Have You Heard of Basil Salt?
2026/10/25
Who knew a few packets of basil seeds could turn into something so delicious?
In this spontaneous episode of Conversations with Daisy Jones: Life in Motion, I’m joined by my husband, Nathan (aka Farmer Jones), and my sister, Carmelita Terry, for a fun, flavorful family conversation about gardening, cooking, creativity, and making the most of what you have.
Nathan shares how he grows basil , why he plants so much of it, and how an abundant harvest inspired him to make homemade basil salt.
Carmelita puts it to the taste test, and before we know it, we’re imagining everything from seasoned fries and scrambled eggs to shrimp, fish, and chicken!
We laugh, exchange ideas, and discover a simple lesson in a jar of seasoning: Sometimes creativity begins with recognizing the possibilities in what you already have.
It’s an unscripted conversation filled with family, food, laughter, and a little inspiration. Just the way I like it!
Pull up a chair and join the conversation.
And remember, in these days of ever-evolving technology, a genuine conversation is still the most powerful communication on the planet.

We Ain’t Dead Yet: A Conversation with Dr. Sheron Patterson
2026/10/20
“We Ain’t Dead Yet” is more than a mindset. It’s a reminder that purpose, growth, and fruitfulness have no expiration date.
In this episode, I’m joined by Dr. Sheron Patterson, author, speaker, retired pastor, breast cancer survivor, and America’s voice for faith and healthy aging. We talk about staying active, building strength, and practicing self-control in daily life. We also explore how technology and social media algorithms affect our focus and spiritual clarity, why biblical literacy matters, and how clear communication can strengthen our relationships.
And we laughed a lot. That laughter was good medicine, too. Dr. Patterson shared wisdom about facing life with courage, avoiding arguments that become “historical or hysterical,” and supporting one another with love.

Men, Depression, and Suicide Prevention: A Conversation with Psychotherapist Dr. Joshua P. Smith.
2026/10/01
In this episode, we again make room for the man who struggles to explain what he’s carrying and for the people who want to understand him. This is an invitation to begin a conversation that goes beyond the usual answer.
Daisy and Psychotherapist Dr. Joshua P. Smith explore men’s mental health, depression that can go unrecognized, and the conversations that matter in suicide prevention. They discuss the pressure to appear strong, the difficulty of asking for help, and how faith and professional care can work together.
He’s still going to work, answering calls, and showing up for everyone. But how is he really doing, and does he feel safe enough to tell someone?
Listen to explore:
How anger, withdrawal, and constant work can sometimes mask depression. What “just pray about it” can leave unaddressed.Recognizing suicide warning signs and asking direct, compassionate questions about suicidal thoughts.Supporting men without expecting them to carry everyone else.Making room for emotional well-being amid family, ministry, and career responsibilities.
If you or someone you love needs support, call or text 988 in the United States to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Free, confidential support is available 24/7.

When Inclusion Becomes Personal: Special Needs, Literacy & Community
2026/09/12
In this episode of Conversations with Daisy Jones, I sit down with Liberty County Kiwanis Club President-Elect John Reith and Public Relations Manager Tina Kitchens to discuss their work supporting children and adults with special needs and their families.
We talk about plans for an inclusive playground at Irene B. Thomas Park, the literacy epidemic affecting children across the nation, and the importance of building communities where people of all abilities are welcomed and included.
The conversation became especially emotional when I shared about my own sister, who is in her 60s and has multiple special needs. For families like mine, inclusion is personal, lifelong, and deeply connected to dignity, belonging, and quality of life.

Raising Disciples: A Conversation with Ed and Tiffany Rahming
2026/09/07
On this episode of Conversations with Daisy Jones, I sit down with Ed and Tiffany Rahming, two retired Army Chief Warrant Officers, for a remarkably intimate conversation about marriage, family, faith and Raising Disciples.
But we start where I love to start, with their story.
Ed and Tiffany take us back to when they first met as two young enlisted soldiers serving on active duty. We talk about their journey toward marriage and the conversations they had early on about family, children and how they wanted to raise them.
And today, their household is full.
They have two daughters together, and they are also raising two nieces as their own. Their youngest is five and has been in their care since she was a baby. Their oldest, a 41-year-old niece with special needs, is also part of their household and family life.
Add to that Ed’s life as a business owner, and you begin to understand why this conversation about raising disciples is about much more than parenting.
Ed shares some deeply personal thoughts about fatherhood and family that I believe will resonate with many people. We talk about faith, discipline, grace, responsibility, marriage, the influence of culture, and what it means to prepare children to eventually live out their own relationship with God.
This is a beautiful and very personal conversation about the family Ed and Tiffany have built, the family they continue to raise, and the faith that guides them.

