This one was a long time coming, and even with some audio issues I think this is one of the best interviews I’ve ever done. Josh was incredibly open and honest, diving into stuff he’s never really talked about. You’ll get the deep lore on his upbringing in the Midwest, IWA Deep and Mid South, Big Japan, WrestleARTS, NAP, Taichi, TAKA Michinoku, and everything in between! Thanks again to Josh for his time and this definitely is only the first one, not the last one! DISCLAIMER This episode was recorded literally the day before the Angel Metro vs Gary Jay match was dropped for 102 so we didn’t forget it, it just didn’t exist yet. Needless to say, Chris and I both LOVE that call and are excited for that bout as much as the ones we discussed This episode is heavy on what we feel are 5 of the best matches ever inside the chains (and way more than just 5 at the end of the day) as well as heavy conversation about the big 101 Sayonara Honey Badger Japan show as well as the big Boston return for 102! Thanks for the love, and keep supporting NHB with merch and tickets they’re easily to me the best deathmatch promotion on earth! This is a public episode. As we take a ride down the winding, bumpy road that is the history of WCW there’s some moments that must be highlighted. The Crockett sale, Flair leaving for WWF, Sting’s first title win, and the first ever Slamboree event? Well it was the beginning of the famed WCW Hall of Fame and perhaps some of the absolute best and worst wrestling we’ve seen so far. Rob is yet another in the list of folks I actually became buddies with way before I ever asked him to do the show. It was so long in fact that finally I was like “oh and what the f**k are we doing, we gotta pod” and he replied “run it” and here we are. This is easily the most open and outspoken anyone has been in this space, and I loved it! We talk everything from Talk’n Shop, shit indies in the South, New South and the exit, TWE and acceptance, getting to do SCI, and just a TAD bit of tea. You do NOT want to skip this one, folks. I was fortunate to talk to an absolute indie legend, New South partial owner Cabana Man Dan! Since 2001, he’s been up and down the roads and we discuss all the highs and lows of his career including his one Wildside gig, traveling all over the country, SUP, New South, and Beyond. It’s a really amazing glimpse into what life can be like for wrestlers, and a great story of finding yourself again when things feels bleak. It's a sit down interview with the Sharkshooter himself, Matt Mako! We talk about his Chikara beginnings, how that fall out felt for him, his work in Bloodsport, ETU, ROH, his latest appearance on AEW Collision, Labor of Love, and of course Power Pro Lucha. Matt was an absolute pleasure and I hope you check out his matches if you haven't already the dude is amazing! Chris and I finally got the rising star of the wrestling review Substack sphere Dean Marlowe on a pod and it's all about this year's G1 Climax. Of course we discuss the Final match and all it's glory but we also talk about the real important stuff like: the 2008 G1 nostalgia, how goddamned polarizing SANADA is in the group, Walker by GAWD Stewart, and every other bizarre sidebar known to man.Screw socials, we're dropping Substacks! I did it, I snagged one of the wildest interviews yet. Daniel Makabe and I started talking not about his storied career, but strange punk music and THAT is why he’s cut from a different cloth. Of course, we did end up broaching the subject of wrestling and this is the end result of those Instagram DMs. Daniel was a wealth of knowledge and one of the nicest dudes I’ve ever talked to. I’d like to believe this is only second to the over 4 hour epic that the Q&Tr pod did in 2019 in terms of depth in Makabe’s career. We’ve reached the end of the Bill Watts era of WCW and the very beginning of the Eric Bischoff regime and this is one hell of a start. Davey Boy Smith is in WCW, Sting and Vader have a classic, and we find out what the White Castle of FEAR is, or do we?Jim is on social media at:https://www.threads.com/@thejimdbhttps://bsky.app/profile/thejimdb.bsky.social This is a public episode. I had the pleasure of sitting down with one of the independent scene’s hottest young stars, Big Dave Weaver out of Alabama! This was a great convo about how he looks at the business, how he has climbed the ranks of the Southeast scene and how he tries to keep it awesome and fun like the Lord intended! We're back yet again for another dive into The Chains and it's a very special episode all about the NHB 100 show and what we believe to be perhaps the best deathmatch show of the decade and perhaps even longer! We have all the details on every match, SHLAK VS SLADE, Angel vs Lucky, Mancer is the man, and everything in between! Thanks for the love, we really appreciate it! This is a public episode.
