Episode 243: The Social Network
2026/10/07
Slight callback as the podcast is going back and looking again at a film that was covered in a big retrospective in The Social Network as we look forward to the upcoming release of The Social Reckoning.
Episode 242: Alejandro González Iñárritu
2026/10/04
Apologies for the delay to this episode and we're looking at another director's filmography this time as we go through the work of Alejandro González Iñárritu in anticipation (maybe) of his new polarising film, Digger.
Episode 241: Resident Evil
2026/09/16
We're back into the world of video games this week with a look at the expansive Resident Evil franchise with the main discussion being the Paul W.S. Anderson films but with talks about the animated films, the 2021 Welcome to Raccoon City and the games of course.
Episode 240: Fall
2026/09/06
Apologies for the fairly late release this week.
We do talk about the 2022 film Fall but we spend a lot more time on our own personal fears, rollercoasters and generally dangerous situations.
Episode 239: Space Jam
2026/08/28
Looking at the world of Looney Tunes this week with the 90s childhood favourite in Space Jam and it's fairly unneeded sequel. We also get into 90s music, shoes and basketball (naturally).
Episode 238: The Martian
2026/08/20
This is one of the episodes that has been a long time coming with a look at The Martian as well as talking about Ridley Scott's career and the recent adaptation of Andy Weir's Project Hail Mary.
Episode 237: Matt Johnson
2026/08/07
We did Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie earlier this year so we might as well look at the rest of Matt Johnson's career especially because he's got a new film out soon, Tony.
Episode 236: Taxi Driver
2026/07/23
One of the real classics this week as we look back at the Scorsese film Taxi Driver to tie into the film's 50th anniversary. We get into how the film has been misinterpreted, other classics and Quentin Tarantino.
Episode 235: Oppenheimer
2026/07/15
We did all of Nolan's other films when Oppenheimer released but now it's time to properly discuss and look at Oppenheimer with 3 years of hindsight before looking ahead to The Odyssey.
Episode 234: Evil Dead Rise
2026/07/10
Diving back into the Evil Dead franchise with a look at the last release, Evil Dead Rise, as the newest film in the franchise, Evil Dead Burn, finally releases. We also get into the other Evil Dead films, where the next one should be set and upcoming 2026 releases.
Episode 233: Despicable Me
2026/07/01
The first, and hopefully only time, that we are covering Illumination on this podcast with a look back at Despicable Me and the Minions films. We get into the history of Illumination as well as a look at other companies in the animation sphere and the career of Pharrell Williams.
Episode 232: Supergirl
2026/06/24
We're going back into the DCU with the next major project in the franchise with Supergirl with the show going back to the 1984 film. We also look at the landscape of female led superhero films, Superman (2025) and the "controversies" around the upcoming Supergirl film.
Episode 231: Toy Story: Redux
2026/06/18
Another redux episode this week as we look at the film that started it all for Pixar with a look at Toy Story as well as all the following sequels and the spin-off. We also get into crying as men, technology used by kids and general Pixar chat.
Episode 230: Close Encounters of the Third Kind
2026/06/11
We're back to cover another Spielberg film (he's got a new one out this week so you know) and we get into his career, aliens and the definitions of genres (somehow again).
Episode 229: The Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity, Obsession
2026/06/03
Just as a preface, this episode was supposed to be out last week but it has been delayed to this week so apologies if some of the language we use sounds outdated in regards to what we were tying this into.
Quite possibly the most tenuous connection I've ever done in terms of trying to tie an episode into a new release with but we're looking at some really successful low-budget horror films to tie into the release of the new Backrooms film with some films that are in a similar vein.
