While there is a saying about having too many chiefs, at CEQ we value each and every one of ours and are grateful for the leadership they provide across the state. Today we're taking a bite out of all things dental for our final 'chief chat' with Queensland's Chief Dental Officer Dr Mark Brown. Mark and the team have down some pioneering work, developing an electronic oral health record in-house which has not only freed up space in public dental clinics around the state, but supports continuity of care for our most disadvantaged consumers. One of our newest - and smallest - teams are the Office for Prisoner Health and Wellbeing who work tirelessly to support staff to provide the best care possible to Queenslanders in prison. From innovating practice and improving capacity and capability, to ensuring a sustainable workforce into the future, this little team supports each and every nurse and midwife across the state. This week we delve into the world of Allied Health with Chief Allied Health Officer Liza-Jane McBride. In addition to leading the Allied Health Professions' Office of Queensland, she provides oversight and support for the workforce all across state. So what exactly does it mean to be 'the Chief' and how is her small but mighty office partnering with Hospital and Health Services to affect meaningful change? In addition to supporting healthcare improvements and fostering leaders, Clinical Excellence Queensland provides professional leadership for the healthcare workforces. The Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Branch (MHAODB) have broad ranging responsibilities, from supporting improvement initiatives in mental health to administering the Mental Health Act 2016. But what does that really mean? We spoke to the Executive Director of MHAODB Associate Professor John Allan to get to the heart of what they do and most importantly, the why.

Our clinicians spend years honing their professional skills but what happens when they're ready to make the jump to a leadership position? That is where the Centre for Leadership Excellence comes in to help. Providing statewide leadership training programs and consultancy services to all Queensland Hospital and Health Services, the team are transforming our people and ensuring they are ready for the journey ahead. In this episode, we talk to Jan Phillips the Executive Director of the Centre for Leadership Excellence to discuss what her team does and the key to a strong organisation.
