster speaks of the Revealer of mysteries at Pembury Baptist Church on 2nd August 2026. If you would like to further reflect on this passage and sermon, here are some questions to reflect on: Have you ever had a dream that has stuck with you? Do you think God was speaking to you? If so, what do you think he was saying? Can you think of a time when you prayed really desperate prayers? When you had no other option? What did you learn through that experience?Maybe you’ve heard a sermon, a word of prophecy or been prayed for and God really spoke to you through it. How did you respond? The rock described in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream (see verses 34-35, 45) represents God’s kingdom ‘that endures for ever’ (v44). Where would you love to see God’s kingdom advance?Think of a friend or family member who really needs to know a real relationship with God, rather than artificial religion. Could you commit to pray for them?
Faithful under Fire: In this World but Not of It - Pastor Dan Foster 26/07/26
2026/07/28
Wanxin reads Daniel 1 and Pastor Dan Foster speaks of being in this world but not of it at the start of the new series, Faithful under Fire at Pembury Baptist Church on 26th July 2026. Further Questions for Reflection: What pressures do you or have you experienced to conform to the world around? What might help you to resist those pressures?Have you ever felt like God has given up on you?Dan mentions sports stars like Saka, Guehi, Eze and Eric Liddell. Are there other people you can think of that inspire you to remain faithful to God while in the world?‘Daniel resolved not to defile himself’ (verse 8). Are there potentially costly decisions for God he is calling you to make?Is there a step of faith God is leading you to make? Something that seems risky or even looks foolish?‘To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning’ (verse 17). Is there an area of your life where you need wisdom, knowledge and understanding? Could you ask God for help? Can you learn how to receive from him?
Encouraged by Persecution? - Werner 19/07/26
2026/07/21
Werner preaches after David reads the scriptures. Here are the scriptures and questions for further personal thought: Matthew 5:10-16 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Salt and Light 13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. 14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. 1 Peter 4:12–14: “Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice because you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.” Acts 5:40-42, 40 His speech persuaded them. They called the apostles in and had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. 41 The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name. 42 Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah. QUESTIONS Do we need to prepare for Persecution? If so, how could we do this? Which Bible verse(s) could be an anchor to hold us to Jesus in time of Persecution? Do you have a specific verse that helps you in case of hardship/difficulties? Have you every suffered rejection becaues of your Faith in Christ? Can you share about this? What does it mean to be a "Fragrance of Christ", can you give examples how this could look in day to day living? (2 Cor 2:14-16)
Life Together: Accepting One Another - Pastor Dan Foster 12/07/26
2026/07/14
Erine reads Romans 15:1-13 and Pastor Dan Foster closes the Life Together series in Romans, speaking of accepting one another. There are several testimonies at the end of the podcast. Further questions and thoughts that you might find helpful are: Can you think of a ‘neighbour’ of yours whom you can encourage and build up?‘Christ became a servant’ - what do you think about the idea that we worship a King who is also a servant?‘Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you’. Do you really believe that by God’s grace you are accepted by him? Can you think of Christian(s) whom you find it difficult to accept? Does it help to remember that Christ has accepted them?Choose one of the ‘impartations’ - from either verses 5-6 or verse 13 of the passage above. Speak it over yourself slowly, repeating it several times. Let it sink in. What is God saying to you through this?

2026/07/07
Sue reads Romans 14:13-23 and Pastor Dan Foster speaks on keeping 'the main thing' the main thing at Pembury Baptist Church on 5th July 2026. Questions to challenge and give extra thought: ‘Let’s keep the main thing the main thing.’ How might you sum up the core message of the gospel in one sentence? Can you think of a time when you changed your mind on a certain issue? What was it that made you change your mind? Can you see God at work at the moment, either in your own life or in the lives of those around you?How could you encourage and build up others in their faith?‘For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit’. Try to memorise this verse. What does it mean to you?
