تسلط الضوء هذه الحلقة على قضية هامة ، تثير العلاقة بين الغذاء والمناخ ، لنجيب على السؤال العام: هل يؤثر غذائنا على البيئة والمناخ؟ والعكس كذلك.. هل يؤثر مناخنا على الامن الغذائي؟ و سيتخلل الحلقة بلا شك ، نقاش ثري ، سيكشف تفاصيل اكثر عن علاقة المناخ والغذاء ، فالغذاء يمر بعدة مراحل بدء من النمو وانتهاء بالاستهلاك والتخلص ، وبينهما مراحل المعاجلة والتوزيع والتحضير ، بينما كل خطوة من هذه الخطوات لها تأثيرها الخاص على المناخ من خلال توليد الغازات الدفيئة. فقد تكون معلومة ان " اكثر من ثلث انبعاثات غازات الاحتباس الحراري التي يسببها الانسان مرتبطة بالغذاء" معلومة غريبة او مستبعدة ، لكنها حقيقية. بل ان بعض الاطعمة تتسبب اكثر من سواها بانبعاثات غازات الاحتباس الحراري وعلى الخصوص الاطعمة حيوانية المصدر خاصة اللحوم الحمراء. على الضفة الاخرى ، فان التغيرات المناخية تؤثر في الامن الغذائي ، فارتفاع درجات الحرارة ، الجفاف ، الفيضانات وغيرها من تغيرات مناخية لها تأثير مباشر في خفض انتاج الاغذية ، وبالتالي رفع اسعارها فما هي الحلول المتاحة؟ و كيف يمكن ان يتكيف النظام الغذائي العالمي مع تغير المناخ؟ ضيوفنا في هذه الحلقة هم م. قاسم جوني. مهندس زراعي و خبير الزراعة المستدامة. برنامج العالمي للغذاء للامم المتحدة و د.دلال الغواص استشاري زراعة و غذاء.

تسلط هذه الحلقة الضوء على جانب مهم من جوانب المناخ وطرق معالجة تغيراته وهو "الاستثمار في المناخ" او "الاستثمار في الطبيعة" اليوم ، تسعى كافة الحكومات الى اعادة انعاش النمو  الاقتصادي ، وفي جهود موازية هناك حكومات كذلك تحاول التصدي لمشاكل التغير المناخي. وبهذه المعادلة يمكن تحقيق نمو اقتصادي يخفض من مخاطر التغير المناخي. فعلى سبيل المثال لا الحصر ، الاستثمار في بنية تحتية عصرية وذكية تحقق اقتصاد مستدام ، وبيئة اقل عرضة لعوامل التغير المناخي. مع تنامي التحديات الناجمة عن التغير المناخي تأتي فكرة الاستثمارات المستدامة لتحاول من خلال أهدافها و مميزاتها لعب دور إيجابي في المحافظة على البيئة، و ذلك بخلق وعي جماهيري لدى المستثمرين بأهمية البيئة و التغير المناخي. هذه الحلقة تسلط الضوء على هذه الملفات واكثر ضيفتنا في هذه الحلقة هي بريهان عبدالغالي خبير تمويل مستدام من معهد لندن للدراسات المصرفية والمالية

تركز هذه الحلقة على المناخ و الطاقة، بما في ذلك تأثير الطاقة على تغير المناخ و الانتقال الى الطاقة المستدامة و مستقبل الخليج فيما يتعلق بالوقود الاحفوري. تناقش ضيفتنا في هذه الحلقة السيدة ديانا القيسي من لبنان، اخصائية اولى في الطاقة لدى البنك الدولي، برنامج الطاقة و الجندرة في الشرق الاوسط و شمال افريقيا، وطبيعة التحول الطاقي و تأثيره الايجابي على البيئة و التحديات التي تواجه الاقتصادات النفطية، مثل دول الخليج ، في هذا التحول.

تركز هذه الحلقة على المرأة وتغير المناخ وهي زاوية غالبا ما يتم تجاهلها في الحوار البيئي.  في هذه الحلقة، من 52 درجة نستمع لنساء ملهمات يدفعن للتغيير ويحققن تأثيرًا كبيرًا داخل مجتمعاتهن. أظهرت الدراسات الحديثة أن المرأة أكثر عرضة للآثار الناتجة عن تغير المناخ وأكثر عرضة للتأثر بالتغيرات في الموارد الطبيعية، في فصل جديد في الفجوة بين الجنسين. عوامل عدة تسهم في تأثر المرأة بتغير المناخ وآثاره، وسيتم مناقشتها من قبل ضيفتنا الأولى، السيدة/ نور القطان، من مكتب الأمم المتحدة لتنسيق الشؤون الإنسانية في دولة الكويت.  من ناحية أخرى، هناك أمثلة عديدة للنساء اللواتي يقدن الطريق في التخفيف من  آثار تغير المناخ، حيث تناقش ضيفتنا الثانية في هذه الحلقة، السيدة/ خلود العامري، رئيسة شبكة صحفيي التغير المناخي في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا، التأثير الإيجابي والعملي للنساء في المنطقة خلال مبادرات تركز على تمكين المرأة في مجال المناخي.  

Samia ends her journey with a focus on food.  Food security is top priority for all countries but more so in the Middle East since water is scarce along with sustainable agricultural land.  Samia meets with Earth Roastery an eco-coffee supplier and cafe; Mwambu Wanendeya founder of Uganda's Carico Coffee; Food security expert Dalal Alghawas - Program Manager at Big Idea Ventures (Food Scientist and food security specialist); and Faisal Almeshal from Kalera Vertical Farms to get the lowdown on the future of food.

Samia is talking all about the ubiquitous "Net Zero" in this episode. As the global economy implements major decarbonisation policies the latest research from OECD states that Kuwait’s oil revenue will fall by almost 40% over the next two decades and this will have major effects on Kuwait’s future development. Whether it’s urban planning, transport or the energy sector we need a pathway to get us to those necessary “net zero” targets.  Join Samia as she gets the lowdown on ways to achieve this with guests Waleed Alanassar (renewable energy specialist at KISR), Ahmed Taher (energy analyst), Sharifa Alshalfan (Urbanist and architect), and Jassim Alawadhi (founder of Kuwait Commute). 

Samia follows her wardrobe in this episode to find out the true impact her fashion shopping choices make on the environment. Talking to inspirational eco-fashion Lebanese designer Roni Helou and ethical retailer Hanan Alqallaf, who follow sustainable business strategies, Samia learns about how the fashion industry needs to adapt so that people can make changes with their shopping habits to benefit the planet.  She asks Alshaya Group's Head of Sustainability, Seneca Cottom about the moves big brands are making to reuse and recycle clothing waste.  And Dalal Behbehani's brilliant rental boutique Naz offers high-end fashion at a fraction of the cost and in a sustainable manner.

Samia sets sail in this episode to discover the truth about the warming sea temperatures and rising sea levels and the effects on the Gulf region.
