Episode 62: Talk to Your Boys
2026/10/01
Today's Book: Talk to Your Boys: 16 Conversations to Help Tweens and Teens Grow into Confident, Caring Young Men by Joanna Schroeder and Christopher Pepper (BenBella Books, 2025).Book site: https://www.talktoyourboys.com/Book Instagram: @talktoyourboysbookChristopher Pepper: @mrhealthteacher
"Do you have a girlfriend yet?" might be the question to retire. In this episode, we review Talk to Your Boys and talk about what it takes to raise boys who are confident, caring, and emotionally connected. We get into masculinity, emotional labor, porn literacy, and why the best conversations often start in front of the TV instead of at the kitchen table. We also look at how the book's advice holds up for neurodivergent kids, and why talking with the boys in your life is a marathon, not a sprint. Oh, and Jujutsu Kaisen.

Episode 61- Yes, Your Kid
2026/09/01
Today’s Book: Yes, Your Kid: What Parents Need to Know About Today’s Teens and Sex by Debbie Herbenick, with Kristen Soulé and Susan Stone (Little, Brown Spark, 2023).Author site: https://debbieherbenick.comBook page: https://www.littlebrown.com/titles/debbie-herbenick/yes-your-kid/9780316566077/
“Not my kid” is a myth. In this episode, we review Yes, Your Kid and talk porn literacy, rough sex, vibrators, AI, and how to be an actually askable adult for the teens in your life. We dig into Dr. Herbenick’s research on the rise of rough sex, why nobody seems to know anything about the clitoris, and how parents and caregivers can talk about porn, sexting, and sex tech without freaking out their kids (or themselves). We also highlight one of our fave parts of the book: a full chapter on sex on the spectrum, written with neurodivergent youth in mind. Oh, and Canada geese.

Episode 60: Curvy Girl Sex
2026/08/01
In this episode, Barb and Landa get delightfully nerdy about Curvy Girl Sex: 101 Body-Positive Positions to Empower Your Sex Life by Elle Chase. They ALSO talk fiascos (melted dildos, passed-out students), the fallout of FOSTA/SESTA on sex educators and sex workers, and why body-inclusive, kink-aware, trauma-informed sex education is still so hard to find online. Barb walks through why she fell in love with this book before finishing it. If you’ve ever wanted a joyful, no-shame guide to pleasure that actually centers fat and marginalized bodies, this one’s a gift-worthy keeper.

Today we're reviewing Unf#ck Your Kink by Dr. Faith G. Harper and 101 Kinky Things Even You Can Do by Kate Sloan. We chat about what “kink” even is, where it comes from (maybe), why “normal” sex is a moving target, and why so many neurodivergent folks find a comfy home in kink and BDSM. If you want a playful menu of ideas from dirty talk and sensory play to gags, zapping, and...more, or you want to dig into the science of "why do I like this", join us. We have some answers!
