Something is off when the Bible sits on our shelf, we respect it, and yet we still feel stuck. We wrestle with that tension head-on and ask a blunt question: is God’s Word actually alive to us? Not just true in theory, but active in our Monday morning anxiety, our parenting stress, our marriage strain, and the quiet shame we carry around from years ago. A single sentence can follow you for years. We go after why that happens, why we often ration encouragement while letting critique and complaint spill out, and how Scripture treats our words as more than “just speech.” Pastor Jason shares an honest story from his own past, then brings us to Proverbs and Matthew 12: the tongue carries the power of life and death, and what comes out of our mouths reveals what our hearts have stored up. If you have ever hated what you said in the moment or felt trapped by words spoken over you, there is a path forward.  Click here for message notes. Forgiveness is easy to praise and hard to practice, especially when the wound is real, the apology never comes, or the person who hurt you still wants access to your life. We’ve picked up bad ideas about what forgiveness is supposed to look like. “Move on.” “Forget it.” “Stop feeling it.” None of that heals a heart, and none of it matches the way Scripture talks about forgiveness. We talk about why sin is not a scoreboard but a deforming force that reshapes our desires, habits, and identity. We name four “blockages of the heart” that keep our soul unrestored and our flesh unsurrendered, then ask the Holy Spirit to search us, cleanse us, and make us new. Click here for message notes. For too many people life with Jesus feels like anything but the "easy yoke" and "light burden" He is inviting us into. Why? Life has a way of feeling heavy when you’re carrying guilt, hiding behind a mask, or trying to build a new life in Jesus on old foundations that were laid when we weren't even thinking about Him. The most dangerous lie shame tells is that hiding will keep you safe. We start with the Genesis garden, not as a children’s story, but as a blueprint for what still happens in real life: a simple question becomes a slow drift, our own “what makes sense to me” replaces God’s Word as final authority, and suddenly we’re covering up and pulling away from the very God who’s looking for us. The gap between the life you want and the life you’re living often comes down to one decision: will you follow what makes sense to you, or will you follow Jesus even when it doesn’t? You can believe in God and still keep Him at arm’s length. That distance feels safe, but it locks you into a life you have to manage alone, with all the anxiety and exhaustion that comes with it. God doesn’t want to be your landlord, showing up only when something breaks. He wants to be your Father, with real relationship and real access to every corner of your life.  Freedom Church is a growing, life-giving, Spirit-filled church in Williston, ND committed to our mission of Reaching People & Building Lives. The moment life gets uncertain, we all start doing the same thing: we count. We count money, time, options, wins, losses, and worst case scenarios. But there’s a haunting question underneath all that math: are we counting to be wise, or counting to feel safe? We sit in the tension between my resources and God’s record. Pastor Jason shares real stories from family life and church planting that highlight the gap many of us live in, then turns to a striking biblical contrast: King David’s census in 1 Chronicles 21 versus David’s song of remembrance in 1 Chronicles 16 (also echoed in Psalm 105). One is driven by fear and control, the other by worship and memory.  From there we zoom out to spiritual formation and practical next steps. We celebrate tangible signs of life change through Freedom Church from community groups and serving to students stepping up and families finding real friendships. We also name the reality many people are carrying right now: marriage stress, anxiety, infertility, finances, health issues, kids drifting, and prayers that feel slow. The invitation is not perfection, but faithfulness and a faster return to Jesus when we fail. Monday morning can feel like a countdown to stress, but what if your workplace is actually one of God’s main tools for shaping you? We dig into a surprising framework for a Christian view of work: God isn’t only interested in what you achieve on the job, He’s deeply committed to who you’re becoming through it. If you’ve ever felt stuck in the cycle of performance, approval, and exhaustion, this conversation offers a better target than “success” alone: transformation into the likeness of Jesus. Your body can take a day off and your mind still won’t stop running. We’re chasing something deeper: the kind of rest Jesus calls “rest for your souls,” the settled, quiet strength you can’t buy with a bigger paycheck or a perfect schedule. If you’re carrying the weight of nonstop work, family pressure, and the feeling that you’re always behind, this conversation is for you. We connect the dots between work, Sabbath rest, and identity, because what you do for a living can easily become what you use to hide. We dig into Matthew 11 where Jesus offers rest but also invites us into a different yoke and a new set of rhythms. Then we walk through Hebrews 3 and 4 and the story of Israel standing at the edge of the promised land, showing how “believing in God” is not the same as believing God and how unbelief keeps people from entering rest. We also name two barriers that sabotage spiritual rest: hiding and striving. When we stay busy to avoid what hurts, or we lean on even our best deeds to justify ourselves, we lose the confidence to approach God freely. Sabbath becomes a practical habit that creates margin, exposes what drives us, and trains us to stop producing long enough to worship, enjoy, and receive grace. If you want a healthier work life, a more grounded faith, and a path out of burnout, press play, then subscribe, share this with a friend who’s exhausted, and leave a review so more people can find it. Work gets the majority of our attention, yet most of us were never taught how to connect our Monday to our faith without either idolizing our career or minimizing it as “just a job.” We pull that tension into the open and talk about calling in a way that’s clear, biblical, and practical for real life. We challenge the sacred versus secular split and rebuild a biblical theology of work that gives everyday labor real purpose. We trace work back to Genesis, show how the gospel reshapes our motives, and pray for integrity, excellence, and partnership with Jesus in the workplace.  • work taking most of our waking hours yet rarely viewed theologically  • defining work as creative energy from God that serves others and makes communities whole  • rejecting the idea that work is only for money or a result of sin  • understanding work by first understanding God’s relational and self-giving nature  • God blessing first and giving value before we perform  • seeing work as partnership with God through the Genesis picture of naming animals  • imago Dei and making the invisible God visible through integrity and kept promises  • sin twisting work into proving, control, competition, and self-made kingdoms  • reframing the gospel as the kingdom of heaven here bringing forgiveness, new life, new community, and new mission  Come out there and celebrate  Freedom Church is a growing, life-giving, Spirit-filled church in Williston, ND committed to our mission of Reaching People & Building Lives.
