What's Occurring? Gavin and Stacey is the hit BBC sitcom written by James Corden and Ruth Jones that follows two families; one from Billericay in Essex, and another from Barry Island (not Barry's island) in Wales. The story centres around  the relationship of the two title characters, Gavin Shipman (Matthew Horne) and Stacey West (Joanna Page). Gavin lives with his parents, Mick (Larry Lamb) and Pam (Alison Steadman) in Billericay, and spends a great deal of time with his best friend, Smithy (James Corden). Stacey lives on Barry Island, a remote Welsh town, with her mother Gwen (Melanie Waters). They are often visited by their wacky uncle Bryn (Rob Bryden) and her best friend, Ness (Ruth Jones). The show follows the development of Gavin and Stacey's relationship, whilst numerous side stories that involve the other characters. Gavin and Stacey premiered in 2007, with the series 3 finale being aired in 2010. There were also 2 Christmas special episodes, the most recent being aired in 2019. The show has gained worldwide critical acclaim and won numerous awards, as well as launching the career of James Corden. Breaking Bad was released on AMC in 2008, to a modest reception and didn't really grab anyone's attention. The story of a cancer-ridden Chemistry teacher who turns to a world of crime in order to pay his hospital bills eventually became one of the most watched shows of all time.