Lead Like a Shepherd: A Conversation with Nick Westbrook
2026/08/31
What does it mean to lead people well? How do you create a culture where people can grow and thrive? And what does it take to develop young people not just to do a job, but to become leaders themselves?
In this episode of Life in Motion | Conversations with Daisy Jones, I’m talking with Nick Westbrook, Chick-fil-A Owner-Operator, former head football coach, speaker, podcast host, and creator of the Shepherd Leadership Framework.
We started with leadership, but as good conversations often do, we went much further…and deeper!
Nick shares his perspective on leading like a shepherd, developing people, building strong teams, and creating a culture where people have the opportunity to thrive.
And then there are those two words so many of us associate with Chick-fil-A: “My pleasure.”
We talk about those too, including the philosophy behind creating a culture where service is more than something people are simply told to do.
Nick’s journey from coaching football to sales to becoming a Chick-fil-A Owner-Operator gives him an interesting perspective on people, teams, influence, and leadership. He also gives us a preview of his new book coming in January 2027.
Whether you lead at work, at home, in your community, or are simply thinking about the influence you have on the people around you, there’s something in this conversation for you.
You’re going to enjoy it!

What keeps a person engaged with life at 89?

Behind the Chair: Where Conversation Meets Business with Kernesheia ‘Nesha’ Wright
2026/08/16
What does conversation have to do with the success of a small business? In the beauty industry, quite a bit.
In this episode of Conversations with Daisy Jones, I sit down with Kernesheia Wright, Savannah salon owner and founder of the Elite Beauty Summit, for a different perspective on beauty, business, customer service, and communication.
As the owner of Flawless Hair Studio & Design, Kernesheia understands that running a beauty business involves much more than providing a great service. Beauty professionals and barbers spend significant time with their clients, and conversation naturally becomes part of the experience. Clients talk about their families, careers, relationships, challenges, celebrations, and sometimes very personal situations.
But where are the boundaries?
Kernesheia turns the tables and asks me questions about the conversations that happen between beauty professionals and their clients. We explore how those exchanges can influence trust, customer loyalty, professionalism, reputation, and the overall experience of doing business with someone.
We also discuss customer service, the realities of small-business ownership, and why communication deserves attention as a business skill, particularly in an industry built around recurring, one-on-one relationships.
And we talk about the why behind the Elite Beauty Summit, Kernesheia’s vision for bringing beauty professionals, entrepreneurs, brands, and industry voices together in Savannah to build connections and create opportunities for growth.
This conversation looks at the beauty business from a different perspective: the business that happens through conversation.

Think You Know Women’s History? Think Again. | A Conversation with Author Kaia Alderson
2026/07/21
What happens when forgotten history meets unforgettable storytelling?
On this episode of Conversations with Daisy Jones, bestselling author Kaia Alderson joins the show to discuss her acclaimed historical novels, Sisters in Arms and A League of Her Own. Inspired by the true story of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion and the extraordinary life of baseball pioneer Effa Manley, Kaia shares how meticulous research and compelling storytelling bring overlooked chapters of American history to life.
We explore the responsibility of writing historical fiction, the emotional connection readers develop with her characters, and why preserving these stories matters for future generations.
After our interview, I immediately picked up A League of Her Own. Having now read both novels, I can honestly say they are emotional, sensory experiences that stay with you long after the final page.
Whether you’re a fan of historical fiction, fascinated by hidden history, or simply love hearing from exceptional authors, this is a conversation you won’t want to miss.

The Things Men Don’t Talk About
2026/06/29
Some of the most meaningful conversations are never planned.
What began as an organic conversation between friends about grief became one of the most memorable conversations I’ve ever recorded. While on location in Dallas, Texas, I walked into the room as retired Chief Warrant Officer turned CEO Pierre Balentine and retired Army veteran Nathan Jones were talking. It quickly became clear this was a conversation that needed to be shared.
In this episode of Conversations with Daisy Jones, Pierre and Nathan have an honest conversation about men’s mental health, grief, emotional resilience, leadership, and the silent burdens many men carry. They reflect on how trusted friendships help men navigate life’s hardest moments and why vulnerability is not a weakness, but a mark of strength.
The conversation also turns to mentoring younger men, the importance of fatherhood, and the legacy every man leaves through his character, choices, and relationships. Their insights offer practical wisdom for building stronger families, stronger communities, and a stronger next generation.
Whether you’re a man seeking encouragement, a woman wanting to better understand the men in your life, or someone interested in leadership, personal growth, and legacy, this episode will challenge and inspire you.
Sometimes the most important conversations are the ones that happen unexpectedly. This is one of them.

Listening to Young Voices: A Conversation with Kayden (2020)
2026/06/15
In this special throwback episode of Conversations with Daisy Jones, we revisit a delightful conversation recorded in January 2020 with Kayden Lovett Jones. At the time, Kayden shared a glimpse into the world through the eyes of a young gamer, animal lover, and thoughtful observer.
From his favorite video games, Minecraft and Talking Tom Cat 2, to the excitement of caring for his new puppy, Brownie, Kayden explains how lessons from a virtual pet game helped him think about responsibility and caring for a real one. He also offers surprisingly mature insights about screen time, reminding listeners that spending too much time online can be unhealthy and that balance matters.
This conversation captures the curiosity, imagination, and wisdom that young people often bring to the table when we take the time to listen.
A fun and heartwarming episode about gaming, pets, responsibility, and the value of real-world connections.

What a full circle conversation!
When I invited Keinan Johnson to join me for Conversations with Daisy Jones again, I was reminded of how long our paths have crossed. He is the Founder and Managing Director of KeiStone Kollective, helping organizations leverage technology, storytelling, and strategic marketing to grow their impact.
