Paul Kirk had been involved in football coaching for over 34 years progressing through the Irish FA coach development program from grassroots to his current status of a UEFA pro license coach. He worked for the Irish FA for 12 years as a development officer / manager before managing at senior level qualifying for European football on several occasions. Paul was also a coach educator for many years but has now returned to youth football with TW Braga.  As a player Paul had a successful career representing his country at youth level before winning three league championships with three different Belfast clubs. He also had a spell with Aston Villa, Reading and Oldham before moving south to play for Waterford United. At Waterford Kirk won the FAI Cup.  Paul’s football career has given him the opportunity to play in many European games against teams such as Liverpool and Dynamo Tbilisi. Filipe started playing on the cobbled streets of Braga before being scouted by SC Braga at the age of 10.  After 5 years at SC Braga he transferred to FC Porto. He became a Portuguese U19 champion there before moving to Chelsea at the age of 17.  He made his debut at the age of 18 replacing Gianfranco Zola in the Europa League. He represented the club for 4 seasons and played under Claudio Ranieri and José Mourinho. Lino played to a high level at youth level but finished playing the game at an early age to focus on coaching. He studied at University and completed his UEFA A License through the Irish FA. Originally from Portugal he has coaching experiences in Portugal, Qatar and Switzerland. Gary Curneen Is originally from Omagh, Northern Ireland. He gained a Master’s in Business Administration from Wingate University, where he coached the Lady Bulldogs to their first ever SAC Championship and place in the NCAA Tournament. Recently, Gary coached with the NWSL team Chicago Red Stars as an assistant coach. Prior to Red Stars, he was the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at California State University Bakersfield, the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at University of Cincinnati, and Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Wingate University. He holds a UEFA ‘A’ License from the Irish FA and a Premier Diploma from the NSCAA. Gary created Modern Soccer Coach to help educate other coaches and provide avenues for coaches to learn from some of the best. He is the author of ‘The Modern Soccer Coach’ series and is dedicated to continuing to learn and evolve as a coach. João was a professional footballer before starting his coaching journey. He is a UEFA PRO Licence coach and from this podcast you will hear the hunger he has to continue learning, networking and sharing with coaches at all levels. As manager of Swiss Club, Grasshoppers, he won a challenge league in 2020/21. He was lead coordinator of Aspire Academy in Qatar. Gil is a Portuguese football coach who has been working as an assistant coach and has a lot of experience specialising the best way to help develop individual players. His last role was in the Portuguese first division. He has written a book about coach decisions, edited by the Portuguese Football Federation, and also published three articles to the Spanish football magazine, The Tactical Room. His study area is around football’s learning process, ‘how can we help the players to learn better?’ Currently he holds the UEFA A Coaching Licence through the Scottish FA and has two Master degrees. Alan Snoddy is a retired Northern Irish referee, known for having refereed at the World Cup finals in Mexico in 1986 and in Italy in 1990. At the 1986 World Cup Snoddy was appointed to referee the game between Morocco and Portugal which ended 3-1 to Morocco. In the 1990 World Cup Alan refereed the game between Columbia and West Germany which ended 1-1 at the San Siro in Milan. He was the first referee from Northern Ireland to referee at back to back World Cup finals. Snoddy serves as referee development officer for the Irish Football Association a position which he left in 2014 although still works as a referee observer for both the Irish Football Association and UEFA. He is also a member of the UEFA Referee Convention Panel and is widely used assisting countries develop their referee structures. He is a senior course leader at the UEFA Referee Centre of Excellence coaching young promising referees. He is also a FIFA Referee Technical Instructor conducting technical seminars regularly. He worked for 2.5 years as the President of the Cyprus FA Referee Committee, and in February 2020 finished a spell of 16 months as a Referee Consultant to the Latvia FF. He has vast experience in refereeing, observing / assessing, instructing, mentoring and coaching all levels of match officials, and is very much in demand for seminars and development projects. Peter is an experienced football coach, involved in football and futsal in various contexts over the past decade. He became a coach because he wanted to develop young players, especially exciting and creative players. This has influenced his choices of coaching courses and coaching philosophy. He believes in creating an environment that allows players to learn through practice and allows them the freedom to fail. The players and the coaches need to have the opportunity to experiment with different approaches. Akusti was born in Turku, Finland and is married with two children. He played football up until the age of 19 before being forced to retire after a second ACL injury. He started his coaching qualifications a year later. Holding a number of roles as youth coach and U19 and U17 coach for a series of Finnish teams he is now first team women head coach for TPS Turku. TPS is a professional football club based in Turku, Finland. The men’s first team and women’s first team both play in the highest tier of their respective leagues in Finland. The club is nicknamed “Tepsi” and was founded in 1922. Akusti has a passion to continue his coach education and regularly attends courses and visits pro clubs across Europe. Dave is an English football coach and enjoyed 20 years at Middlesbrough FC as Academy Director. Parnaby is from County Durham. He was a teacher for 22 years. He was manager of non-league Gateshead and coached England Under 15 School Boys before joining ‘Boro. Middlesbrough have been noted as having one of the most productive youth academy systems in European Football. There are currently no fewer than 19 Middlesbrough Academy representatives playing for England at various levels. In 2008, Parnaby gained the UEFA PRO Licence coaching qualification.
